You think this is some huge step towards democracy? I don't see it that way. Regardless of who is the leader, if Egyptian men are still granted tyranny over the women, then the whole system is so messed up, there is nothing to celebrate. America was supposedly a democratic Republic for a long time before slavery was outlawed. IP: Logged |

America was supposedly a democratic Republic for a long time before slavery was outlawed. and... what is your point? faith you are not very clear, I can't believe you speak in ambiguous terms in order to "loose" deliberately your "opponent" in a debate. I prefer to think you are not clearly expressing your ideas because you are not exactly sure why you express your point of view, or if you really have one, besides being AGAINST for the sake of it. You had said: the egyptian people shows to the world what democracy means, while in the west, we pretend we discover our democracy spy on us? "This" means revolution and the mindset of the people driving it. quote: Originally posted by pire: so you are saying rape is a "system" in Egypt? or are are you talking of the "political system"? in which case, what does it have to do with rape?
As the article I posted said: There are no medical protocols for rape, and police treat female victims as prostitutes. Do you see legality and politics as intertwined, the way I do?
quote: Originally posted by pire: and... what is your point?
You seem to be demanding that we have a certain response to these events, that we ought to be all caught up in the glory of it. I'm telling you why I am not. quote: Originally posted by pire: faith you are not very clear, I can't believe you speak in ambiguous terms in order to "loose" deliberately your "opponent" in a debate.
I think you don't understand me because I am a free thinker, and with respect to politics, I don't follow any common trains of thought that you can recognize. I am not a Democrat, nor a Republican. I am neither pro-Islam nor anti-Islam. You are just looking to pin something on me based on the collective I am a part of and apparently don't know how to debate without a split polemical structure. Not my problem.

Well said Pire! I noticed the same thing to. Was going to ask if we should start discussing stuff in another language, but then that isn't fair to the normal people who want to discuss these things to. but would have liked to discuss what is going on with the world, not what's going on in delusional minds more often. why doens't this forum have an 'ignore' option?!

Showing very extreme and delusional views while accusing others of being such. When challanged and finds herself unable to defend her position with actual facts since her opinions are mostly empty and not fully understood by herself (delusion again) she either posts a "copy-paste" response showing no real intellect behind it or lashes out at others who she despises for not believing her views or challanges them (lots and lots of splitting). Result: person is unstable emotionally and uses online pathways to express delusion and hatred since one rarely can be punished online. Lack of any social activity leaves large gaps of time left spent on useless obssession with preaching and "telling truth". A troll... a really messed up troll.

Well i like your posts to most of the time. and do think protest etc are a waste, but it is a measure of things changing. For starters the protests in Brazil did get a law cancelled, that was about to be passed in congress, saying that a certain political elite lot, that was being investigated for corruption (of incredible billions) can neither be investigate nor tried...so in little matters these things do work.
what caused me to post what i did was the last comment u left, before my post, it kind of suggests u know something that other people don't...and that is not true. No one knows where all these things end up leading. I have my own opinion about Egypt, and it doesn't look to good, but i don't think i really know... if anything it is me that is surprised that you wrote that last line... oh well, i guess after reading your next post, i should thank you for at least bringing back the subject to the original post in the OP. sorry for any hard feelings! I didn't mean it that way, I don't think anyone should feel obliged to look at the world from exactly my perspective, and I don't think my take on Egypt is *better* than anyone's. It's just my unique way of interpreting events. quote: Originally posted by jellyfishtry:
