Perfect post LEXX. Hug to you. Sorry, i forget too cos i'd feel like i'd lost my legs if l lost the ability in life.

I live off it, and it sounds like you do too which is why i can so totally relate to your above post. x

I know what you mean. I have never been any other way. It is what and who I am. If I lost it all it would be akin to being deaf dumb and blind.
It is my life and fuels my passion for life.
Even in my darkest times, I still have "it".

I suggest not reading any books

Instead, just ask and you will receive. I'm not really into reading up on all these kinds of things because l prefer to just experience it in it's virginal way without my mind getting in the way, so i'm afraid l can't recommend anything.

I agree. Best to wing it naturally and not use bookish instructions. If you have it, it will manifest if you let it do so.

i agree with lexx and lara BUT i think for some people reading or being taught is a good start. i have found that every bit of light thrown on a subject leads to other learnings of my own...but you have then to put the books down and do your own exploration.

that said, T, i don't know any good books on chakras! i have picked up bits and pieces here and there which often conflict with each other, so i have been left pretty much to "winging it" myself. i'm certainly no expert but i have found chanting or humming (i wonder does the word humming come from the "om" chant? just crossed my mind!) while putting my attention on the chakras makes them very easy to feel.

as to the other stuff lara and lexx are talking about i too have my own experiences with "abilities" which i stumbled on myself and rarely have i found anyone in a book who corroborated my own "finds". but i still find other people's experiences fascinating and encouraging. and i find it hard to understand why anyone would call people a flat out liar for sharing such things.

zala, lara's getting green lights probably only frustrates someone who is good at getting RED lights! and there are plenty of them...!

Nicely said kat! I just thought it odd for her to suggest people not read books, but then wants people to read her words and words on websites while still saying only listen to yourself. Books can be helpful. Of course we always listen to our higher self, or try to. You can still do that while reading a book and some things might click with you. Maybe you were listening to your higher self when you were led to pick up a certain book. Just because you pick up a book doesnt mean you never try contacting your higherself or learn through experience! Some people mention they have learned or been trained through other people, so what's wrong with learning through a book? It's pretty much the same. We are not all born into families that can teach us this. And we could all use some help developing these gifts we all posses. Reading a book doesnt make you turn away from your own inner guidance or it shouldnt anyway. It's just learning by a certain means. Yay for books!

And I know what you mean about reading all kinds of conflicting bits of information on the chakras. I happened to really like Anodea's book, but that's just me, it resonated here. It taught me a lot and is highly recommended by people whose focus is that field. It's been quite awhile since i read it. I first learned seriously about chakras about 12 or 13 years ago from my Reiki teacher. A very knowledgable woman onthe subject.

Yes, other's experiences are always interesting. I tried the chakra/mirror meditation a few times, once seriously or persistantly. I was surprised by what I eventually saw and I didnt see my 7 chakras. It's great meditation to do with yourself. I'm sure everyone finds something different.

Betelgeuse, I understand.

I'd like to not post in this thread anymore either, just I thought I'd suggest that book.

Books are fine if one has absolutely no clue as to the subject matter. However once one has the gist of it, then intuitively discovering is I feel; the best way.
I often suggest as very good basic primers about OBEs, astral projection and such, the works of Robert Monroe.
Robert Allan Monroe (RAM... ) was the author of three books:

* Journeys Out of the Body (1971) ISBN 0-385-00861-9
* Far Journeys ISBN 0-385-23182-2
* Ultimate Journey ISBN 0-385-47208-0
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Monroe

I do not advocate the Hemi-Sync system however.

Oh yeah! Robert Monroe's great! I found one of his books way back in the day when I started going out of body. It was of great help. When I found out what might be going on, I found his book and it helped me make sense of some things and the experience less scary. Yeah, Journeys Out of the Body was the one I had.

Sometimes I think people continue to read books out of sheer curiosity of another's viewpoint. Or they realize they will never know it all and life is always full of gifts and surprises. They might not still be searching for anything in particular themselves and have found their own groove, but still curious souls who are interested in a subject matter.

Books on auras, psychic development, OBE's etc were really interesting for a few years.

Not sure how Betelgeuse and Lara "see" chakras.
Would like to know however since chakras are centered vertically withing the body.
I trance and an image of the person becomes dark then as the chakras come into focus, the image becomes transparent and I can see the aura forming their outline.
The chakras remind me of wheels/disks in an electric meter, some spinning slowly and others whirling quite fast.
Or sadly some only lit because of the adjacent chakra(s), like a burned out bulb on a string of Xmas lights being lit only by reflection. The chakra line and connections can have damaged or totally burned out like sections.
I work on such with energy work (some call it Reiki...but I find Reiki too limited) and Kundalini awakening with grounding and or Toroidal or Mobius like looping.

I am curious how others see chakras.
Do you see "balls" or "disks" or a "vortex disk for each one?
If disk or vortex, do you see them as vertical like a picture or horizontal like a record player disk?
Most pictures depict either ball or vertical disks.

I don`t see Chakras.
Sometimes I see something that is like a gleaming outline of the body, a few inches off the actual physical body.
And for some reason I identify people with colour, but without really seeing them.

I remember once that a friend asked me to look at a friend of hers and identify his colour and I was really taken aback and almost scared, cause I got the sense of "muddy brown" and a sense of something really nasty that I have never noticed before about him.

A few months later he killed someone.
I certainly didnīt sense that.

well though i have had a few "visions" in my life i don't really "get" things visually most of the time. far more kinesthetic and that is how i experience the chakras. i have found that visualization/meditations involving the colours of the chakras work to a certain extent but before this stuff became more or less acceptable to what i call the mainstream fringe, i noticed that not all authors agreed even on the colours of the chakras! so i understand that reading can be an actual impediment to learning SOmETIMES...

an energy/bodywork teacher i studied with when i was working for my therapy "papers" started her course with theory, but when it came to hands on practice she refused to give us any expectations...because, as she said, everyone feels energy differently and telling us what to expect might lead us to ignore what we were actually receiving.

when i "get" energy readings of people it is usually, like the chakra thing, more of a feeling than a visual of any kind. probably why music and bodywork have turned into vocations for me....i have met people whose energy actually induced me to vomit! and i stay away from them!!

frequently though it comes in the form of pressure in the head...now i do NOT get headaches (apart from the day i went cold turkey on caffeine) unless very ill, so this is another good indication to me that someone is not conducive to my well-being...

as for "good" energy that is also palpable with some people, usually in the region of the 3rd and 4th chakras and sometimes all over...

Root: open (31%)
Sacral: open (31%)
Navel: open (44%)
Heart: under-active (6%)
Throat: open (63%)
Third Eye: open (19%)
Crown: open (56%)

Ack! I thought my heart's already doing well after doing some love meditation a while back. Guess I have to go back to doing it as the first attempts have not been enough. Now I understand why I'm still having the same relationship problems. I'm gonna work on my stuff and re-take the test in a month or two.

PA!!! I'm seriously worried about your under-active sacral chakra.

LEXX,

I see them halfway to how they are in Barbara Ann Brennan's book called "hand of light".

It's an amazing book... will find a pic later.

I heal them by concentrating on both front and back of chakra, together.

OK....so you see them as vertical disks, not spheres or orbs, or spinning orbs?
Hence the front and back you mention, not top/underside.

When they are healthy they resemble spinning orbs.
When they are leaking or severely traumatized they are more like spinning yarn with threads coming out.
When they are close to blowing out, they look like they are spewing out of control, out of the body. The energy is just piling out of them and none of it is being used for organs etc.
When they are closed they look almost like caught in suspended animation - they just spin in spurts and not smoothly nor at normal speed.
(i'm talking from the persons side on view)

So hard to explain isn't it!

How do you see them?
