Some philosophers have argued that the only time we should intervene in someone's self denial is if they are endangering themselves. In this case, Pid's denial is a defense mechanism that helps her to keep going psychologically, is it compassionate to try to break down that wall?IP: Logged |

I can't believe this!Heart--Shaped Cross, stated, he knew Pidaua, would show up, so his intent is clear to me, he did it to provoke her, and others. ... There is already a politcal forum, where this should have been posted. This is disrespectful! Insulting any of God's children, that includes our President is wrong!

BR,A great many philosophers have argued that hurting others is hurting oneself. If a person's denial is hurting, and even contributing to the slaughter of, others, it ought to be addressed, regardless of the detrimental effects to that person's pride and self-complacency. If denial "keeps the person going", we ought to ask, where are they going? Marching like lemmings into war is not the way to go. It may also be argued that, what is hurtful to the one, but helpful to the many, is better than what is helpful to the one, and hurtful to the many. Furthermore, many philosophers have argued that all denial is harmful, and only the truth will set you free.

You both are at fault here, HSC. Plain and simple. I explained that I have had to take care of all 5 of my grandchildren when this all happened and I may be mistaken in who said what first because I could only skim throught the posts fast. I admit my judgment of who said what first may be wrong. Okay? Can we get beyond that? It remains that I would like to see the argument end now. That applies to everyone on this thread. What you stated regarding my name "coming up" on Mystic Melody's thread is quite an understatement, HSC.  I did not reply to her words on that thread and I have no intention of replying to them here. So we can let that go and move on too. One more word about the argument or any continuation of the argument by anyone on this thread and the lights will be turned out and the door locked on this thread. That is the last thing I am saying about it. I don't recommend anyone testing me on my resolve. IP: Logged |
