To Cheshire,
and To All Knowflakes,

I don't think Randall is interested in anarchy,
but, the maintenance of a civilized community.

It's only fair that the community, if not the mods,
acknowledge bad behavior when it's truly destructive
to the harmony of the community and it's members.

As a member, I have every right to make my voice heard.

I know a lot of people who would send Randall an email,
and let the mods sort the matter out, but with no mods in sight,
here I am, speaking up for myself. So what's your complaint?

Wheels tried to break up me and my fiancee
with a seige of vicious, crude, condescending posts.

If there is any decency in any of you,
you'll acknowledge this directly to wheels
and publicly here on the boards, just
as you have repeatedly been the voices
of justice in forum disputes in the past.

Be fair.

Absinthe has made a good start,
and said that wheels owes me an apology.

It's time for the timid folks
who are so afraid of offending their friends,
and who only know how to take sides,
to speak up for once, not on behalf of a friend,
but on behalf of the truth, on behalf of harmony,
and for the security of the community we ALL share.

randall's intervention in that thread consisted of "YOU TWO AGREE TO DISAGREE OR AT LEAST IGNORE EACH OTHER" or something to that effect. i would suggest that pouring water through the same sieve repeatedly is a waste of time and energy.

i am not interested in discussing "you said/she said/ i said" and i have not brought up the thread AD referred to nor have i gone on any of valus's threads .

which by the way this is not.

as to mods, as my name was mentioned just for the record i am not interested in being one.

I kind of disagree actually. If one can't learn how to discuss their controversial views in a polite manner than the onus shouldn't strictly be on the ones taking offense.

Well put AG <APPLAUSE>

We are all adults here, it shouln't be that hard to use your noggin when you post. I'm a mother of a pretty cool 10 year old who would handle this with more respect for others than I've seen here.

Read the above guidelines on what and what not to post...it's really THAT SIMPLE!
I'll admit to have slipped past the 4 letter words such as sh1t...and I actually feel a little tinge of guilt after doing that much. But WOW you guys are really pushing the limits.

I agree with Gypsee about avoiding threads from someone who has pushed your buttons in the past. To avoid making threads into battle zones like this has become. Randall seems to like to let it ride when it comes to disagreements or arguments. Probably hoping people would act like adults and sort it out as such without mother hen having to step in and slap hands. Is that really nessecary? Do things have to get that childish that mother hen is even needed? Obviously so.

Come on people, grow up for Christ sake!

THE BASIC RULES POSTED ON THE LL REGISTRATION PAGE
I DID NOT MAKE THE RULES! However if all followed them, all the crap going down...repeatedly....would not be happening!

I think the appropriate moderator will exemplify a strength of character and know that it is not weak to apologize. It is an admirable act of accountability. It is not weak to be humble. It is a generous act of nobility.

A moderator will also know that both views are True...

1. Everything in moderation.
2. You've got to accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative, and stay away from Mr. Inbetween.

Both are true and hence exist in duality to be supportive of one another's existence.
Unification is the snake eating it's own tale, creating the power of one, the circle, and the wheel thus goes around and around.
I think a spinning wheel should create or produce something of value and debates thus perform this function when we are able to see both sides.

Just my two cents.

LEXX, indeed.

Just a DETACHED OBSERVATION from me.

I have only been a member of this site since July last year. So I am still very new here to compare to you guys, who have been here for years. My respect to all of you fully.

What I observed, since I started to read the posts on LL, is:

A thread is posted by one of you. So far so good.

You discuss things and you are saying to each other: (Username) I have read your post and I agree with you...
Or: (Username) I read your post and I have to say, I don't agree with it, my opinion is...

Or Username) I have just read your post, would you be interested in this link?...

People are DISCUSSING the topic of the thread, which caught their attention, and all is well.
Everybody is respecting each other's opinion and having a polite discussion, exchanging their knowledge and experiences. Peace and intelligent exchange rule. Pleasure to read, indeed. Until...

Enter "username Valus".

Again, just my DETACHED OBSERVATION.

"Username Valus", no need to reply.

What happens to the above mentioned "a" thread after the "username Valus" appears?

Minutes after the "username Valus" pops up, "a" thread is transformed into a hissing, spitting, insulting, spiteful and explosive catfight. Time, after time, after time...

Why,oh why, oh why?!!!

May it be because the "username Valus" is not capable of holding a civilised discussion?
And the "username Valus" has no social skills to hold a debate?
Or the "username Valus" is too immersed in his own opinions to hear his opponents?

Full stop.Sorry.

The "username Valus" poops on people's heads and insults them if they happen to have an opinion which differs from his. He is not able to discuss the topic, he can only insult other opponents. He can only bully them. He can only poop on their heads. If he is challenged seriously, he will send you a smiley or a blue heart. Or he will back off. He is afraid of being bullied himself. He will manipulate you and try to make you his ally. Or, he will call you names if you are still trying to make your opinion heard.

So, Back to "a" thread (any thread) which existed happily before the "username Valus" took part in it. What happens to it?

The thread is forgotten, the subject of it is dropped, the catfight prevails and the thread dies a slow death because people get too tired of fighting the "username Valus" off.

Finita. Finsh. The End of the thread. Flush the toilet. It's over. The thread is dead.

Just my DETACHED OPINION. Thank you for reading.

Wheels has apologized to Valus in the past. I don't remember the thread, but it was after she'd lost her temper over a private exchange between them.

I'm not taking sides, and I don't know Wheels outside of the boards. We aren't friends, in the way that she's friends with others here. I didn't like the arguing I saw going back and forth in the other thread, the other day, but outside of Valus' threads, she would be a great mod.

If i had more time to spend on the Internet, I would be interested . Considering I have been posting here for, what, 10 years now?

But the again, maybe not. I don't need more reasons to want to pull my hair out. Moderating is a thankless job. : p

I believe that Wheels won't be online because she is taking a job that won't allow her computer usage. I'm assuming this from bits I got from here and FB, so, she probably doesn't even know.

However, she did once mention in her KTAA thread, something like, "I wonder why nobody has every offered me a mod position?"

So, perhaps she would be interested if she knew about it. But this is just total supposition on my part here.

I think DarkDreamer would be perfect.

She is very objective type. She never gets into it with anybody. She's never rubbed people the wrong way at all whether intentionally or unintentionally. She's very well liked.

I asked, because I could just see all of this arguing going on, only for Wheels to turn around and say something like, "Pfft. Sod that for a game of cowboys." I don't know her that well, so I wasn't sure.

I couldn't remember where I saw the apology - I think it was this one:

http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum25/HTML/000911-2.html

Anyway, this is me trying to be fair. I can't even believe I'm back here ~ yesterday morning, I walked away thinking that I'd officially been over-thinking this.

quote:
AND

tries to explain to me what kind of a person he is or what my relationship is like.

Sorry, Yin. I thought that you'd sorted that out. And, thank you. I've already told you how impressed I am with you, privately. My first feelings when I saw this thread still going, were of annoyance, but I've had a really bad day, and I get it (I'm easily aggravated right now). I like Valus, and I like Wheels - I'd forgotten that Gypsee said she might not be around much, so I didn't want to be unfair to her (though she was out of line on your thread). I also liked Ghanima.

If I post in this thread again, somebody please send me a virtual kick (I mean, after my quoting Gypsee. below). I don't like debating (I literally feel sick and ashamed, if I feel that I've offended anyone - I'm feeling it right now), and shouldn't even be here, anyway.

Well, if I were to be a mod on any other forum, I'd choose Lexigram Magic.
However I doubt that will ever happen.
As for this:

I honestly can't remember ever seeing
anything this bad here at Lindaland.

I DO NOT KNOW WHETHER TO LAUGH OR CRY IN A STATE OF UTTER INCREDULITY AT THE EGOCENTRICITY, AND "AMNESIA" INDICATED BY THAT STATEMENT.

I am the type of person who would enforce the rules to the letter.....
be it friend or foe....
no favoritism.
Sadly that attitude would cost me "friends".
Reminds me of the time 2 good friends were hired on the job to be my assistants.
The job was a dangerous job.
They were serious stoners.
When either one came in for work stoned, I sent them home.
One decided then and there to deem me his arch enemy.
The other understood I had to as supervisor, to enforce the safety rules and work ethics.

You know that song, 'Fifty Ways To Leave Your Lover', by, umm, Paul Simon, I believe?
Anyway, he says, "..The answer is easy if you see it logically.."

SOOOO, the answer IS easy if you see it logically.
If someone does not like someone, DON'T OPEN THEIR THREADS!!! I mean, how much easier can it possibly be??

If you see a thread with a provocative title, that you find offensive, and you open it, logic says you will be offended, and then feel the need to defend your stance.

This is debating, I get it.
Some people get off on it, and some people REALLY get off on it.

If you leave LL with a headache, and a stomache, something is wrong.

READ WHAT APPEALS TO YOU. WRITE WHAT APPEALS TO YOU, LIKE WILL FOLLOW LIKE, IS IT THAT HARD???

As far as blatant hijacking, that should be a NO NO! And name calling as well, by ANYONE.
Treat people how you would like to be treated.
NO, I take that back, treat people BETTER, be the bigger person, see how it fits, you might like it.

As far as "offensive Material" goes. I think Randall should step in and guide us here.
If you are going to post offensive material, please put a disclaimer. It's not fair to have to see something, when you thought you were reading something else entirely...

Surely all this is common sense, or have I lost my freaking mind??

It sounds like common sense to me.

quote:
I honestly can't remember ever seeing
anything this bad here at Lindaland.

And I've seen stuff on an equal scale, if not worse, in the almost eight years that I've been here.

I won't be back to the thread, so to all.

It's Lord of the Flies in here ~ didn't know LLC2 had this much excitement it's like recess.

I like AG too, so if we're voting mine's for him or HD since I remember them from way back, and they're pretty cool detached people, everyone else I don't really know their tone of posts, etc as am in astro 2.0 the people who I recognize here are mainly moderators already,. was actually gonna say GypseeWind then saw she's already a mod.
