I had forseen a Spain-P{ortugal final, and since Spain lost, i have lost intrest in the tourney. As of now I am glad Brazil lost, since they were merely over-rated in the world cup this time, and Roberto Carlos stood like a jackass, when Henry ran to put the goal in, that is truly unprofessional. Ronaldo and Ronaldinho were not given space to play their game, but apart from that, Brazil was nothing but a hype.Even though France did very bad in the first round, their play against Spain and Brazil were very fighting, and all marks for Zidane, and if at all France win this time, it will be an ternal glory for this man. Germany is a total team now, they can play attacking and defending as well, and is the favourites for now. Italy sucks big time too, there is no elegance in their play. Portugal - I believe has a chance to lift the cup, as I said about Zidane, Figo is a true legend and play maker! And as a team they have performed better all through! ------------------ Welcome Home to GhostVillage IP: Logged |

Portugal's really the only team I want at this point. The Azzuri are nice, but they better mind the Germans, theyre on top of their game.IP: Logged |

I beg to differ I think brazil *if* they play to their potential will easily beat any team on earth mars pluto whereever...they are just tooooo good in terms of ability..But this time it looked like they were least bothered about the cup,the were playing like they were doing fifa a favor by playing in the tourney! :O I guess the layers were real tired after looong club seasons,eg:ronaldhino was nowhere near his best...mainly because of a break less club season...whereas,many players in the other european teams wisely rested themselves...and even the aussis harry kewel and vidukla opted out of many games to save themselves for the worldcup... Hey Hot Ice, I tottaly agree with you. Thats it...they are the best. However, they know it and unfortunally this time while the others teams were training a lot for the WC, Brazilian players were dancing samba, playing, eating churrasco, etc.. and not concentrating on the main important thing...win the WC...The result of all that we all know now: France 1 x O Brazil. Its a pitty, maybe next time.... Now I can only say: FORZA AZZURA!!!IP: Logged |

RIGHT ON! Figo is a legend and deserves, but on the same lines I support Zidane too! Let the better one win. I would not care if Germany wins, they are a complete team now, but Italy is a strict no-no. ------------------ Welcome Home to GhostVillage IP: Logged |

Brazil has loads of world-class players but I thought they didn't play as a team, they looked pretty isolated. France played well as a team, and especially Zidane, his passings are so accurate.Anyways there is a trend since 1958 that World cups held in Europe is won only by European teams. ------------------ Don't go to bed angry. Oh yes, I also think Zidane has played well. I can't forget to give props to a fellow Crab.It is sad about Brazil though. I don't think they were overrated it's just that they weren't playing to their potential. And like Betisa said, too busy dancing the Samba and posing for the "Victory Photo" instead of practicing. I swear I am in TEARS. For Portugal to lose by a penalty goal. I was on the edge, crossing my fingers for a 1-1 score into overtime. Sadly, it didn't happen. Seemed to me the Portugese should've been more unified as a team. Cristiano was excellent, but trying to score all by himself. Well, hail to the French. They played a good game.IP: Logged |

Ughhhh, I thought they would tie it up with France. By a penalty shot!! Omg, why??? I really don't care who wins the World Cup at this point. I guess it'll be one of the usuals . But yes, Zidane played a good game Atleast maybe Portugal can get third place over Germany....maybe.

Apparently, the Italian player called him a "F*cking Maghreb". . I like Zidane, a lot, even though I had a huge grudge against France for beating Spain. It was sad to see him carded. I wonder if any charges will be pressed, as it was a racial slur? IP: Logged |

I heard it from here, Dulce Luna: http://community.livejournal.com/world_cup_2006/282430.html But I've now realized that it's largely a rumor, so let's disregard my previous post until there's more news on the subject. Some more discussion on the subject: http://community.livejournal.com/world_cup_2006/286797.html On a lighter note, this picture made me giggle: IP: Logged |
