Thats one from his 'darker' times isn't it? The ones from his period of...well I don't know if want to call it 'insanity' but I think he had encephalitis at the time he came up with paintings like that. Its interesting the things a mind can produce under such circumstances IMO. The ones have drawn me in the most from him are the Black Duchess of Alba portrait and this one from the 'May series'. Goffick 8th house moon FTW! hahaha IP: Logged |

So for some reason I'm experiencing difficulty posting in Metatron's Celebrity thread so I'll put my thoughts on the subject here...LOL.
I've been drawn to this guy since I was 10 years old I don't know why I never looked into this but his sun conjuncts my Juno in cancer, and he has a scorpio moon (I have an 8th house moon). His ascendant is unknown, but if I had to take a wild guess, it would be a capricorn one like mine. This may sound crazy but I believe this is just another sign that I'm destined to marry another cancer in life. *facepalm* IP: Logged |

I like his lips and his nostrils. I am not a nostril person, but for some reason I am having a thing for this man's nostrils I have a thing for John Cusack and he's a Cancer too. I also have a Sun/Moon midpoint in Cancer (explains why I love you guys) So... his damn sun conj my SN closely. At some point the guy was evading my dreams (but 'he' was actually helping). Totally WEIRD. How are you? I hope you're doing well I'm leaving for CA on the 16th... woohoo. When are you going to move, woman? What's keeping you where you are now, if you don't mind me asking? MyVirgoMask: That is sooooo weird that John Cusack is a cancer, because when Raśl (man pictured above) had shorter hair, he use to remind me of Cusack...hahaha. I don't know, its more than looks for me and Raul (crazy I know), its his air, his work ethic, his charm and....Ooooolala. And I'm doing okay since my highschool friend is actually in town (she has family here) so we're going to the beach tommorow. I ended up in North Carolina because financially and schoolwise...things were not going great up in RI. LOL The Cost of Living is cheaper in NC and well, my mother's here. But once I get certified as a CNA,I hope to move back to Rhode Island or atleast to Raleigh or Wilmington where there's alot more to do. Unmoved: Yes, I'm still into footballers....nothing's changed. hahaha You are SO lucky! I *fully* intend to be in Mozambique for South Africa '10 if my passport is not done in time for me to go this year. I would like to be there with you to tackle certain players....in addition to being a part of the atmosphere. Sadly, Raul most likely won't be there but oh well. *le sigh*

Cancerian food moment of the day....So I'm watching "Bizarre foods with Andrew Zimmern" on the Travel Channel (like I said, I watch some pretty random shows) where the guy goes to Puerto Rico. So my mother points out how similar Puerto Rican cuisine is to Mozambican one in alot of ways (minus their consumption of pork and use of Goya). They have the same love for Ox tail, little fishies, rice and beans, and the empanadas look alot like samosas. IP: Logged |

Ooops sorry, MVM! Looks like I shouldn't be watching food shows late at night once again. I *almost* envy his position sometimes....like when he went to Goa and Delhi in India. (That's a place that's influenced Mozambican cuisine btw) The times I don't envy him is when he has to eat certain things from nature. ROFL IP: Logged |

LOL on tackling certain players. I wish I could reprimand you and tell you to behave, but... I can't because I'll probably be right behind ya! It's a dam shame about Raul. He's a hot one. Yummmy! Listen, if you happen to make it this side, and if you would like a familiar energy (so to speak) there is an option of meeting up for drinks, okay? I am going to the opening game of the Confed Cup this Sunday. I don't have suite tickets this time, so I won't be able to do some proper stalking, but on other games I might get closer to the players. If I do (pleeeeease God let it happen) then I will take some pics to share with you. I'll probably be with my guy so I will have to behave, though. hehe. IP: Logged |

YOU'RE GOING TO THE CONFED' CUP? *JAW DROP* I'm not sure who I want to win but it looks like an interesting match-up....which is why I'll be TiVo-ing it on ESPN. I am sure of who I want to lose though *cough*Italy*cough*. And meeting up in SA in '10 (if I'm able to get a ticket there) would be great, I appreciate the invation. I can't wait to see who shall qualify for this....especially on the Continent. Although one team I'll say I am surprised about is Argentina....they're in danger of not qualifying for the World Cup. I guess that's a good lesson that Legends (Maradonna) don't always make good leaders/coaches. I mean, imagine what would happen if Cristiano Ronaldo was made the boss of Portugal one day?

Okay so on this other forum I haunt there's a thread called Unpopular Opinions where you voice them and people agree or disagree and well....all hell usually breaks loose as result. Anyways, I think I wanna voice one of mine here....... I'm not a big fan of Afrocentrists (from the U.S.) and probably never will be. Why? They have such a narrow view of Africa and Africans. Irony sucks.

Benedict, I'm from Rhode Island and am curious to know your opinion of our lovely Governor Carcieri...? ... I can't wait to be done with school and leave this joint. Were you ever repulsed by the abundance of overly tanning-bed baked males who paraded around the state with their parents' BMWs, humongous cubic zirconia earrings, and sunglasses worn day and night?IP: Logged |

Hahaha, I've been living in North Carolina for the past year (though ironically, as I speak, I'm in Rhode Island for a visit). What do I think of Governor Carcieri? *snorts* And YESSSSSS, the Guidos are F-cking annoying! Especially on Route 95...they can't drive for shiiite and encountering them on my way to Level II or Ultra or wherever we decide to enjoy our night. And OMG they look horrible....for God sakes, take a break from the tanning bed, the hair gel, the eyebrow sculpting...just urrrgh.

I am not a fan of all Afrocentrists, especially the American ones too. Funnily, there are Africans who over-compensate their African heritage. I am not against being proud of one's heritage, but some do it to validate themselves more than to pay homage to their ancestors (which is why I get into African gear, to pay homage to my ancestors, not fr any practical reason.) As for my Afrocentric viewpoint, well, I am an African and I can not have any other view/attitude than that. Why do I feel this, seeing as I am African? Because they are all self-righteous hypocrites who have no idea what they are doing. This means that just because they are anti-weaves, bead wearing, shave-hating "real" people, this doesn't make them African. I don't know what makes someone African, but wearing beads is not it. "Acting" African doesn't make a person African. Being African is something else, something spiritual, and to the disappointment of many American and European Afrocentrists, being African doesn't have anything to do with a person's skin color. It's so funny, and quite offensive that I get American Afrocentrists tell me that I am not African enough because I don't walk around wearing cow hide, or whatever criteria on which they derive their opinions/skewed observations. Come to a Caucasian person who was born in Africa and call them European. They will correct you to tell you that they are African. Being African is so much more than some people think because environmentally, Africa conditions people in different ways. Anyway, I call them "brothers and sisters of the soil" (because they love the color brown), and I say this as I roll my eyes. They are annoying. They are so caught up in primitive expression of self, being boastful and arrogant that it is nothing like the Africa I know since humility is the cornerstone of our culture. I am into ancient things but I am not into primitive things. People evolve and the Afrocentrists are stuck in a time warp of centuries past, and this is not natural. What is natural is evolution, not stagnation and they are stagnant and judgmental. Afrocentrists exhibit qualities that aren't African at all. Yes, we, Africans, are proud, but we are more subtle and truly down to earth about our pride. IP: Logged |

WOW, preach it! I couldn't explained it better, Unmoved. And yes, essentially you're right. As an African I can't be anything other than Afrocentric but its a totally different from the shallow concept people here in the States have. And all my problems with the concept is all those things you said. Africans cannot be lumped together in one skin color or culture. I cannot tell you how many times I've heard their notion that Berbers are not indigenous Africans because of their fair complexion. Or that Euro-Africans (descendants of settlers) are not real ones either. Like WTF? How arbitrary is that? Even my dad used to **** me off with the way thought my *American* stepmother was 'more African' than my mother just *stepmother* embraces *his* culture more readily than mom did AND because my mother's kitchen happens to be decorated in the Portuguese fashion (something alot of urban Mozambican woman do). That was another WTF moment. But of course because I dress Western, sometimes wear my hair 'unnaturally', happen to have some European/Asian ancestors, I don't wear the *West African* Kente, and I'm not stuck in a time warp.....I'm not a 'real' African. Its just sad how shallow some people can be. IP: Logged |

I totally Get you Benedict Moon. Totally! It always angers me to speak of these people so I will not go any further. Instead I will talk about soccer/football.So I went to the opening game. We missed the ceremony. LOL, there is a bus system which meant that we left our cars at a designated place and then took an allocated bus to the stadium. The bus was slow because the ceremony started at 15:00 and we boarded the bus at 13:00. It wasn't that long a distance but the bus took some long route which made no sense. Then, when we got there we had to deal with 48 000 people trying to get into the small gates. When we were finally in, it was 30 minutes before kick off. The game was South Africa vs Iraq. We drew the game which didn't impress anyone there, save for maybe the Iraqis. I did understand that a win would have been better, but the people I was rolling with acted as if we lost, and were depressed by the draw. So, we went out after the game to "drown our sorrows". I wasn't sad though. So, this weekend I am going to watch South Africa vs Spain. It should be a better game and I think the Spanish will give my companions a real reason to be sad. It's n0t that I am not supporting our team, I am being realistic. We are talking about Spain! Anyway, later Benedict Moon. IP: Logged |

Oh no, I'm sorry re: the ceremony. If it makes you feel better, I missed the opening match due to being on the road for 12 hours. *le sigh* Oh wow, maybe they were sad because they didn't get the three points? Even so, its the Confed' Cup we're talking about, not the World Cup. This is really one of those tournaments that is only pure fun IMO...haha. And I see what you mean re: Spain, but do look foward to an entertaining match atleast. Actually, a bunch of my favorite European players are on that squad...LOL. The one game I watched that was entertaining was Egypt/Brasil....The Italy-U.S.A match was snooze-worthy. No offense to all the Brasilians I know, but Egypt deserved to win that match (even though that guy clearly deserved the red card). Brasil could not control the match at all the way they used to, the Egyptians were always able to catch up. One of them scored a fantastic strike (I think it was Zidan). Anyways enough rambling, I'm off to go watch Spain-Iraq now. ^__^ IP: Logged |

Okay so Iraq didn't beat Spain (not that I had favorites in this match) but they weren't very unevenly matched. Iraq may have been slow in the attack and the counter, but they made up for that in the midfield and the defense. Spain, on the other hand, has just had all-around good form for quite some time now. Some ppl even think they may win the World Cup which I wouldn't mind since I've liked Vincente Del Bosque ever since I started supporting Real Madrid in 1999/2000-ish. In other news: My virgo moon and gemini venus is muito hhhhhhappy! I've found a bunch of my favorite books (that I'd thought were long since lost) at my mother's house up here in RI while cleaning out the basement and my room (there was a flood in it that destroyed alot of things, but thankfully not the books).
Btw, is an aqua moon any indicator of someone who likes to throw out *valuable* things? My mother threw out alot of stuff today that she shouldn't have. She just kept saying 'I don't want the clutter, I don't want the clutter'. I understand that, but when you go to such extremes........ IP: Logged |
