First of all, you do realize he is a man right? So i'm not sure why you are quoting my post to him. Secondly, When did criticizing women become "hating on women"? My contention here is that a lot of women today have become paranoid and feminism to blame.I hardly see how that is hate.

Women are usually paranoid when we have reason to be so.

StubbornVirgo is a woman.

Oh, and I don't hate you.

I'm sorry, I can't ignore this epic thread and feel compelled to throw in a few cents, hope no one minds

Let's talk about it, honestly. So what exactly in the feminist legacy do you blame? The fact that women got the right to vote, perhaps? Is that what you wish were taken away because it made women hate men?

Or do you perhaps blame the sexual revolution in the 60s when women got the pill and the power not to be tied up by pregnancy and the risk thereof, thereby getting sexual independence?

Or do you perhaps blame every theoretician whose agenda was that it's ok for women to have a sense self-worth in a society where worth is mostly still attributed to other individuals by men? Perhaps if women didn't have a sense of self-worth, do you feel your trying to compliment them would bring more fruitful results?

Please explain what among feminism's most obvious victories you blame.

Ok, let's roll on.

Speaking of your experiences. If a woman you complimented was rude to you, it obviously only means she was rude to you, there was a more diplomatic way she might have folded up the conversation if it made her uncomfortable. But people have all reasons for snapping at other people, such as a bad day or a headache or anything. These are no excuses for snapping, but I'm just saying she didn't necessarily have to hate every man in the universe to snap at you at that particular moment.

By the way, quoting other people's rude behaviour as an excuse for your own is lame. Be courteous and polite to everyone yourself if it's important to you, this is what you owe to yourself, not others.

I also agree with Vajra that it's weird to tell a woman she is beautiful unless she's a close friend or something. What you call building a rapport might have meant something completely different to those women you state you had been building it with. People can just chat to other people, can simply be friendly to other people because it seems natural. People can smile at other people just because they feel like being friendly to other human beings, irrespective of their sex.

Last but not least you made a comment that it's easier for good-looking men to get close to women, pay them compliments and such. Why does it annoy you? You seem to be attracted to beautiful women yourself, so why do you blame women who appreciate good looks in men? Still, even though most men don't look like Brad Pitt in the 90s (unfortunately), many somehow manage to get close to women and get dates and whatnot. They must be doing something right, presumably

So, now a man has to be close friends with a woman to express interest or compliment her without being creepy or weird? The rules keep changing. How many times have they changed in this thread alone? See, this is exactly why the law in the OP will be a disaster! It's so f*cking subjective. Basically, a woman will be able to decide for herself what constitutes harassment or a hate crime. Guys like my good friend can grab womens ***** and grope them and he is confident and charming, and I can politely compliment a woman and I am a creep. There are no concrete rules for acceptable or unacceptable behavior. Women just make them up as they go. This is the kind of madness I have a problem with, and it was made possible by modern day feminism.

So basically you're unhappy that women are fine with some guys having a sexual agenda and not fine with you having a sexual agenda? I am tempted to repeat my question: why are you convinced this situation stems from feminism?

No,
I never said or implied that and you know it. My issue is that this law (and other insane laws like it that are sure to follow) will penalize men for having tried. As I said before, it is incredibly subjective and there are no concrete standards for acceptable and unacceptable behavior in regards to approaching women. Basically, this will be used by women to punish men they deem unattractive. There, did I dumb it down enough for you? And why am I convinced that feminism is responsible for this nonsense? That's like asking "well, why are you convinced that the sky is blue?".

Perhaps you should approach women and enlighten them about the adverse influence of feminism and explain how they should react to the advances of the likes of you. As is they are apparently in the dark, poor things, no one to tell them what's wrong with them.

Also,
So you admit that it is ok for some guys to have a sexual agenda? Well, earlier in the thread women were saying its creepy for guys to have an "agenda"? The rules changed again huh?

So predictable, this is the part where I know I've won the thread because the women start acting catty, posting memes, and purposely misrepresenting my arguments.

Yes. Won with stubbornness and hurling insults in a game that didn't exist.

Make another politically correct and cliche statement or post a meme. You are equally good at both of those things.

OMG how old are you, chuckles? 15 or thereabouts? Because this is the kind of age at which "winning a thread" still matters to people.

I know I edited this picture out the first time I posted it, but it should be here after all

Find either. I know for sure that I haven't posted a meme.
I'll be exiting because you can't make an argument without including personal insults.
See ya.

You keep insinuating that women are somehow incompetent in their ability to make a sound judgment for themselves. It's insulting and I do suspect that you intend to come off that way.

No,
I am not saying that at all. Stop purposely taking my words out of context. I am simply saying subjective feelings should not be a deciding factor in legal matters. They will in this law, and that is why I have an issue with it.

This topic SHOWS that we are in the same zeitgeist as pre Hitler times.

People are worrying about relative minutiae like someone giving you are cat all, while really, really, really horrible things are done to women in this world.

These true atrocities happening to women, in the REAL sense of the word "atrocity", are greeted with shrugs, ennui and tacit and overt consent.

Very, very, very, very sad to watch.

Truly heartbreaking-- no joke.

Please stop using inflammatory remarks to stir the proverbial pot, Ami. Minimizing the experiences of other women isn't respectful, either. Considering your own personal experiences that you've shared here on LL, I assume you wouldn't like someone doing that to you.

Ami,

Unfortunately I have to agree with you re Zeitgeist-remark.

And like back then it started with little things (at least in the Western society), that were and are being dismissed as "minutiae".
(it really already starts with the use of language).

Every person in the world deserves to be treated with RESPECT. No matter the gender, colour of skin, religion, homecountry etc.

I for one view it as disrespectful to be whistled at as a sign of objectification and reducing myself to mere "meat", or being physically assaulted (and that includes being grabbed or touched or even having my private distance zone invaded without invitation or even communication before).

Well usually that is quickly taken care of by whistling back at the man in question or even just a very thorough scan of his body. Somehow most men do not feel comfortable with that. I wonder why.
After all I am just flirting, right?

But luckily those men are in the minority (at least those I meet, I must be moving in different circles), and if a man starts a chat with me, I usually will just chat with him, without thinking about any kind of agenda, of his or mine.
Sometimes people are just being friendly, even men.

You and I disagree on many things. I see Astrology as more literal and you see it as more figurative.

You see Astrology as having more choice.

I see is as things being more defined.

However, you are a THINKING person, in my opinion.

You make up your own mind and don't just go with the "consensus" of things, as many people do when they cannot think independently.

I respect that you are an independent thinker, even though we disagree on a great many things.

How could Hitler take over?

Because people were talking about blowing bubbles when there were REAL horrors happening.

if someone gets their butt touched, call the police or call the bouncer of the club.

FOR GOODNESS Sake, have a grip on reality

Yes.

" I see Astrology as more literal and you see it as more figurative."
No.

"FOR GOODNESS Sake, have a grip on reality "
Ditto.

EDIT
And I`d very much prefer to not make this thread about your and my "incompatibility".
