What is claddagh ?

Yes, unfortunately, being the daughter of a jeweler and a long line of them, and studying stones myself, I am pretty keen on certain stones. I love blue topaz, sapphire, emeralds. As for diamonds....it's the white kind I don't like so much. But black diamonds? Oooooh man

OK, this a black diamond ring, but it's not focused on the stone obviously. I'm not a huge fan of yellow gold, but I love how intricate the design is on this one:

Another exception to white diamonds....cool design:

I love the greenish fire of emeralds :

When it comes right down to it though, I'd be happy with a plastic ring, I don't really care. These are just likes.

Very beautiful rings!
You and I like the same stones!
I do not usually care for yellow gold either, but I do love the intricate scrollwork on that one!
The black diamonds work well there!
And emeralds can handle being set in yellow gold as that last ring shows!

Anyway, I am sentimental about jewelry that doesn't come from a CHAIN. If it's been handmade by someone I know, or was a vintage ring (which is what I wanted), I could have never, in a million years, sold the thing.

I totally know what you mean, I don't particularly care for chain jewelery. My ex, however, was a fan of it. Blame it on the libra venus, but he loved wearing things 203493 people already have. *shakes head*

Personally I think diamonds are overrated and a bit shady given the bloody history over them, but gosh I've never seen a black diamond before.

Just give me a ruby (my birthstone) anyday and...GAAAH, emeralds!

I have a claddagh necklace and earring set that's still sitting in my room in Rhode Island....the hearts in each are emerald.

I'm a little late in responding.

I don't know offhand if Alvarez is good. I have considered Ibanez, though. I just went to Alvarez's site, and the site's not designed to show off their guitars very well. It's a technician's site, not a copywriter's, and by that I mean it's minimalist in its details and descriptions. That said, I do have a good impression overall.

I have a Takamini acoustic/electric (EG-15C).

It's interesting to hear you all talk about the move away from diamonds. Seems like a generational thing to me, a moving away from obvious decadence to a more subtle, refined taste.

Yeah, I think there's something totally generic and scripted about recieving a diamond ring, but then again its in my nature to be against whatever's generic anyways.

"...a moving away from obvious decadence to a more subtle, refined taste."

Oh, I'm not so sure about that

I certainly don't mind decadence if it's done with enough class And like you, Dulce, I think it's just that white diamonds are soooooooooooooo boring, like a song that's been overplayed and overexposed on the radio, you just say enough already!
I agree about the bloody history of diamonds....it's pretty awful.
Though between black diamonds, champagne diamonds, and other ones with vibrant color, it's kind of hard to resist. And boy oh boy are those expensive.

Yeah, there's nothing really subtle about my taste in jewelry either....could be the Moz in me but yeah.... For me, I just like it as long as their's something original about the piece about it and not generic. Everyone has that classic diamond ring around their ring finger (I live in a marine town with a large population of young marine wives in case you're all wondering ) and I definitely want something different if I ever decide to get married.

LeapingL, I actually have a thing for yellow gold over white gold but its most likely because it looks better on me.

Hi MVM, it's aquamarine, it's lovely huh? Just putting it out there into the ether....!!!

Actually MVM, on second thoughts I'd like it shoved very hard up the bumcrack of that landlord who just ****ed me over, so that if he opened his mouth you'd be able to see it sparkle. (see my thread for reference).

Just putting it out there in the ether!
Sharin' the lurrve and not bitter AT ALL.

Well, it was moving forward until this afternoon.

Family crap. I can't believe how furious I am at my little sister right now. I can't believe the level she's stooped to.
