One of those arguments for Sun Signs:

I think that Sun signs can indicate certain things. For example – I worked at an outpatient mental health facility a few years ago, not for people with minor bouts of depression, but for people with Axis I psych diagnoses such as schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, etc. I had access to a database with all of the information of the clients in the county. One of the spreadsheet columns was for D.O.B. so of course, I had to run a report by birth date only (I removed the names) to see what signs showed up in the clinic most often. It turned out that there were very many Geminis and I think, maybe a handful of Libras out of hundreds. At first I was puzzled ”they are both air signs” hmm, that was what really got me stuck. I told my mom and being the double Cap she is she said “Gemini, the Twins, split personalities and Libra, the Scales, balanced”. Ohhh! I think I would have realized that eventually (ahem). But yeah, it was that easy and by Sun sign only. I know, I know, that seems overly simplistic and not representative of the entire population (it was only a sample, I [heart] statistics) but I think it actually is simple. I tend to notice things like that all of the time (Pallas in the 1st house), even recently, I temped at an orthopedic surgeon’s office and I noticed that most of the people who were on workers comp were Libra and Sagittarius, don’t know why, just the overwhelming majority.

that is very interesting downtown mars. very interesting. i wonder percentages of people collecting unemployment by sign. i would wager less leo, virgo on the rolls than sag, cancer, pisces...leo- because they would scrub toilets for 6 bucks an hour before asking any breathing person for anything, virgos...obvious reasons.....

i think we veer away from sun sign generalisms, but sometimes it is that simple. take the asc in account and it is quite telling.

very interesting indeed.

Yep.
I noticed when I worked at the doctors office, that sun signs played a huge part in what the illness was.
Since I managed all the charts I was able to see the birth data and the medical problem.
Some times it is that simple, like CPN said. Otherwise why would there be 9 million (just a random number) about Sun signs?
But seriously, Aries people, I set them up for more cat scans then anybody else.
If someone was clutching their arm or leg in pain, wearing a sports uniform, very likely sag.
I referred more Caps to the ortho doc than anybody too.
So just some food for thought.

Was thinkin about something last night as well.....
What really is the difference between your sun and asc? Okay, so you feel like your sun, but you act like your asc??? That doesn't add up for people with majorly start contrasts in the two signs.
For me, sag/sun, aries/asc, it all looks the same. Hard to really tell the difference there.
And why would your asc show how you look? I never did understand that....

I don’t know Gypsee, they always say that the Ascendant is your “mask” and that it is more apparent to others than the sun sign but I am not too sure about that one. People who know astrology (and if my glyph tattoo is covered up) always guess that I am a Libra and I think someone got Leo once. I guess the moon shines through, or it could be the Sun, Mercury, Venus and Jupiter in the 7th house. All I know is, no one has ever guessed Aquarius. Guess I am not “weird” enough (until you get to know me!)…

Yay! Grad school starts in 12 days! I got to print up all of my syllabi online and I get to buy a new binder! Still don’t know what I want to do with the rest of my life! Yay! I wonder when I’ll feel like going on a date again…Maybe after grad school? Maybe after losing those last 10 (15) pounds? But as Jay-Z (oh wise one, ) said “I’ve got 99 problems…”

Saturn in Virgo, in the 8th sucks! right about now let me tell you…

Oh Gypsee, I needed the clothes, hair, makeup thread to cheer me up! Thank you!

I am a Do, definitely…

Maybe not right now (nightgowns at home and yoga pants + band tees for chores) but I am crazy about what I wear. I’m not trendy at all, but I am a classic dresser and that never goes out of style. I hate the summer because I have much more to wear in the fall/winter months. I have many, many dresses – sundresses, sheaths, business-y, dressy, casual. I’m not a label person though at all. If I like something I see in Kmart then I’ll buy it! I really like inexpensive basic pieces by the bulk. Things like tank tops and camisoles (layering pieces) from Old Navy, the Gap, J.Crew, LL Bean, etc. I have about 30-40 in every color, fabric and print. Sweaters, yay, love. Cashmere, that is the splurge. I have a “go-to uniform” that pretty much works for any occasion – button down top (sleeve lengths vary) over tank or cami with skirt, pants or jeans. I just change the fabrics depending on the occasion. Throw on a blazer or cardigan (again, different fabrics) if it is supposed to be dressier. I love the vest trend too, I only have one in gray though…I am there with you Gypsee – I don’t have much black. Everything in my closet is apple green, teal, raspberry, violet, plum, royal blue, sunny yellow, burgundy and pants and skirts in many shades and patterns of gray and brown… I have black pants and a pencil skirt but I hate black tops, even though I get compliments if I wear one.

* Handbags – I have so many that I have to pack them away with the seasons like clothes. Leather, fabrics – I love those LL Bean totes, backpacks, sling backpacks.

* Coats and jackets – aaahhhh…my favorite thing. I have so many too. Jean jackets, lightweight jackets all shades of khaki, pea coats, car coats. My favorite is a wool, light beige coat with a tie waist. All of my scarves look great with it (that is another thing I have to switch in and out with the seasons, I have lots of scarves…). I also love my brown suede jacket. It is chocolate brown with the light brown stitching - gorgeous.

* Jewelry – I have a tackle box full of assorted “costume” pieces, 90% earrings, that go with everything I own (I love any kind and color of pearls). I don’t have many bracelets because of my “big boned” wrist. I do have a couple of silver cuff bracelets though (good for showing off the tats). I have 5 Fossil watches. It used to be that it was the only brand of watch I’d wear but I have others now too.

* Shoes – Zappos.com is my best friend (or it was anyway )! Pumps, flats, wedges, boots, strappy sandals – craziness. I have them all in those clear shoe boxes just piled up in my closet and under my bed. I have a bag full of flip flips in assorted colors and levels of bejewelment and bedazzlement hanging in my closet. What I actually have the most of though is sneakers. I think this is because I have size 11 feet and even on Zappos not every cool pair of shoes comes in that size so I have to make up for it in colorful sneakers! I have many different Converse (the purple hi tops are my personal fave), Adidas (the classic Superstars, or “shell tops” are my favorite) and New Balance (the only “runner” or “athletic” type I can wear comfortably for those purposes). I am afraid to get into Puma suede territory, I’ll have to have every color!!!

* Graphic tee shirts – yes these get their own category! I pick one up wherever I go, even take out places (I have so many “#1 Puerto Rican food in ____”, lol). They are always giving them out too, at charity walks and celebrations. I have lots of band and movie t-shirts too. I think I am making up for what I wanted and didn’t have when I was a child. Sometimes “the uniform” will consist of a ¾ sleeve French blue ruffle collar button down, a Guns N Roses tee shirt, khaki pants and Adidas tan suedes (with the baby blue stripes). The uniform makes it easy to mix and match.

* Make up – I don’t wear foundation but I do have concealer for the occasional red chin pimple. I don’t wear blush because I am flushed a lot anyway and my cheekbones don’t need any more defining. I do wear eye makeup, mostly the 2 shades of brown shadow and brown liner and mascara, if I even remember to wear mascara. Lips, I usually wear gloss. For an ethnic woman, I have “no lips” so gloss is the way to go for me! My favorites are cheap, drugstore brands – Cover Girl Lipslicks in Hipster or Revlon Lipgloss in Gloss Rose. I recently bought a pomegranate lip stain pen. It is pretty good, I put it on lightly over lip balm and then cover it with Hipster. The only things worth paying a pretty penny for would be the eye shadow basics, like the “2 shades of brown” from MAC (Espresso and Omega). because you can tell the difference in pigment, most definitely. I do have quite a few shadow quads by Cover Girl though just for fun days or nights out (when does that happen?). My nails are short and usually painted clear, pale pink or red/burgundy for special occasions. My favorite polish is "Not So Bora-Bora-ing Pink" by OPI. If I could have stock in that color I would, I have gone through so many bottles. But, my daily makeup is very muted and natural, nothing crazy.

*Scent – When I first started wearing scents in high school I wore what my mom wore – Giorgio Beverly Hills and L’air du Temps – then I started wearing “GapScents” (remember those?), Dream was my favorite and Coolwater Woman – I was into the marine/ozone scents. Then I noticed that spicy/oriental scents smelled better on my skin so I went into that deeply by wearing Shalimar and Youth Dew (the heaviest, and ironically, the old woman wearing-est perfume known to man). I then went to vanilla body sprays but now I wear Aquolina Pink Sugar. It is a grown up vanilla and I get so many compliments on it (when I go out). I actually have a “cheap” scent that I wear for doing chores and stuff – Celine Dion Sensational. It is a fruity-floral, wears out almost as soon as I put it on, but I love it. It peps me up and makes me feel cute, whereas the Pink Sugar makes me feel sexy.

I can definitely see the Libra Moon and 7th house stellium at work here. Where is the Aquarius rising? Well, I have those tattoos (inner forearms, back/shoulder). They aren't huge or anything but people are always shocked when they see them because I seem so preppy and conservative…SURPRISE!

ETA * My glasses – I only wear them when I am sitting at the computer for days on end or at work (helps keep the migraines at bay). I have an “insurance covered” pair – they are a brownish-purplish wire frame with rectangle-ish lenses. I paid out of pocket for Lauren Hutton “Africa” glasses (these are the right color too). I rarely wear either, until it is almost too late (why is my head killing me? Oh yeah…).

"I’ve tripped, slid in the mud, slid on ice – these things have all happened many times and mostly in front of people. I have written love notes to a guy that I later found out had a girlfriend (from the girlfriend), I have asked out the same guy twice (in high school) and got rejected both times (take a hint sweetie!), I think I invented the “Do you like me circle ‘Yes’ or ‘No’” notes! I have a very high threshold for embarrassment. "

Hilarious! I can so relate. I have fallen down stairs, tripped, fallen, walked into walls, and other klutz-like behaviors all in front of people (usually large groups). When I was 5 my mother brought me to an optometrist because I always left a store with a bloody-nose from walking into walls and/or poles but there were no problems with my eyes... I was just accident prone and off in my own world.
I can so relate to the 'high treshold for embarrassment' and 'take a hint sweetie'. Eh, I am a pursuer.

Anyway, I read your thread and thought it was hilarious (especially the bit about the boring eater boyfriend-*YAWN*).

Thanks Wheels! Yay!

I credit the attention to detail to years of watching "What Not To Wear" and reading Glamour, Cosmo, Mademoiselle and, my favorite, Allure magazine. I always wanted to be a celeb or a model and have one of those "What Do You Wear, What Do You Use?" articles, I'm living it out on LindaLand ! LOL

Hey, thank you Librarising – they say that Libra adds grace and elegance. My Moon is in Libra and I can pull it off most of the time with ease but that darn Aquarius rising - Uranus and the clumsy accidents!!! Do you have Uranus issues as well? I am pretty sure that Uranus is what does it!

See now in THEORY, your closet sounds like a womans dream come true. Trouble is someone like me would walk in there and never come out. Or come out in tears because I have too many choices and get easily frustrated.
I look like I described in that thread, most days, cause I'm sittin here on the computer watching children. But when I'm working or going out, I look totally different.
People have always complimented me on my ways of 'putting things together' and say that I am always ahead of the times, which sometimes sucks.
I have a collection of converse as well. Band logo tees are my wardrobe of choice with some kind of interesting overshirt or vest. And hanging belts. My current favorite is hearts that dangle across the butt. I like flip flops too, but don't have too many, I am EXTREMELY accident prone, and have cut my foot one too many times while wearing flip flops.
*sighs* My mother says I don't dress appropriate for my age. Most people, until they get close to my face, lol, mistake me for a teenager.
My kids actually like that. They brag about having a "cool" Mom. So I guess thats okay.
Jewelry is my definet down fall, I have two large jewerly boxes, one on legs, and one a chest. They are full, but I make jewelry, so that could be part of the obsession.

As far as the embarressing moments? My Indian name could be : Walks With Toilet Paper Stuck To Shoe.
I have so many embaressing moments, I just live with them now, and laugh at my own stupidity.

Yeah for Grad school, and your new binder, see I thought I was the only person who actually gets excited about school supplies!

I’m with you Gypsee, you just have to laugh!

I hate, hate hate when people say “she doesn’t dress her age”. Grrr. I don’t understand, does one’s taste just fade over the years? Do we have to become completely different people? I mean, I can see growing and becoming more enlightened but about our clothes? I'm not so sure.

School supplies are the best! I could live at Staples or Office Depot! I am super organized (I think it is the Saturn in Virgo thing, or the abundance of fixed signs=organization) so the closets are a whole day event when the seasons change. I can’t wait for the changeover! I think SpaceBags were invented for me, I love them and those Rubbermaid drawers and totes. I am crazy with the clothes though. I am one of those people with things hanging with the tag still on it. Actually last season I took a bunch of stuff that I didn’t wear and gave it to the Salvation Army. I am really trying to purge! I sold my old textbooks and I am going to give the rest of the ones I don’t need to Better World Books. I just need the big push, the get up and go, but I don’t have any energy right now. I see that you are in the purging process as well so it must be the right time! Monday is my day! Yeah, I’m going to write up a schedule! (That is how deep the organization is, I make schedules). Eh, I am just a control freak, plain and simple lol!

Space Bags are excellent. Your stuff stays flat!

...The only thing is they make your clothes or bedding smell like plastic after the season is over. I learned from that and put dryer sheets in with my stuff. I'll see if it works in late Sept/early Oct!

Could be Uranus ... My sun, moon, jupiter, and ascendant aspect my uranus. I always end up with a spill or stain on my clothing. I usually notice when I get home, after a long day of pretending to be professional, that there's a long ketchup spill under my breast or my zipper was down since my morning pee. People close to me make fun of my clumsiness.

HaHa, Librarising; That is me. Everyone knows not to buy Gypsee anything white, bad, bad idea. This summer was the first time I had a white purse, it isn't really white, kinda off white, anyway, only took a week to get a big ink splot on the bottom. Oh well, messy folk need love too!

D2M;
Just a thought, I was thinking about you today, and what you said about going through your things. Have you ever considered donating your clothing to your local battered womens shelter? I take all my stuff there. I got tired of taking it to Goodwill and them putting it in their stores for sometimes more than it was worth!
The women in the shelter would probably love something from someone with your taste, and who knows, might give them a leg up on getting a job? Just a thought....

I hadn't thought of that Gypsee, that is a good idea. Actually what you said reminded me of one of the charities that I like, Dress For Success . They don't take used clothes but I think they are a good organization...

Librarising - I have Sun and Mercury square Uranus and, surprisingly, Saturn sextile Uranus. it has to be the squares! Actually I never thought about the Saturn sextile Uranus aspect. I think I should read up on that. I'll take whatever good I can get from Saturn, generational or not...

On to more shallow stuff:

I saw the commercials for the new season of House...Hugh Laurie is so sexy and I am loving his new hair(plug, toupee)cut..

Season 6 shots:

I Michael Stipe...

Older..

(Much) Younger...

Wow, kind of reminds me of Jonathan Rhys Meyers in Velvet Goldmine...

I think my taste in men is pretty funny. It has changed over the years. When I was younger I used to go for the big, beefy types with dark hair. I think this is because I am tall (5’10” – 1.78 meters for Wheels!) and curvy (size 12-16, depending on my level of depression) and I wanted to feel smaller I guess so my earlier boyfriends were at least 6’1” and ‘roid-y. Guys who were skinnier always hit on me and I did date a couple – one Gemini “short term relationship” (a.k.a. temporary **ck buddies) and one Capricorn that was my longest relationship until The Scorpio. Actually, the relationship with the skinny Cap was the longest that worked! He was tall though (6’4”)…Anyway, now I am really wanting a slender man. Taller, still (at least 6’0) but definitely slender. I kind of like the difference now! My last relationship was “Beauty and the Geek” (according to my family, lol. My mom was the worst, she thought we were like this) I think it would be kind of awesome to be with a guy who is just slightly taller than me and skinner – it’s kind of hot: sexy, voluptuous and glamorous black woman and skinny, artsy white guy – sounds like a movie to me…

ETA: I am "artsy" myself but I am frequently overdressed (I say "glamorous")...

lol - I write this stuff just for you Wheels, I swear!

Gypsee – I don’t know, it looks like House is having an extended stay in the psych ward so, no love for him just yet!

I want to have ice cream for breakfast...

I wrote a whole blog post on ice cream once; it is my favorite food...

That just made me think about the way I say the word "blog". It is very New Yawk-ish, blawg=blog, dawg=dog, awn=on, awf=off...LOL, I do it a lot.

Today is my father's birthday, yay for him...

That last post actually got me thinking about the Cappy ex. He was handsome (he also had that black hair/green eyes combo), tall, slender, nice hands and he was really, really sweet. Back then, I was kind of bitchy sometimes but he dealt with it extremely well. He was awesome at dealing with the Leo attitude. This was years ago, he was in college full time and he worked really long hours and he would call every night if we weren't together. I would talk him to sleep…yeah, he would fall asleep when we were on the phone together. I was offended the first time but then I thought about how hard he worked…<Rrrrppp – SCREECHING HALT> Okay, that first time, I told him off, LOL! (funny how we re-write the past) but he was unfazed (as usual) and said “I have been working all day”, then I realized, he had been working all day. LOL! (I am an ass). He was a waiter and a huge flirt and all of the waitresses and customers appreciated that. One time he told me a story about this waitress that was flirting with him and I was PMS-ing and I yelled “I don’t want to hear about all of your bitches!” and he said, very calmly and seriously, “calm down, you are my only b*tch ” I cracked up of course! He was really funny. Plus he got along very well with my family and friends, which is not an easy feat. When you picture this guy, picture Sacha Baron Cohen as himself. He could be, not his twin, but his cousin at least...He was also very affectionate and very good at “the stuff” (another “Friends” reference)…Capricorns ROCK!

ADD and insomnia today…la, la, la, connect the dots, lala, lala, la

Okay, once I start quoting Pee Wee Herman it is time for bed…

…or not…
I can’t sleep. I never could. I was up at 1 am watching “The Patty Duke Show” on Nick at Nite when I was 10 years old. Sometimes in high school I would be up all night and go to school the next day. I realize that my sleepless nights are the number one migraine trigger but I can’t help it. I think too much. I like nighttime better anyway. Daylight sucks. That is one of my problems with offices too – I am usually working on 2-3 hours of sleep and Earl Grey tea (I don’t like coffee) – that plus the fluorescents equals HATE.

I have to do something. I did the Benadryl thing for years, but now, since I am not working, it does nothing to me. Oh my dog, I just realized that I could become one of those sleeping pill people. Like, one those “ Ambien isn’t working so the next step is intravenous doses of Propofol” people . Yikes. That is how it happens after all…

How does Martha Stewart only sleep 2-4 hours and still function? I only sleep about 2-4 hours but I end up dragging myself around all day, talking nonsense (typing nonsense) and laughing while I do it, LOL…

ETA: Cap was the first guy I ever said "I love you" to...and I was half asleep, lol (delirious). He was wide awake though and he said it back...

He is now married with a child...

hi there Miss Insomnia. I am a fellow non sleeper myself. I added my sleep count and it came up to around 12 hours in the last three days.
Do you know that studies show people that get more sleep have higher intelligence?
I'm totally blaming my typing skills, or lack there of, on that.
I noticed your pics there, do you realize how similiar Hugh Laurie and Michael Stipe look, I mean their faces are strikingly similiar.
I'de say that is your type.
I've been doing some "typing" research myself, since I came to this site and learned about my chart, and that I am supposed to be attracted to Libras. I've spent hours looking at pics on the net and thinking about this subject, cause I have a scientific side (please don't tell anybody, they might think I'm a Serious Sag, and I can't have that) that always wants to know the "whys" of things and can it be proven, and so on.
I don't know any Libra men, only in passing, but I realized after 42 years of being in denial, I DO like girly or pretty men. Never end up with them, but i sure enjoy looking at them!
Anyway, now I'm blabbering, ahh, boredom.
Glad to know there is someone up at night besides me that I can talk to! Yay!!!!

You are right about the resemblance Gypsee. I’ve never had a man who was bald-bald though in real life. A couple of balding men but not plug-needing bald, I’m up for it though. It really depends on the face though, a guy has to have a strong bone structure and a few wrinkles to pull of the bald thing IMO. Hmm…

I just got my 3 ½ hours in today (1-4:30) and I feel okay. I read somewhere that people who get less sleep are more creative though, ah, there is the other side of that coin! I honestly hate sleep though. I wish I could stay up all day and night and not feel groggy. One of my professors said that sleep is like "self-imposed death", I love that, lol.I talked to the ex-Scorpio about that once and he said, “You could do that, if you were on cocaine”, lol. It would have been funnier if he didn’t pull up a website on it...

See, yeah, I understand the blabbering – and please, feel free to blabber on in this thread! I think you should try to date a pretty, Libra man, try online if you have to, just to see how it goes. Will the difference be refreshing or a turn-off? Sounds like a fun experiment!

You picked some good choices in Pire's "3 songs..." thread. You didn't have any Libra indecision! I am thinking of too many, I can't narrow it down!
