(although I do strongly sense his lack of real passion and I don't know that he is capable of achieving the depth I give and desire in return) strong eye contact is very important

you would blush looking into my eyes.

Whereas Cancer plays in tidal pools, going back and forth between the sea and it's shoreline and Pisces seems to encompass the whole ocean, I've always thought of Scorpios as being the more Earth bond bodies of water, like reservoirs made in deserts. They are unexpectedly deep people. While the other two signs seem constantly churning, these guys are very still, so much more about them than what appears on the surface.

What do you mean you could never "beat" a Scorpio?? At what? tennis??? With respect, we're all the same - stare someone dead in the eye for too long and it will have an unnerving/aggressive effect. That's just basic human psychology. I dont mean to sound rude, but why put yourself down? I have never once been intimidated by a "scorpio stare" and I have had plenty. The most intimidating stare I have ever had came from a extremely aggressive, psychotic patient I had to deal with - she was an Aquarius. That look will stay with me forever.

I never understood the hype about Scorpio stares. Some Scorps do have intense eyes but I've never felt any magical-ness, out of this world feeling from it.

I think what makes it "intense" is that Scorpios often actually hold a stare for longer than most.

I've been told that I have an intense stare by a LOT of people. When I look at them (or just stare out in the nothingness, people always say that it's like I'm undressing their soul in my mind or that I have a judgmental look. Others say that they think that I have this look in my eyes that says "I'm thinking/know something and I'm not telling you" even when I'm not actually thinking of anything. ^__^

Weird, but I've never really known any Scorpios to have a piercing stare, and I've know quite a few in my life (even dated one). Their stares are just like anyone else's in my opinion and I definitely would not be able to spot them in a crowd and say "You're a Scorpio". Maybe I'm not good at identifying piercing eyes. I don't know. I did, however, know one Scorp who made me feel quite uncomfortable because of how much he'd observe me, but it was the quietly observing part rather than the stare itself that made me squirm. He didn't necessarily have to be looking directly at me, but I'd feel as if he were drinking me in from the corner of his eye and actively piecing together a picture of my character in his head. He'd also remember absolutely everything I'd say (I know that's a Scorpio thing), and would even quote some things that I'd said but completely forgot about. It was like "Wow! I can't believe you actually remember that, that was frigging insignificant. I could have changed my mind since then!" However, unlike a Scorpio, he was the type who needed compliments all the time. In his own words, he said he "never tired of them", which was interesting. He needed them more than I did, and I'm a Leo.

Yeah. I mean, don't get me wrong, I think that Scorpio is a marvellous sign, but I just get the impression that the piercing stare reputation is a bit over hyped for them. I think a lot of the times a person may not think anything of the Scorpio's eyes until the topic of signs may come up and when the person says "i'm a Scorpio" the other might think to themselves "oh yeah. Come to think of it you DO have a bit of a piercing stare" and start studying their eyes more, so a bit of it is psychological and confirmation bias. I guess there's one Scorpio I can think of who has the piercing stare and that's Joaquin Phoenix, but when he opens his mouth and talks I'm afraid his voice does his lovely eyes a disservice. He sounds too pedestrian in my personal opinion.

I'm a Scorpio Ascendant. I have no idea if I have the Scorpio "stare." Sometimes I feel like I'm staring intensely. Maybe I am, maybe I'm not. No one's ever commented on my stare, but I've probably been caught staring at someone before.

This is really interesting to read because I'm surrounded by Scorpios (I think they're amazing) and although I'm an Aqua I've noticed they TOTALLY stare you down. Because I maintain pretty direct eye contact I always stare right back.

I don't think it's too intentional, Scorps are curious people who need to know everything about someone. They just ooze that Pluto power, ykno? And when they're talking or listening, the blank stare they give can make chills run down your neck. They're analyzing you. Luckily they can be big softies, if you make them smile the ice instantly melts.

One Scorpio friend I have always does this, when he's talking amongst a group of friends, he zones in on me because I never glance away when he stares. It's a little power game we like to play

I'm a Scorpio sun, merc, Mars and Pluto. My whole life I have struggled with the 'Resting ***** face' people used to always come up to my friends and say I don think think your mate likes me! I didn't realise so now I have to force a smile on my face at all times like a crazy person.

Sometimes when I look at people it's brief, other times it's not I never feel awkward looking at someone in the eye and if they notice me looking I won't look away. Different things run through my mind while looking at them, I wonder what that persons thinking or been through, why are they here, are they happy, maybe I fancy them and if so I'll make it known but sometimes i just like people watching

I have five planets in Scorpio myself plus Scorpio occupies my 8th house. I don't know if it's been said before but apart from the intense stare I think that a lot of Scorps always have this hint of sadness in their eyes/stare - think Joaquin Phoenix or even Leo DiCaprio sometimes.
