From Glamgem [ QUOTE Ami- it's funny that you mention venus in cancer as homey and set up house type of aspect because I've always read that venus in cancer love to cook for their loved ones and be at home, ect. I hate to cook...I'm not really that into kids (meaning I don't plan on having a litter)..LOL..sorry...and I don't like to be at home too much!! I would not put me on the top of the list of domesticated women! ]

Dear Glamgem,
I didn't mean the ACTUAL activities -necessarily--but that you would see beauty in a Cancer kind of way.IOW, you would love homey things whether that was making fresh baked cookies in your home or making it look pretty with little things like potpourri.
I see Venus in cancer as valuing warm, homey activities like drinking tea with a close friend or watching a Disney movie.
I would see it as you choosing a man who had Cancer qualities---sweet,loyal, warm, loving, trustworthy:someone you could have a child with cuz you could trust him to be part of your nest.
Does this sound right ? Ami

My mom has a strong Cancer chart
Jupiter conjunct Ascendant in Cancer
Mercury-Venus-Uranus conjunction in Cancer
South Lunar Node in Cancer.

She loves to cook, and is a great cook. She is into the home. She was a cleaning fanatic. I told people in the navy that if my mother did inspections, nobody would pass! hahahahaha

yeah..she was a bit of a smothering mother. She has Moon in Scorpio too.
but I also think having a special needs tends to make parents overprotective, smothering, worrying over his/her child's well-being. She was very controlling too.

also her Pluto parallels all those Cancer placements, and so adds intensity and more sensitivity to those Cancer placements.

Pluto's sensitivity tends to be overlooked imho even though it's a transneptunian.

my maternal grandfather had Sun and Pluto in Cancer (not conjunct), and he was a great cook. I thought he was the best cook in the family with my mom a close second.

shrugs

I don't think zodiac sign placements alone really mean much. I think that aspects tell more of the story. Also Sidereal Zodiac Astrologers will argue that it's actually placed in another sign. Their argument doesn't work well with my Sun. I have a tropical Scorpio Sun, but my Sun is in constellation of Virgo even though it's in Libra in Sidereal zodiac.

Venus in Cancer might just indicate an emotional,feeling-oriented way of relating, loving that includes the possibility of tenacity, nurturing with the tendency to possibly take things personally when hurt.

That's how it works for my mother. She has Moon trine Venus too. She can also show a great intensity with Venus parallel Pluto and detachment with Venus conjunct/parallel Uranus.

Raymond]

Dear Raymond
This might sound like a strange question and it is,I guess. Did you have a good relationship with your mother?
If so, how did that effect your self esteem, sense of personal value in life?
You don't have to answer,of course, if it is too personal. Ami

lol Glaucus, i don't do arguing.. never have. I discuss. If you see my blunt, direct discussing as arguing then i'm sorry - that's Aries for ya!

I always feel my way through everything, including debating/discussing. The mind is but a stupid tool. The intuition, a true barometer.]

Dear Lara,
Did you say you had Mercury in Aries. Would that be a fast thinking, fast acting and direct way of thinking?
I would think so.
Where would the intuition come in?Do you have strong water planets, too, like Scorpio or Cancer? Ami

Dear Alia,
That sounds just what a Mercury in Pisces would be like. What is your occupation, hobbies etc? I bet you are very good in certain areas. Ami

Hey Glaucus when I was 13 - 14 I was diagnosed with ADD and put on medication for being hyperactive and having a short attention span and rebelling against my parents. It was ridiculous and I took the medication for about 10 months as conditions of me attending high school. Now I've grown up I'm not as bad as what I used to be. I still suffer from boredom and sometimes I can get hypo and even when i type I cant be bothered with grammer and i love to rebel but astrology made me realise i was very normal and its all just my great moon in gemini thats restless. I also have uranus in 3rd so i love to shock when i speak and speak at the most innapropriate times and even talk about things that have nothing to do with the topic but thats because my minds ahead of some (so i think)and I dont like to get too much in detail about a topic or subject and I dislike people who drag on conversations.

My teachers thought that I had problems paying attention but when i was in year 3 and 4 i skipped my year because apparently i was more intelligent than the rest of my class and then came high school and i was heavily medicated for being bored and not paying attention. Sometimes i think people are misdiagnosed and i strongly believe i was. They dont want to pay attention to whats going on in a childs life these days and its so easy to just prescribe pills and make kids take them

I'm kinda serious... Aries AC still isn't quite right. It gives me a capricorn MC which is not me at all!!!! lol
I can't stand libran men and my 7th ruler is libra! It puts everything in my 12th house and i am far from hidden from myself.

If i had to chose a house, i'd put everything in my first because i think i come across as a 1st house person. I have an unusually small head - it's child sized. 90% of my bookshelf is on spiritual lifestyle or alternative health. Coffee always thought i was Pisces... maybe i'm not but since we decided on Aries i have been playing with my chart, looking at SA's to dates and Aries just doesn't add up!

Anyway, i'm derailing this thread.

Dear Belgz
I think a Gemini moon would be very hard.I could see how it would be restless.Your emotions would have the Gemini need for new vistas. The emotions would be happier in a more settled place like Cancer, Pisces or Taurus. Right?
I have Gemini Mercury, Sun and Venus . I am not restless for physical change--but intellectual change.

Dear Lara
When I got my new Ascendent, everything fit. The more I learn about Astrology the MORE it fits.
When I found it--I came together.
I had my chart done on Astrodient--Liz Green-- and I started crying cuz from relief.
Now, I can take my good and bad traits and go somewhere with change.
In my last chart , I was supposed to be a girl who was light , airy and together.
Now, I am the intense , heavy person I always knew I was LOL.
Finding my new Ascendent has changed my life.
Ami

PS In my little time spent here, you don't seem like you would have a great 12th house influence. You seem very open and direct.

I agree Ami, and i don't feel like a 12th person either!
I feel like a 1st or 5th house person... and i'm very expressive and my energy is very sexual (to others) which is a very piscean trait. There are lots of reasons why it works better than Aries

Thank you. I'm SO happy that you felt such a vibe with your new birth time. I don't feel like that with mine now so i know it's still wrong. urgh! xx

..I have Mercury in Leo Rx in the 8th house..

I would have that wierd mutual reception thing going on (Sun in Virgo Mercury in Leo)..if my Mercury was not retrograde..oh well..

-Conjucts Venus and Jupiter
-Probably squares Pluto

Um, I think in big arse ideas but I am mainly hush hush about them all. Even though my Mercury is RX, I am articulate and have always done exceptionally well in English but I still believe I am as dumb as a bag of rocks.X_X

Since it's in the 8th house, I love to read occult, mysteries, transformational, dark romance, horror stories. I am also quite nosey but never get caught. I also like to study and research quietly by myself which goes against my Karma grain Saturn in Aquarius because I suck at group work.

Oh and I've been told I should write and illustrate childrens' books and I kinda always wanted to..(there we go again with the big ideas)..

Edit: Mercury is in it fall with Pisces or Leo again?X_X

12th house placements would give you psychic abilities or strong intuition.

7th house is also the house of open enemies

If you can't stand Libra men, I don't think you are an Aries Ascendent lol.
So, if you were a Pisces Ascendent you would like Virgo men--right --or Virgo qualities.
Scorpio is my Ascendent and I used to like the actual sign Taurus for men but now I like the quality of earth bound energy rather than the exact sign.
My guy has to have some sense of being grounded not the planets or signs, per se, but some sense that I can lean on him.
That is what I mean by Virgo energy and not necessarily the actual sign of Virgo.

Raymond.... "It also means that your Mercury conjuncts Zuben Elschamali,opposes/conjuncts Heliocentric Mercury Nodes and Heliocentric Mars Nodes just like mine does. It probably sextiles the Geocentric South Pluto Node like mine too."

That's fascinating... I will look this stuff up!
The difference in how we communicate then would probably be house rulers as well... As Mercury rules my 12th house, it gives me a further Piscean influence...my chart ruler Venus is square Neptune also....

It explains why I am often vague in conversations.... and choosing counselling for a career. My Moon is the Mc ruler, in Aquarius, and Uranus is conjunct Mercury... Very much air and water communicator...

What house does your Mercury rule?

Not just the house rulers, but also other aspects to Mercury which I listed in the thread. I listed a lot of stuff, but at the end, I arranged them into themes. I had included Ecliptic longitude, declination,Right Ascension. I posted about my Mercury involved in 11th harmonic aspect patterns with Mars,Saturn,Uranus,Sedna, and Ascendant with corresponding midpoint pictures.

There are lot of things that make our Mercuries different in how we communicate and process information.

My Mercury rules both 1st and 10th houses.
I have Ascendant in Virgo and Midheaven in Gemini. My Mercury is in 3rd house.
