Why absolutely no one in the medical community, our doctors, the hospital,
the pharmacies, and even the diabetes
counseling did not know about this or tell us......?????????????????
Seems the old fashioned insulin costs only like $30 a month including needles.
You do NOT require a doctor's prescription!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sure we would rather use the handy long lasting pen instead of 2x hypodermic a day;
but with the cost of the fancy versions costing 10x or more;
well,
old fashioned will do.

To get decongestants,
the Pseudoephedrine;
you have to show identification and sign a form in order to buy it.
Yet some insulin you can just walk in and buy, no id required.

I told you there was a solution. Maybe positive thinking does work after all?

I did keep my positive thinking going despite my freaking and depression
and his going all suicidal thinking again.
He hates the idea of more shots but it is better than dying!
Weird how NO ONE KNEW ABOUT THIS CHEAP INSULIN
You would think that doctors and hospitals and diabetes case workers would know this.
Or the ADA.
Weird.

Cause the government in the US controls us...

There are much more progressive ways in the, UK for example.

IF insulin and other meds were available OTC the government stands to make lots less money.

American healthcare is all about the $$

SAD! but so, so true.

That is why I preach to my patients, the ones who will listen,, EDUCATION!

Just like weed, for example, the government stands to make more money
that it remains illegal rather than legal.

Pharmaceutical companies and Uncle Sam are bedfellows, KNOW THIS!

blessings Lexx to you and he!

You two will figure a way, I KNOW~~!

By the way, since I am so close to Mexico and there are alot of nationals here
and kinfolk with connects...

Most of them go across the boarder to get their meds.

OTC.

It has become harder and harder especially now that there is passport required
to travel to Mexico.

Friggin USA. Frriggin the almighty dollar....

KILLING us!

I shared the info wal mart had inexpensive insulin and I used the 70/30 as a type reference .
I just walk in and pick it up.

Good news indeed !

I posted at Sweet Peas to YTA; http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum27/HTML/001160-3.html
but re-posting my reply to him here too;
YTA
Thank you for all your advice and help.
I posted about a little known fact on over the counter cheap old fashioned insulin.
http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum25/HTML/004082.html

What angers me is that
NO ONE AND I MEAN ABSOLUTELY
NO ONE
In the medical field, doctors, nurses, diabetes case workers/management classes;
NO ONE KNEW ABOUT SO
NEVER TOLD US ABOUT CHEAP INSULIN THAT
YOU CAN JUST WALK IN AND BUY
NO ID
NO PRESCRIPTION REQUIRED!
Why did no one know about this?????????????????????
Sure we prefer Lantus and the ease of use and safety of it;
but it runs 10x more costly and a prescription is required,
and that means having to find ways to pay doctors.
We are going to see if we can get it (Lantus)
cheap or free from Sanofi.
I will keep you updated on the thread at LLC2
so we do not derail this thread further.
Thank you again YTA{{{hugs hugs hugs }}}
I am saving all the information you have given.
And spread the word because no one bothers to tell us needy folk;
insulin the basic old kind,
is otc and cheap.

PS.
I said we because I am supposed to be taking insulin too for past 10 years or so.
YET NO ONE TOLD ME ABOUT THE CHEAP INSULIN
I COULD JUST WALK IN AND BUY.
I wonder how much of my nerve damage complications
and all are because I could not afford the insulin?
WHY WHY WHY ?????
were ALL THE DOCTORS clueless, EVEN IN ER,
WHEN I WENT IN FOR MINI STROKES;
WHY DID THEY JUST YELL AT ME TO GET MY SUGAR DOWN
BUT NOT TELL ME I COULD GET INSULIN CHEAP AND OTC??????????
lol....SORRY....
I am really angry at this.
We found out on our own.
It took many hours of Google searches to find out about it.
Sigh
maddening insane
arrrrrrgghhhhhhhhhhhhh..............
We are utterly shocked to say the least.

You said you were getting it for your
DOG;

so it never entered my mind that it was the kind humans can use.

So if you did say it was the kind for humans;
I missed that because it was for your pet.

Nevertheless good news even though no one in the medical field bothered to tell us;
and worse,
did not know about it either.

Scary how a smart good nurse like you was not privy to that information.
Nor were the doctors and hospital and diabetes management here.
Yeah;
he got basically no real information on discharge from ICU.
The main doctor told him,
Go read up at Google.
Over $20,000 in medical bills and we got virtually no patient education,
and get told to go learn about it all at Google?????????????
Exactly what are people paying doctors and all for?????????????????
Go to Google..........
fraking geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzzzzz.....

That is where we found it.
Funny thing is get this;
the other drug stores/pharmacies acted like they
knew nothing about over the counter insulin and cheap.
I am sooooooooo damn angry at the medical community etc.
for keeping it a secret and or being ignorant of this life saving information
and not training diabetes management, nurses and doctors.
Get this:
THE INTERNAL MEDICINE DOCTOR;
SAID GOOGLE AND LEARN WHAT TO DO.
So freaking flaming what the hell are these specialists being paid $400 a day
or more to give such advice.
Get this too.........
he only spoke to my husband ONCE....
YES ONLY ONE TIME........
to give Google it advice........
BUT WE GOT BILLED $400 A DAY FOR HIS SERVICES BECAUSE HE WAS LISTED AS MY HUSBAND'S ICU DOCTOR.
GOING TO SWEAR NOW.......
WTF WTF WTF???????????????????????
?????????????????????????
???????????????????
???????????????????

This is insane!!!!!!!!!
Did you read my rant above?
And thank you for the contact information.
WE ARE GOING TO PURSUE IT ALL........
because the Lantus is what we are supposed to use.
For the moment though;
the old fashioned kind is a stop gap.
Thank you YTA{{{ }}}

As Gandalf told Bilbo

Happy for you and your hubby!

As for the medical establishment, no surprise really, keep in mind (and NOT to excuse them) their first goal is CYA.

LOL!
When I take LOTR quizzes;
I am usually rated as being Gandalf.
I have read the trilogy and The Hobbit some 12 times to date.

Lexxigrammer and Hippichick!!! YAH...!!! YOU TELL 'EM!!

You're 'preaching to the choir' here with ME! You KNOW I get up on my soapbox when it comes to dealing with the breakdowns in "the system." I personally watched it, aware... and felt it crumble-- the injustices! The behaviors and acts I've personally witnessed some 'professionals' get away with? They openly flaunted it-- covered for each other! When I tried to alert gov to the fraud, I was dryly informed by the HEAD himself at the time, (directly under George "W"), that

quote:
"There's corruption in goverment, and you're just gonna have to 'accept' it!"

Yeah... In fact, it was a fluke that I reached him by phone, AND it was in April on "Good Friday" during Easter Week that year!! (What a coincidence that I'm writing this with TODAY being "Good Friday" in the Christian world, once again...) They're just too freaking big to fail! So pervasive that it qualifies its-own-self as 'not-corrupt' anymore--- corrupt is the NEW 'normal'?? wha?????

I went into a HUGE shock and depression after I was "told" that!... My life fell off the grid, it dived, and my face scraped along the bottom for a very long time. I had given up ANY hope-- thought that all I had left was to wait, and eventually 'die soon'...

(Alan Grayson is a hoot!! Love that Congressman!!!)

(clip) Alan Grayson on the GOP Healthplan [2:27] "Don't get sick; and if you do get sick die quickly" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-usmvYOPfco

so glad for you Lexxigramer!! Your cookin' now!!!

(continuing)

Becoming interested in astrology literally saved my life!! I was good as gone. To re-start the failed engines of my life has been terribly painful and a herculean task in my imagination. It's a miracle that I still exist right now-- but HA! Maybe I don't know what tomorrow will bring... don't know. I'm still a little beginner at astrology (didn't have money for school), but I'm gaining enough proficiency that I 'recognize' when opportunity is near... There's perhaps another 'shocker' transit for me over the next days-- through @ April 7? Might be like what terrible things happened last December at Christmas time?

[material deleted... ]

ADD: This "reads" like I'm really upset... and I am in one way. I hate watching other people go through what I had to. I know how it "feels"... not a good place at all. But sooo glad of your breakthrough Lexxigramer!
And for myself, I had to just 'give it up'... strangely peaceful now about it. Just hoping like heck that I don't get sick (^ref Alan Grayson again )

[material deleted...]

hmmmm..... CYA? should be a punishable crime if someone does that... I hope they make that into a LAW in the future! It could be written similar to the "Good Samaritan Rule"-- If you CYA and don't help the person in crisis, then you are LIABLE for physical harm, mental cruelty, and emotional suffering!!

(doc) THE GOOD SAMARITAN LAW across Europe, (by the Dan Legal Network) (pdf 20pgs Large font!) http://www.daneurope.org/c/document_library/get_file?uuid=c09228f3 -a745-480b-9549-d9fc8bbbd535&groupId=10103

oy!! better be off to bed... 3am posting again... so much to say

LET'S keep on our "winning" streak, Lexxigramer--- {{{hugs}}} and
