GUESS--of these 5 pairs, which TWO fell in love "at first sight" and got married??

I'll post the synastries below--I am using a 4 degree orb for aspects involving planets, Chiron, and Juno, and including conjunctions, oppositions, squares, and trines only. For asteroids, 3 degree orb and conjunctions/oppositions only.

I used the asteroids Eros, Psyche, Lust, Valentine, and Cupido...I know some people find other asteroids more significant...I will post their "marriage" asteroids later too.

Of these five pairs, can you guess:
1) Which TWO of the couples married and had children together? (Note: the other three never-married couples did not have children)

2) BONUS: Four of these five pairs--all heterosexual male/female--have been lovers at some point. Can you pick out the one pair who were NEVER lovers?

Curious...

Ooooh, this looks like fun. Can you post the pictures of the charts as well? I find visuals easier to interpret than lists.

I guess #3 as one of the married couples. I have to look at the list some more, though.

Edit: and #2 I'm thinking were never lovers.

origami, sorry not to be able to post the charts!

I'd love to hear WHY you think PAIR 3 is one of the marrieds and why PAIR 2 are the never-lovers...I am trying to improve my readings of aspects!

Sure thing, I'll give my reasoning once I have all my guesses made.

After studying #1: relationship, but they didn't marry.

Lucia,

that is an interesting idea.

Unfortunately I am not confident enough to answer that. I also fear we cannot see that just in the synastry aspects alone. Maybe we can`t see that at all.
But having pondered a long time about this, I start realizing HOW much I really rely on the house ruler aspects.

Also, one of the difficulties with astrological aspects is, that there are different levels of expression for each symbol; there is a symbol chain.

So, Venus relates to relationships, sure, and it will usually be there in love relationshps; but Venus also relates to art. So instead of a relationship there could be also a common interest in art, fashion and so on.

That`s what makes it nearly impossible to tell for certain if a couple will marry or not.
What you can see is how they are affected and get along.

I was going to finish in the morning, but it seems I have insomnia, so:

PAIR #1: in a relationship, not married.
Why: there are some compelling aspects, like Pluto conjunct sun and sun conjunct Venus, as well as an alignment of angles (AC/DC and MC/IC), which point to a strong attraction and affinity. However, most marriages I've seen have some conjunctions between nodes and planets or nodes and angles -- I don't see that here. Most of the planetary aspects seem between personal and outer planets, too, and I usually like to see more action between just personal planets. And even though they do have that angle alignment, it seems to be more powerful when some planets are also aligned with the angles -- again, I don't see that here. At least not in 3 degree or less orbs.

PAIR #2: not in a relationship, not married.
Why: trine trine trine trine trine. Relationships need some friction for both people to feel the spark -- I've seen brilliant synastry full of trines and sextiles where the people were just apathetic towards each other. There's a considerable lack of hard aspects between planets (Jupiter squares barely count ) and in particular, no significant conjunctions between planets... there is not enough to hold this one together or to make both people serious about giving a relationship a shot. In fact, the main theme of the relationship may be that one tight square between his Pluto and her Venus... whatever their relationship is, it's probably characterized by power struggles, mind games, manipulation, etc. with him having the upper hand and her getting hurt or obsessed. The reversal of the nodes can act as an attractor here, but it's not always an easy placement because both people are busy teaching each other lessons about something or other. And if they have this placement, they're either 9 years or 27 years apart in age (or 36 or... etc.). It's hard to say how this pans out because I don't know the ages involved, but if one person is still relatively young, they might be especially hesitant to be in a relationship with a nodal reversal -- they still want to have fun, nothing too heavy, and the nodal reversal is downright karmic in feel. Ditto for Pluto on one person's MC and Saturn on the other's. MC action -- maybe they are business partners? I just don't see a healthy romance here.

PAIR #3: in a relationship, married.
Why: Sun/south node conjunction is extremely strong and magnetic; so are the oppositions between his moon and her sun, Venus, and Jupiter. And the Saturn/North Node conjunction is like glue -- definitely there are lessons about responsibility and duty in this relationship, and how better for that to manifest than through marriage? There's a nice mix of harmonious aspects and challenging ones; the alignment of the AC/DC axis suggests they see each other as ideal partners, and they each have each other's Chiron conjunct an angle. It just looks like a good balance of everything, with a lot of double whammies.

Okay, getting sleepy... I'll explain #4 and #5 tomorrow, but right now I'm leaning towards #5 as being married and #4 as just being in a relationship.

Also, I agree with DD that house ruler aspects reveal quite a lot, and without knowing houses, this becomes a little trickier. Since many people (unfortunately) don't marry for love, I don't think there's anything in synastry that really points to marriage itself. Love and attraction are easier to see, but marriage is done for different reasons by different people, making it hard to pinpoint between two charts. It helps that you mentioned the two married couples had love at first sight -- that's mostly what I was looking for in the lists -- since marriage itself has too many different possibilities.

Thanks for posting this -- I'm really curious to see the answers!

Wow, Denise, that was just AWESOME.
What a brilliant analysis.

BTW I visited your website and it looks great, and I`M already eagerly waiting for your articles on synastry, soulmates and Draco`s. I have the feeling I will find a LOT to learn in them.

EDIT:

There are some things I vehemently agree with in your above post.

"as well as an alignment of angles (AC/DC and MC/IC), which point to a strong attraction and affinity.

However, most marriages I've seen have some conjunctions between nodes and planets or nodes and angles

and I usually like to see more action between just personal planets.

Why: trine trine trine trine trine. Relationships need some friction for both people to feel the spark
That is one of the things that cannot be emphasised enough.
Trines won`t make some people fall in love. They may add compatibility, harmony, but not that attraction and spark, needed for starting a relationship (leaving your usual life and starting something new, like a relationship, which always is a big step, you need to apply ENERGY, and trines donīt give energy).

so are the oppositions between his moon and her sun, Venus, and Jupiter. And the Saturn/North Node conjunction is like glue
My parents have Sun-Moon-opposition and SAturn-SN-conjunction, too, and have been married for 35 years.

Since many people (unfortunately) don't marry for love, I don't think there's anything in synastry that really points to marriage itself. Love and attraction are easier to see, but marriage is done for different reasons by different people, making it hard to pinpoint between two charts.

For relationship / marriage synastry there seem to exist some "hints", as Denise wrote:

- conjunctions to Nodes
- conjunctions to angles or angles to each other
- ruler of ASC or DSC conjunct ASC / DSC or respective rulers

in addition personal planets aspecting each other, and also some squares and opposition with a good amount of trines (for necessary harmony)

Thanks so much! I'm REALLY looking forward to reading your take/guesses on #4 and #5.

Also, in generally, what do you guys think of using such a narrow orb? I usually use a wider one (I kept this narrow so the lists wouldn't be 8 feet long)--but sometimes I think a narrow orb is more revealing about the most prominent aspects of the relationship.

There are some aspects at a wider orb that I think might be significant in these synastries, though:

PAIR 1
His SUN square her MOON (6)
His MOON square her MARS (6)
His SATURN square her MARS and JUPITER (9.4)
His CHIRON square her MOON (4)
His AC conjunct her URANUS (8)
Her AC square his MARS and CHIRON (8,9)
Her AC conjunct his JUPITER (5)

PAIR 2
His SUN square her SUN (8)
SUN/MOON DW [her Sun trine his Moon (2), his Sun square her Moon (9)]
SUN/MERC DW (each Merc squared the other's Sun at 4 and 5 degrees, plus Sun/Sun and Merc/Merc squares, fun)
His MOON conjunct her NEPTUNE (5)
JUPITER/NN DW [His Jupiter conjunct her NN (3), her Jupiter square his NN (0)]
His SATURN square her VENUS (8)
VENUS/PLUTO DW [His Pluto square her Venus (0), her Pluto conjunct his Venus (8)]
His NEPTUNE conjunct her AC (9)

PAIR 3
MOON/SUN DW [her Moon trine his Sun(7), his Moon opp her Sun (1)]...these broader-orbed moon contacts seem very significant as DWs to me, knowing the relationship
MOON/MOON trine (6)
PLUTO/VENUS DW [His Venus square her Pluto(5), her Pluto sextile his Venus(3)]
His NN conjunct her NN (8)
His NN conjunct her LUST (6)
His DC conjunct her URANUS (7)

I'll wait till you've guessed on #4 and #5, just so it's even...but, in general, how much weight should I give these wider-orbed aspects?

In Pair #3, I was surprised that their tight aspects revealed so much accurately, because knowing them, I think their Moon DWs, at a wider orb, tell a huge part of the story and vibe of their relationship.

WOW Denise, i second DD's praise of your analysis!!!

hmm... interesting.

So you think the SN conjunct is more potent than a NN conjunct?

Lets say you had with one guy
your SN conjunct his IC
his SN conjunct your Jupiter

and then with another guy
your NN conjunct his sun/venus/mars/psyche

would the NN/sun conjunct be more of a bond?

DD, I know I'm giving too much away here if other people want to guess, but I am very happy to read this and see that Pair #3's aspects might bring longevity as well as mutual love.

Sorry, Meta-4! Want to try anyway?

I'm not posting the charts because a) I'm technologically inept and b) I don't think anyone can recognize who these people are from these aspects, but the charts would give each one's full birth info/full natal chart, which might be recognizable, and I want to keep them anonymous and c) I rely 100% on house overlays in synastry, so I'm using LindaLand to teach myself to read aspects better...so far I've learned A LOT...it's amazing how accurate some astrologers are with just aspect lists. And with full charts, it's harder for me to see EXACTLY how they are doing this and then copy them!

You can't crop the birth chart part out of the chart, though...and people's natal charts are recognizable to those interested in astrology, whereas a Sun Sign plus "His Venus trine her Mercury" really doesn't make the people identifyable. (But also, reasons a and c!)

Want to try anyway, Lara? Or I would love to read your insights on how certain aspects play out even if you don't want to make overall guesses.

Isn't it amazing how much info some people can glean from just aspects though? I want to learn to do that!

Which are you guessing for the never-lovers?

Alrighty, here's the last two... after looking at them again, it's kind of a toss up as to which looks more like marriage. Both have a lot of strong aspects, including some intense squares. I ended up sticking with #5, mostly because of the nodal aspects, but honestly I can see #4 having so much chemistry that it would lead the two people to compulsively stay together. In fact, given the high tolerance for drama between a Leo and Scorpio, they might handle their squares better than the more peaceable Cancer/Libra combo... hard to tell without seeing the natals as well!

If you said three of these pairs were married, I would choose both 4 and 5 as married ones (along with 3).

PAIR #4: in a relationship, not married.
Why: they have plenty of activity between personal planets -- both easy aspects and challenging ones. The very nature of a Leo/Scorpio interaction tends to be passionate, and this strikes me as a relationship where emotions and chemistry run high... just look at the sun/Mars conjunction, conjunctions and squares to both people's Mercury (a lot of lively conversation, mixed in with heated arguments), Venus/Mars square, Saturn/moon square. A lot of pleasure, a lot of pain. These people evoke a strong response in each other. However, what makes me say "no" to marriage is the lack of nodal conjunctions and no alignment of the axis. I don't see any at all. If they did marry, it may have been from a combination of initial passion and Neptune on the DSC (which does a fine job of hiding problems... at first). But since I have to chose between this and #5 for a marriage, I'll say this one isn't it -- probably a significant relationship none the less.

PAIR #5: in a relationship, married.
Why: the mutual moon/north node conjunction won me over. That has to feel enormously significant to both people, and with the moon pulling up karmic situations related to the home and family life, it seems natural that this pair would gravitate towards marriage and raising children. They each have some planetary conjunctions the other's MC, including a Jupiter/MC double whammy (which by default also affects the IC -- again home, family, domesticity), making me think they have a very positive influence over each other's public ambitions, career, and life goals. On top of that, moon/ASC conjunctions are absolutely powerful. There really is a lot of lunar activity. Even though there's no alignment of the axis, I think the planet-to-angle conjunctions and nodal conjunctions could be enough to create a similar effect.
