It really doesn't matter if the person who hurt you deserves to be forgiven. Forgiveness is a gift you give yourself. You have things to do and you want to move on. IP: Logged |

David McArthur & Bruce McArthur, The Intelligent Heart Many people are afraid to forgive because they feel they must remember the wrong or they will not learn from it. The opposite is true. Through forgiveness, the wrong is released from its emotional stranglehold on us so that we can learn from it. Through the power and intelligence of the heart, the release of forgiveness brings expanded intelligence to work with the situation more effectivelyIP: Logged |

Catherine Ponder When you hold resentment toward another, you are bound to that person or condition by an emotional link that is stronger than steel. Forgiveness is the only way to dissolve that link and get freeIP: Logged |

This is a quote on anger, but I think it also applies to the topic of this thread:"Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned." ~Buddha *** Ami, you might want to try this forgiveness process (when you are ready): Click HERE for the Seventy Times Seven process. I have found it to be a very liberating and healing exercise. Btw, I use Cat's version (two-way forgiveness) because I believe it is the more effective one. IP: Logged |

How does one know if she has forgiven? You tend to feel sorrow over the circumstance instead of rage, you tend to feel sorry for the person rather than angry with him. You tend to have nothing left to say about it all. Clarissa Pinkola Estes
