Wow, your grass is city green  They sure grew up quick! Oh yes, hens are very bossy and demanding. I call chick chick and they come running and I better have something to eat. They chitter and fuss if I come empty handed. we`re getting about 2 dozen eggs a day and are donating. They have a lovely light green, brown, pink and white colored ones.
They taste so yummy too. ------------------

They're doing well if slightly neglected with the new baby (not as much time in the mobile run, more "deep littering" of their coop and attatched run rather than a good cleaning).
I've had some postpartum medical issues and have been slightly knocked out - and concerned with contracting a secondary contact infection when I haven't been.They've been getting lots of watermelon and corn to compensate, though, and I have the older girls go pick them "yard greens" (weeds) to keep them happy. ------------------

Oh!
A while back they were attacked by a raccoon while in their mobile run.
The little bugger reached through and tried to mangle them. Luckily, only feathers were lost, though one of our Welsummers was kept in isolation for a bit so the other hens wouldn't attack where she was raw.

No eggs until late August or September, probably.On another note, we're about to trap a raccoon - little bugger bested what we thought was a pretty good chicken feed storage/protection system. ------------------

I didn't get a good shot of hem today (they were in their coop and running around), buuuuuuuut: 
OUR FIRST EGG!!! It's from one of the Easter Eggers (note the green color).
It's small because it's an early example of what our girls can do (first eggs tends towards being that size). ------------------
