Heh, Sunny, well, if they don't kill each other, they end up beating the will to live out of one another. Interestingly, one astrologer warned me against EVER getting romantically involved with a Scorpio, because my Pluto rising would be like a face off with a Scorpio Sun, and my Aqua Mars would only add fuel the fire. She said basically such a relationship could turn into physical abuse with someone ending up in the ER or the morgue! LOL.

I feel I should add something.
I make eye contact. I can really 'feel' the people I am speaking to, through a fusing of our eyes and rather than being off-putting, people say I make them comfortable, and like they can talk to me. ( I should have been a psychologist, I suppose that's why I love astrology as well.)
Depending upon my mood, or the others' mood, I will definately look away. If I am making them uncomfortable, I don't want that. There are times when I feel eye contact is too intense.. it almost freaks me/the other person out. To much infomation, and sometimes the person is reduced to stammers, I will kind of signal with the eyes that I understand, I think alot of body language is understood this way.. we both know something about our interaction was a little too much. Something to share. A moment.
My eyes are very Leonine. Yellow/green/gold.

I agree with Pix word for word, except I have big brown eyes. But every single thing she said applies to me too, maybe since we have some Libra & Scorpio influences in common.

Like I said, if someone tries to guess my sign they almost always say "Scorpio" first, although I'm Libra with lot's of water. My eyes have always been the most sensitive when it comes to being around others. Sometimes I have almost a phobia of making eye contact with others, like out in public. I absorb people's vibes so easily.

One thing I've been told many times in my life, when I look at a person who has made me really really angry, they'll always say, "If looks could kill"...

That's news to me. Perhaps it's just that Scorps are more inclined to speak to other Scorps about their stare - or they're unaware of it at all. All though obliviousness isn't something I'd generally assign to Scorps. In any case, I find that Scorps tend to be kind-of proud about their abilities (I mean, didn't Scorp come in #2 in biggest ego, after Leo? LOL)...

Was it Linda who said that from the time Scorpio's are very young, they work at their poker face...

I'm not sure where I read it, but it was a long time ago and I think that's true. Check out the Scorpio's, especially the women always have a kind of serene Mona Lisa look to them.

"Calm waters run deep".

Hi Sunny Mav!
Cool topic! As a Scorp sun I can definitly emphasise with everything u said!!
I was brought up to look people in the eye - some people get nervous and fidgety (I think their not used to the intensity) others seem to 'slow down' (if u know what i mean) and look back in my eyes, and its like we're in tune with each other (same as fellow Scorp Pix was saying!) Ive found this connection strongest with Taureans and other Scorps/moons! (dunno why.. opposites maybe!!)

I think we stare because we like to know people, and we get to know a person and can kind of 'feel' people out through eye contact and that makes some people scared!
BTW, have u ever been in a car/bus or something and met someones eyes for a second out the window and they look away then quickly look back with a funny 'who are you/I recognise you?' expression??!! lol!!
And when people look at you, its like their shining a torch at you and u immediatly look straight back at the light...? I always feel eyes are like that!!!

Also, Yang, thats really true about focusing on one eye, flickering at the two just makes me dizzy!! Ive just realised I seem to focus on their left eye!! How about u!!?

Sun-scorp, that's actually what I was going to say about Scorps! That they want to get to know you and see what your all about. After all the eyes are the window to your soul. I have 2 brother's who are Scorps and my hubby is one. They give that intense look to feel you out as well, as to what your thinking and feeling. I also notice that when they are mad they will give the "stare", mostly when they are shocked by you. I'm used to looking at them in the eye when talking and don't find it threatening. Maybe I'm used to it or could it possibly be because of my Venus is in Scorp? Well, all I know it's usually a get to know you better look than it is a threatening one. If a Scorp is going to threaten you, they probably won't even look at you at all! Believe me. I know.

you know, you could never find more Scorpionic creature then my closest girfriend..and she doesn`t stare, surprisingly to me.
She does stick her nose everywhere because she is eternaly curious, her way of comunicatio is pretty passionate, her walk is like a puma ready for a jump and she goes commando most of the time -
but nah...she doesn`t stare

P.S.
forgot to say -
she is a Sun Scorpio, Moon Scorpio, Ascendant Scorpio, Mercury Scorpio, Venus Scorpio and Mars Scorpio..oy!

(the other numerous Scorpios in my life do have deep penetrating eyes thou, I have to agree)

After having this topic in mind all week, while talking to people, I just realized I get very uneasy when I make direct eye contact all through a conversation. I have to break away a lot. It's like information overload. I'm listening then a part of me feels like it's absorbing the other persons energy/emotions. I get overwhelmed by it. It's a lot like AJ said w/ picking up vibes.
But like I said before, I do observe people a lot. I dont even know Im doing it anymore but I think its noticeable. I had a guy tell me once that I have a stone like expression, but my eyes are always sweeping around the room.
I was kind of insulted because I imagined one of those creepy statues hehe

All he did was notice that you were noticing yourself...

Yeah - for many years I literally could not look people in the eyes. Think it was a stage...

Will always be that way to an extent, I just see the worst in people sometimes, like with whatever is happening with this Virgo influence giving people shorter tempers now than ever... Sometimes I curse at all humanity!!!

I've always been impressed with people who can just be in their own world.

I have light blue eyes - like Scorp Baby, I think I have more of a Pisces look about me. I tend to avoid eye contact largely because the kind of awareness it brings is distracting, especially when I'm trying to listen to people - that is, to what they are saying (verbally).

If I'm not careful, my face betrays even the slightest passing sentiment (Moon in the 1st).

I've found that I tend to "shock people back into themselves". I like to watch people, and, occassionally, we will catch eyes for a split instant - and in that instant, I see them suddenly become rudely aware of themselves in the Here and Now.

Generally, though, my "stare" is both gentle and firm... And reassuring to people, because they take the intensity to mean that I am utterly attentive to them. If only they knew HOW utterly attentive...

In peace there's nothing so becomes a man
As modest stillness and humility:
But when the blast of war blows in our ears,
...Then lend the eye a terrible aspect;
Let pry through the portage of the head
Like the brass cannon;
let the brow o'erwhelm it
As fearfully as doth a galled rock
O'erhang and jutty his confounded base,
Swill'd with the wild and wasteful ocean.

Shakespeare's Hashpipe.
That would be a good name for........ something.
I was watching a program on drug use and rock, and they went into the history of creativity and drug use.... They found a hashpipe that belonged to him.
Then there's Van Gogh and the Absinthe... etc etc.

Wow, everyone has such an interesting point of view on this! Thanks for posting. Astro Junkie, you are right I don't think that scorps usually talk about their stares, even though Linda said that we practice it as kids. I didn't even realize that I had a "stare" until this year and people that have known me for a while starting telling me that I have always had one. Then I started to pay closer attention and I realized my habits.

I agree that it's mostly us just observing people. I can sense a lot about a person and that's why I like to look them in the eye a lot, not to mention it's a sign of respect. I don't like it when it's another scorp though because it's just overload and I get a little overwhelmed and I have to look away. I don't have a specific expression, just an intense amount of eye contact I think, although when I am irritated with people, I've been told that I look at people as if to say, "You are stupid and you need to stop talking now." I'm really not a mean person so I was shocked when I heard that! I've been keeping that look under a tight lid though. Mostly you can't tell what I'm thinking and I prefer it that way.

Sunny

I'm new to the board... joined because my eyes caught the Scorpio Stare thread.
I have always been told I have an intense stare... but not that it's evil or mean. I also do the "lift one eyebrow in question" thing, which I think takes away from the intensity of the stare.
I can't control it. Teachers used to call on me in school all the time.. that's what I got for paying attention. But, I have never had a staredown with a Scorpio I didn't know.. just with Scorpio friends.
