Our next few days: We had some snow today, but it had melted by the afternoon. In recompense for not being able to go out, I gave the biddies about 3 slices of leftover apple pie. As I watched them eat, I thought, "And on the fifth day of Christmas I gave the chickens DIA-BEETUS!" ------------------ If I've included this sig, it's because I'm posting from a mobile device. LOL - You know, I'm not quite sure yet. I have until March to think about it, though. We're going to use some Christmas money to build a larger coop and run + buy some more chicks for next April (including a rooster http://www.mypetchicken.com/catalog/Day-Old-Baby-Chicks/Barred-Plymouth-Rock-p231.aspx ). The coop will be a bit like this: http://www.mypetchicken.com/catalog/Chicken-Coop-Plans/Garden-Coop-Building-Plans-up-to-8-chickens-p535.aspx but slightly modified. Hm... IP: Logged |

Look at the Welsy go! Perfect speckles and large. Wonderful they are so healthy and surviving the pesky coons. Our biddies, as usual, had heat lamps all winter. One blew out and I put a flood lamp in until I got another heat lamp one. Well low and behold, with 14 hours fake daylight for about a week, the biddies lined up and started laying. When the roads cleared and I could get out to the feed store, we replaced the flood and the ladies are back to normal... sporadic ------------------ We need to listen to our own song, and share it with others, but not force it on them. We had our first confirmed 4-egg day There have been several suspected ones, but no one's brought all the eggs in at once before. ------------------ If I've included this sig, it's because I'm posting from a mobile device. They're large, but I also have small hands (size small or xs gloves). My Mom's are bigger, and she's 5'2'' (I'm 5'9").------------------ If I've included this sig, it's because I'm posting from a mobile device. Please excuse all outrageous typos and confusing auto-corrects. IP: Logged |
