May I ask, what is one of your worst experiences talking to people about BDSM?

My WORST experience was when a dominant wanted to talk more with me about my likes dislikes, etc. Normal stuff, right?

Well, when we first started talking privately, he immediately became demanding in a negative way. It wasn't flirty or respectful at all!

He tried to break me down or something and was telling me that I have no idea about what I want because a dominant has to show me what my likes and dislikes are. The dominant must teach me by pushing my boundaries to find out what I want and what I don't.

He was a seriously caustic person. I got rid of him quick!

I do agree that a Dom is going to allow you to see more of what you want but you are allowed to have boundaries. I mean the Dom has a hard job of understanding the Sub in the first place, it's a give and take. All of the great Doms that I have met say "The Sub really has most of the control because without him/her, I'm alone."

There are lots of different people in the lifestyle, each with their own approach. Mine was rather lax, I view it strictly as role play and I was never interested in a 24/7 type of relationship. Too much codependency for my taste. In my view of things, we are both equals, which happen to occasionally engage in an unequal type of energy exchange. The inequality was strictly limited to those activities. I never thought the submissive has no rights. Or that I am the only one who gets to decide. I like(d) to play ethically and with safeword(s). I treated subs as humane as possible. Since you asked what my most unpleasant experience was - finding out they actually don't like that, that they enjoy being reduced to animals, humiliated and annihilated. Not quite my cup of coffee. I think I approached the whole concept more like a male D would, meaning I found the scenario of seducing my gorgeous manly captive more appealing than dressing him as a sissy, forcing prolonged periods of chastity on him and making him do housework.
