LEXX,

quote:
I did not say that now did I?

Again, to clarify for you,
I meant my evaluation that this is "cool",
and, yes, you clearly disagreed.

quote:
I understand your point of view and in some cases I can see how it could apply.
But again, you assume the worse feedback.

As you can see,
the assumptions are your own.

quote:
And wtf?
Saying you are a true Scorpio and cannot help it is no excuse.
You seem to forget who you are talking to
fellow Scorpio.

I've not forgotten. I was being cheeky,
and I've no need whatsoever for an "excuse".

quote:

"Please, don't feel you should respond
to my earlier post on my account."

Not on your account Valus....please stop being so egocentric.
This is about the subject of suicide....NOT ABOUT YOU.
I want to respond to the topic/philosophies you have quoted....
NOT TO YOU PERSONALLY.
It matters not who posts..it is about the topic not the poster.

There's no need for name-calling, LEXX.
Let's try not to get the thread closed, okay?

You clearly responded to me directly,
and I was speaking with the purpose of saving you trouble,
just in case your response was for me. Yes, it happens.

Blue Roamer said he only visits LL now
in order to hear what I have to say:

quote:

How ironic, Valus is waxing on such depths that most cannot even begin to perceive, and people are arguing about where the post belongs. So typical of this site, which is why I rarely frequent here anymore. I think the only reason I come is to read Valus' discourses.

Valus, it's a wonder you even bother posting here anymore.

http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/004097.html

That's not my ego talking; that's Blue Roamer.

quote:
Then sir, post such musings into a personal blog which allows no feedback from folks.

I do.

quote:
This is an open forum,
NOT your personal..
"no opinions desired here blog"

LOL. You misunderstood me.

By all means, respond for the sake of others,
but not for my sake. That's all I meant.

quote:
That is true and nothing wrong with that;
BUT......
Why bother posting such musings if you do not want feedback?
So if I or anyone agrees...then you want feedback?
And if me or anyone disagrees...then you pretty much tell us to frak off?
Our opinions mean nothing to you and are unwanted?
Not a way to learn there Valus, nor a sign of wisdom.

Nothing personal, LEXX, but:

"The eagle never lost so much time
as when he submitted to learn from the crow."
~ Native American Proverb

As you can plainly see from my posts,
I have many sources to turn to,
and I do not neglect them.

They include the condensed life-experience
of numerous mystics, past and present.

I would not be offended at all
if you neglected my own utterances
in favor of listening to Leo Tolstoy;
or someone more capable than myself.

I'm sorry your pride was stung.

I should not have said that, and,
as you can see, I thought better of it;
I deleted that portion of my response
before you replied to it.

I'm sorry I was too late
to prevent your seeing it.

I apologize.

Thank you and take care.

No comment except to say...
I do care about your well being and peace of mind.
Please take care of yourself Valus.
I sincerely hope you feel better soon and find joy in living.
I have other things to take care of today...
so may not be posting anymore today.
Just got news that my husband has fallen physically ill.

I've rarely felt better, LEXX,
but thanks anyway for the sympathy.

Now take care.

We've exchanged more than enough for one day.

Good health to you and yours.

So many edits Valus...

Don't worry I saw what you originally posted, through this whole interchange. And yet you wonder why people get upset with you.

Doesn't take a genius.

Ab,

I'm not surprised you saw that;
you have sharp eyes for those sorts of things.

Nor am I surprised that you failed to see
the rest of what I had to say.

Thirdly, I'm not at all surprised
that you would throw it in my face --
after I've owned and apologized for it,
and after LEXX has let it go.

I hope we're done now.

Thank you.
The folks at work will bring him home if it gets worse.

Yes, I too saw the original posts.
At the moment.....
no not happy about so many edits....which changes how things really were said...and meant....

However oh well.....
it was not unexpected as usual,
and not worth my time and energy to re-post the originals.

That's how Valus gets people to think he is being ganged up on. He provokes attack, then he edits what he said to appear to be innocent. Not clever so much as it is disgenuine.

"Life is like a box of crayons. Most people are the 8-color boxes, but what you're really looking for are the 64-color boxes with the sharpeners on the back. I fancy myself to be a 64-color box, though I've got a few missing. It's okay though, because I've got some more vibrant colors like periwinkle at my disposal. I have a bit of a problem though in that I can only meet the 8-color boxes. Does anyone else have that problem? I mean there are so many different colors of life, of feeling, of articulation...so when I meet someone who's an 8-color type...I'm like, 'hey girl, magenta!' and she's like, 'oh, you mean purple!' and she goes off on her purple thing, and I'm like, 'no - I want magenta!'"

What do you guys/gals think about preventing edits?

I think a person should have to stand by what they say for good or ill.

Sure does make you think twice before you hit reply button if you can't take it back afterwards...

Yeah, God forbid some of us be impulsive.
Doesn't fly too well with Capricorns, I've noticed. (TONS of personal experience here, BTW)
I think people on LL have limited options as it is. They can't have their posts deleted, they can't have their usernames disabled... Disabling edits is just the last nail in the coffin of free speech.

quote:
That's how Valus gets people to think he is being ganged up on. He provokes attack, then he edits what he said to appear to be innocent. Not clever so much as it is disgenuine.

That is false, insulting and hurtful.

Valus tried to SPARE the drama by deleting part of his post but LEXX didn't let it go until he explained.

Now you both need to voice it too? For what purpose? Does it make you feel better if you can point out someone's faults? Or in this case a friggin' EDIT?
Really?
We are all THIS petty?
What a shame.
I'm sorry I even post anymore.

Duly noted, Ab.

It's good advice, especially for somebody with a tight Mercury-Mars conjunction in Sag. I wonder if you can imagine what that's like. I can be very impulsive when it comes to speaking the truth. Political correctness, diplomacy, etc., doesn't come natural to me, but it doesn't mean I don't have a heart. Venus conjunct my Sun, Uranus, and Midheaven speaks for itself (though not as quickly as Mars/Merc, lol). Moreover, I'm a perfectionist, so it's hard to resist the impulse to go back and refine things when I see a way to make my meaning clearer.

Randall, LEXX,

You can think what you want. People with nasty motives of their own will continue, despite the best evidence, to project nasty images onto everyone who disagrees with them. It's only natural, and it doesn't bother me half as much as it used to. I've had enough experience with people here to know who is temperamentally inclined to imagine only the worst in me, and who is capable of seeing me as a whole. I know who I am.

Yin,

Don't let it bring you down.

It's just the same old song and dance.

All the people I deeply admire
think I'm a pretty neat guy.

And that's enough for me.

I'm not surprised at your response, Yin, since you are blindedly smitten. How does it translate into restriction of free speech that you can't delete your posts? Or your name? The fact that so many people have left over Valus' attacks and he still remains here (is not banned) should be testimony to the fact that free speech reigns to the extreme here. If you can't see that, then you truly are blind. If you wish to not post here any more, feel free to follow through on that, if that is what you desire.

That's another problem of yours Valus--you think your "truths" are THE TRUTH. Back-handed insults negate any hidden morsels of truth that may exist within your sharp words. And "refining to make the meaning more clearer"? Really? REALLY? Is that what you're doing when you attack someone and then go back and edit to make yourself appear innocent in the exchange?

It was this:

We've exchanged more than enough for one day.

That I was referring to, for reference. Not the first part that he edited out...

Yes, I understand that impulsive warrior nature. I have a stellium in saggie - NN/Neptune/Mars which is one leg of my YOD with my Taurus Moon conj. the MC at the apex. The other leg of that is my Pluto in Libra. which squares my Cappy Sun/merc/venus conj. And Uranus in Scorpio sextiles that Cappy stellium. Oh and did I mention I have Saturn in Cancer opp. my Cappy Stellium. And that My Jupiter in Pisces is in the 8th?

So yeah I understand you better than you might think Valus, impulsivity tends to be my undoing...but I don't edit my foot in mouth, when I do it. I leave it there as a reminder to be better.

I do not think that everyone should be restricted because of Valus's editing.
{I had to edit several typos in this post as I am re-reading it)
And I did not let it go...
I simply gave up....
because once he gets the ball rolling for chaos, it does not end until the thread gets closed...which I feel was his agenda.
quote:
There's no need for name-calling, LEXX.
Let's try not to get the thread closed, okay?
I did not call him a name.
But it seems he wanted to get the thread closed.
I should not have responded on this thread to any of his posts because the majority of the time it is indeed his attempts to provoke a fight by pretending he is being ganged up on.
I had the impression that Valus was ill today, yet just a bit later he claimed to be feeling exceptionally good.
I feel I have been played.

There are ways in php to make it so certain functions like editing, can be blocked from certain users being able to use it.
