Sad exit for the brave Aussies, clearly a case of BAD REFEREEING! Or was the referee siding the Italians?------------------ Welcome Home to GhostVillage IP: Logged |

Referee DID NOT give the rightful penalty for Aussies, but gave an unrightful penalty for Italy. Aussies are out, but WITH GRACE! Yeah yeah, Portugal v/s Spain final on the cards, but Spain WILL life the cup!

Socceroos should be proud of how well they played the Azzuri.. Just leaves a bitter taste in the mouth to be beaten by a wrongful penalty.. Especially against Lucas Neill who played fantastic at every moment of the World Cup!! Azzuri played well too and loosing Materazzi to a red card which was another bad call by the ref..it was an offence but definately not worthy of a red card.. Congrats thou to Italia.. Australia showed the world we are coming of age in the Soccer arena!! Well done Aussies!IP: Logged |

Socceroos devastated: FFA - AAP Australia had made it onto football's world stage despite its 1-0 loss to Italy, Football Australia chief executive John O'Neill says. Speaking from Germany, O'Neill said the Socceroos were devastated by their loss. "We are really gutted. Sport can be very cruel, but today it was excruciatingly cruel," he told the Seven Network. "The dressing room was incredibly sad, lots of tears." But Australia had proved itself to the world, he said. "We are the great over-achievers. We came here as a lowly-ranked team, lucky to make it in the eyes of the world, but the world has taken notice, big time, of what Australia has done." "There was not a team that we have played who was demonstrably better." O'Neill said there was still widespread support for Lucas Neill, who was responsible for a last-minute penalty kick for Italy. "There is tremendous support for Lucas, he has really been man of the match in most of their games and today it is not Lucas Neill's fault by any stretch of the imagination." "We can debate it until the cows come home, but Lucas Neill can hold his head up. He contributed to Australia getting as far as we did." It was time now to look back on the success of the Socceroos with pride, he said. "The boys have done us proud, we are immensely proud of them. We deserved the quarter-final spot but it just didn't happen," O'Neill said.

Refereeing in Australia - Italy match was so Brazil - Ghana I'd really wish were meeting final. So sad that one of them must go home.

Really sad for Ghana. Personally, I think they played better than Brazil. But oh well, I'm starting to feel that Spain might have a chance against them. VIVA ESPANA! IP: Logged |

I am sorry to hear that Italy and Australia are out, but my co-worker is ecstatic that his team is still in the running. I'll say a little cheer for England just because. IP: Logged |

So incredibly heartbroken that Spain lost. Ridiculous. Poor Raul, it was his birthday today too. . We better see Brazil kick France's a**! REVENGE! At this point, I don't care who wins. Although I'm sort of rooting for Italy since I'm 1/4th Italian. IP: Logged |

Aquasprit, Italy is not out of the game...Will play against Ucrania...but I must say that after that game yesterday FRAxSPA it will be difficult for my lovely Brasil to beat France, I mean not impossible as Brazil is always Brazil, it always surprises...but France yesterday was great. It was the best game till now.

Sorry, did I say Italy? I meant Spain, coz my co-worker was going on about what a great game that was between them and France and mentioning something about Italy. I'm confused and just trying to keep up with his English jargon on the whole World Cup. I still hope England wins....for his sake. IP: Logged |
