I am thankful for this very un-Octoberish 70 + degree weather... my fall clean-up work is a joy in the Autumn sunshine with gentle lake breezes carrying the smell of apples and crisp leaves.

Gyps, indeed I do . Besides the above mentioned book, go with: Of Mice and Men, The Winter of Our Discontent or Cannery Row.
All carry a good story and a gut punch!

Day 6 (?) I think I'm lost, sounds good though..

Today I am thankful for burning leaves.
I love the smell, and there is something about the Earth returning to the Earth that makes me feel very grounded.

PS> Lovelies, thanks for the book idea. I think I am going with The Grapes of Wrath first b/c that sounds like a story about a vineyard, or the setting is a vineyard? (since Steinbeck is from Cali?) Wine, and vineyards appeal to my Italian roots as well as my bartending job.
Then next will be The Winter of Our Discontent, b/c well.... it will be cold once I get to that one!
Thanks again for the suggestions! I did read Of Mice and Men, it was superb, as well. !

Day #5 for me:

I'm grateful for the unpredictable weather this morning; it started with heavy rain and winds and thunders and a moody weak sun and it turns back to a normal, sweet, sunny, afternoon sun now...

anon, shoot me an e mail at my LL addy on top of forum

Gyps, it`s "kinda" like that but very intense as it plays out. The end of the book made me cry & sob for all lost causes & that tiny spark of hope..

I am thankful for my job when so many have none

Today I'm thankful for my life. I had a close call less than a year ago.

So yeah, I'm thankful for waking up and seeing the sun shine through my curtains, and knowing I woke up another day to see my daughter and family.

1scorp!

I've been feeling exceptionally low, and wishing that I didn't; I have such a great family. It's partially bad PMS, and partially other things.

Day 7.

HEY Lexx, that was a good one, and very telling!

Today I am thankful for my family.
My daughter came over for dinner with my grandson.
He's turning out to be such a weirdo in the best possible way!
He makes all these funny faces to see if you are watching, and then mimics (or tries to!) what you are saying. It's hilarious!
We laughed until our tummies hurt.

Catching up...

* For a nice evening at the pumpkin patch, and then dinner out, on Saturday evening. Also, three nice, huge pumpkins from the farm.

* For having read several books in the past week (although I'm now losing my focus again).

* That my cousin Julie, came through for my aunt on Saturday night, at an event with James van Praagh. If only it could have given her some real peace, but I think it's much too soon to be expecting that.

* Coconut water, added to the green smoothie that I was able to make tonight.

* That I still have my parents. For the past week, I've been feeling the urge to do something I last did in January, when I had a really bad cold, and my back had gone out on me: I rested my head on my mother's shoulder, whilst she watched her show (The Closer) with me.

* The extra fridge outside in the garage, and the one in the house, that we got for free, since my Dad went over to collect it, Labour Day weekend. It's nothing fancy, but it's better at keeping things fresh, than our old fridge was.

* Another lovely day. I was outside on the deck, covered with a blanket, and kept company by Emily and Dora (dogs) until it got dark.

* The smell of burning leaves in the air.

* That something has helped my stomach today. Hardly any issues at all there.

* My camera, and its HD video function. I just wish I'd had something like it sooner. If only it didn't eat up the battery energy so quickly.

Gratitudes:

For good health, even though it fluctuates from time to time but not as bad as before.

My mentor and guide, "D". For his advice, patience and encouragement even when there were times I was stubborn (yes, admitting it).

So grateful for family and friends as well as members here who have stood by me through thick and thin.
