Amowls,

"My 1h/4h ruler trine his 7h/11h ruler (0)"
That is a nice one. A harmonious interaction (trine). You (1st ruler) probably trigger his relationship needs (7th house) ruler in harmonious ways (trine). And there comes also friendship with it (11th house ruler) and for you it is maybe also important to have a common ground, a home (4th house) or you are emotionally engaged.
But since this is a trine, it looks pretty calm and stable to me. (just judging fromt his aspect alone of course).

"My 7h/10h ruler sextile his 7h/11h ruler (0)"
Supportive friendship potential.

Hey DD,
I posted the aspects between rulers for me and my guy. He has sun(4th ruler), merc(1st, 5th), uranus, jupiter(7th ruler) in libra and venus(5th), pluto in virgo, both of which are his 5th house. He is heavily a libra, both by his chart and his nature. I have sun at 29 degree Scorpio, but have neptune(1st ruler), venus( 7th ruler), merc( 7th ruler) and jupiter(1st, 9th ruler) in sag. so I guess am a Sag by my chart.

If I take just planets in houses overlays, his 1st, 4th, 5th, 7th fall in my 7th house. My 8th ruler pluto is conj his 1st,5th house ruler in his 5th house.
My 1st,2nd, 7th 9th house rulers fall in his 7th house.
So looking at this would it not be ok to say that we probaly think of the other as " ideal partners"?
With so many of his planets on my 7th he influences me more than I do him. Is that why he is able to walk away so easily from the relationship while I am still hopelessly in love with him?

Alia,

I usually do not look that much at sextile or quinkunx, because stronger aspects will "dominate" them easily. Of course the sextile will still be there as a potential influence in the background, a mellow melody of friendship. But the question is can you even connect to it, while your squares and oppositions are trumpeting into your ears?

The quinkunx is a difficult aspect imo. It connects energies that are completely different (different modes, different incompatible elements), and it makes it probably hard to see eye to eye and gain some understanding. You have to work for it and make compromises.
It`s like this quiet nagging voice in the back of your mind; it is not loud, but it is always there, unnerving.

I think with the 7th ruler in quinkunx you have to actively try to get to some form of understanding and acceptance for each other`s different relationship-styles and needs. But maybe you want something different, but are exactly what the other person wants?

Example:
A`s DESC ruler is in 3rd house
B`S DESC is in 8th house

A and B want a different "type" of and for relationship. A needs a "communication-athlet", B needs utmost intensity.
So different needs.

BUT B could have a Gemini ASC or ruler of 1st house in 3rd house - so even if B wants intensity in their partner, they themselves are actually the communicative partner that A wants!
And A could have a Scorpio ASC or ruler of 1st house conjunct Pluto - so A would fit B`s "type", too, despite their different views on relationship.

At the same time it could be that two 7th house rulers are conjunct; but the 7th house needs by both people are not fulfilled by each other.
So that could mean that they want the same in a relationship (7th house rulers conjunct), but not each other (no relation of 7th house ruler to 1st house for example).

Rajin,

to have an easy approach, you could do it like this:

Take two piece of paper (if you want to do it manually): one paper is for you, the other for your beau.

Follow these steps for both of you:

NATAL:

1ST STEP:
-----------
-----------

5th house: "spark of love"
°Ruler in Sign and house
°conjunction and square to the ruler (these will be most prominent and demand most attention; opposition belongs here, too, but sometimes oppositions are projected onto other people, so you may not relate to them as easily)
° planets in 5th house

Make some short notes about the interpretation.

7th house: "relationship needs"
° ruler in sign and house
° conjunction and squares to ruler (5 degree orb)
° planets in 7th house
° planets conjunct DESC

8th house: "soulbonds"
° ruler in sign and house
° conjunction and squares to ruler
° planets in 8th house

These do not only signify your needs regarding relationship matters, but also give some hints towards the type of guy you could feel attracted to, if it comes to romance (5th house), relationship (7th house) and deep passion (8th house).

2ND STEP:
--------------
--------------

Do I fit into his "partner-pattern"? Does he fit into mine?

Compare your relationship-constellations (from step one) with his IDENTITY-objects.
These are:

°Sun in sign and house/ conj (poss. square) to Sun

° ASC in sign and house / conj., square to ASC

° ruler of 1 in sign and house / conj. square to ruler of 1 PLUS planets in 1st house!

°Mars in sign and house / conj / square to Mars (for a woman you look towards Venus

--------------------------------

° Moon in sign and house / conj and square to Moon

° ruler of 4th house in sign and house
° conj and square to ruler of 4th house
° conj and square to IC
° planets in 4th house

- those, too, are very much a part of everyone`s identity, but the 4th house is a hidden one and Moon is very sensitive, so sometimes these may not be as obvious (usually women tend to express their Moon quite clearly, and all people with Moon in 1st house or conjunct Sun probably, too).

° ruler of 2nd house in sign and house
° conj and square to 2nd house ruler
° planets in 2nd house

- these are also part of the physical identity, but maybe the 1st house is more obvious and apparent, while the 2nd house constellations need some time to come to the surface; but once established they may be permanent and nearly unchangeable.

If you have done that, you could just "count the hits".
It is maybe a simplification, but it will give a good start.
Oh btw if Neptune appears in his partner-pattern 5 times and you have maybe only 1 time Neptune in your identity pattern, it might not be enough.

But of course to do that in a structured manner we would have to give different values / weight to the combinations.
Like a planet conjunct ASC will have much more weight than a planet sextile Venus (this is why I left out the soft aspects; they are of course existent, but not so apparent).

If you have done that NATAL COMPARISION, you have a good idea if you could be basically compatible.

NOW for the SYNASTRY.

You again list all the aspects of:

YOUR relationship rulers (ruler of 5th, 7th and 8th house) to his planets.

To have a nice structure you could put up categories like:

(1) your relationship rulers aspecting his identity objects -
this would tell you how much you could fall for him as a person, how much he could be your type

(2) your relationship rulers aspecting his relationship rulers -
this would tell you how you could get along in a relationship

(3) your relationship rulers aspecting his:
Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, NEptune, Pluto, NN-
I think these could be important, too, as the transpersonal planets especially hold strong energies.
Pluto conjunct ruler of 5th, 7th or 8th house woulud have an intense influence in any way!

Personally I have found that the relationship rulers usually aspect the nodal axis one way or another (conjunction and square); it gives a sense of purpose, "fate", and can be extremely binding (at least until you learned the lesson).

------------------------------------------

After this you could of course check the "identity-objects" to each other:

So:
Sun, Moon, Venus, Mars, ASC, IC, ruler of 1st, 2nd and 4th house

Are you similiar? What types ARE you personally? Would you get along, just judging from your personality?

It is one thing to have great attraction to each other (relationship houses to identity houses and placements usually show that attraction), but are you really compatible in terms of your character / personality (identity hosues to each other)?
1st house ruler conjunct Sun or ASC or even Moon could be wonderful for true personal compatibility.
If there are no attraction aspects though you may end up as brother and sister.

And the relationship houses to each other would show, if your views on relationship are in harmony.
It could lead to some BIG problems if your guy had Uranus in 8th house and you had Saturn in 8th house - very different views on how a relationship should be and how serious it should get.
If you have at the same time strong attraction aspects, it might even lead to an on-and-off-thing, which Uranus would probably love; but one that could be very lasting, because the attraction would pull you back together again and again.
In these cases it woould be good, if the Uranus - in - 8 person also had some balancing Saturn in his chart and the Saturn-in-8 person would have some Uranian aspects / placements in her chart like Uranus on ASC or Moon in Aquarius for example.

If one person is strictly Saturn, and the other is strictly Uranus, it might be impossible to come to a satisfying agreement.

----------------------------

Edit:
PHEW; I am tired now.

I really would focus on the relationship and identity houses first. Otherwise you will DROWN in information and will not be able to see the forest through the trees.

DD, are you using old rulerships?

example:
(johnny and ME)

my mars ruler of my fifth (Leo) also 7th (scorpio if old rulers apply) conjunct his Desc and saturn (ruler if apply) in Aquarius.

so, ruler of my seventh conjunct ruler of his seventh?
am I doing that right or just confused?

Then his venus ruler of his tenth trine my moon ruler of my 4th. and mercury ruler of his 11th trine ruler of my 4th.

ruler of his first square ruler of my 4th.

my venus ruler of my 1st trine his pluto ruler of his 4th.

ruler of my 7th trine ruler of his 1st.

Your fifth is in Leo? Then ruler is Sun, not Mars.

I am using new and traditional rulers, so for SCorpio Mars and Pluto, for Aquarius Saturn and Uranus and for Pisces Jupiter and Neptune.

My Chart:

Ruler of 1st/2nd/10th:
- Mercury - 8th house/Aries;
- conjunct Venus (3rd ruler/9th intercepted sign's ruler)/Moon (11th ruler)/BML, trine Saggitarius Uranus in the 4th house (6th ruler);
- no planets in the 1st/2nd houses.

These elements are indeed where I feel the essence of my self is.

Ruler of 4th:
- Jupiter - 6th house/Aquarius;
- square Taurus Mars in the 9th house (9th ruler/3rd intercepted sign's ruler);
- Sagittarius Uranus (6th ruler) here.

Hmm what is my 4th ruler doing in the 6th house lol and then 6th ruler is in the 4th.. Does it mean that my work is very tied to home (being a housewife is my last wish nooo)?? Or maybe that I need my work place to feel like home, or that my home to have order and routine? Although I feel like home with general philosophical stuffs thought (talking about beliefs and ideas, and learning about life makes m feel like home, and my home itself often has those components - and I'm also from a multiracial family, and we moved away from our birth place).

Ruler of 5th:
- Saturn - 3rd house/Scorpio;
- Saturn conjunct IC, square AC in Virgo;
- Capricorn Neptune (7th ruler) here.

I would say that I'm much more attracted to Scorpio than to Capricorn, even thought my 5th house is mostly Capricorn. Maybe my packed 8th house plus packed Aries influences this, that anything in my 5th house in a synastry might not exactly drive to attraction. But yeah, the position of the 5th ruler might seem right - I need good communication and feeling like home to feel attraction. But well, I've found that in my few attractions in life, I do have my Neptune square the other's Venus or Mars in Libra thought (but then my Juno/Angel/Osiris are there).

Ruler of 7th/8th:
- Neptune - 5th house/Capricorn;
- Jupiter - 6th house/Aquarius;
- Neptune squares Aries Sun in the 8th (12th ruler), sextiles Pisces DC, sextiles Scorpio Pluto in the 3rd (3rd intercepted sign's ruler), trines AC and Taurus Mars in the 9th (9th ruler/3rd intercepted sign's ruler);
- square Taurus Mars in the 9th house (9th ruler/3rd intercepted sign's ruler).
- no planets in the 7th house.

Again, no particular attraction to Capricorns, although it does need to have a bit of romance in a relationship. And ah! The traditional ruler there actually explained my like for Aquas lol~ Hmm in the 6th house, feels a bit Virgo-like for me (routine, stability, hard worker, etc.).
Relating to the 8th/12th house, it could be true, as a relationship does affect my 8th/12th issues. And both traditional and modern rulers aspecting the 9th ruler, my bf isn't from my birth place, and is very Sagittarian in some way (has 4 Sag planets).

------------------------------------------

Bf's Natal Chart:

Ruler of 1st:
- Neptune - 10th house/Sagittarius;
- Jupiter - 10th house/Sagittarius;
- Neptune square Virgo Mars in 7th (2nd/9th ruler), sextile Scorpio Pluto in the 8th (9th ruler);
- Jupiter square Pisces Moon at 1st (5th ruler) and conjunct MC;
- Moon in the 1st.

Ruler of 2nd:
- Mars - 7th house/Virgo;
- Mars square Sagittarius Neptune in 10th (1st ruler), sextile Sagittarius Mercury (4th/7th ruler);
- no planets in the 2nd house.

Ruler of 4th/7th:
- Mercury - 9th/Sagittarius;
- Mercury sextile Virgo Mars (2nd/9th ruler);
- Gemini NN conjunct IC in the 4th house.

Ruler of 5th:
- Moon - 1st/Pisces;
- Moon trine Scorpio Saturn in the 8th (11th/12th intercepted sign's ruler), square Sagittarius Uranus in the 9th (12th intercepted sign's ruler), Sagittarius Jupiter at 10th (1st/10th ruler) and Sagittarius MC;
- no planets in the 5th house.

Ruler of 8th:
- Venus - 7th house/Libra;
- Venus sextile Sagittarius Uranus in the 9th (12th intercepted sign's ruler);
- Scorpio Saturn (11th/12th intercepted sign's ruler) and Scorpio Pluto (9th ruler) in the 8th house.

------------------------------------------

His 5th ruler to my objects:
- isn't aspected by my stuffs;
- falls in my 7th.

His 7th ruler to my objects:
- trines my Sun (12th intercepted sign's ruler);
- conjunct my 5th ruler;
- conjunct my IC;
- squares my AC.

His 8th ruler to my objects:
- opposes my Sun (12th intercepted sign's ruler);
- squares my 7th ruler.

My 5th ruler to his objects:
- conjunct his 4th/7th house ruler;
- sextile his 2nd/9th ruler;
- square his AC;

My 7th/8th rulers to his objects:
- (Jupiter) trine his 8th ruler;
- (Jupiter) square his 11th ruler;
- (Jupiter) sextile his 12th intercepted sign's ruler;
- (Neptune) square his 8th ruler;
- (Neptune) sextile his 9th ruler.

Comica,

there is a school in Germany that works almost exclusively with houserulers, and they say that the ruler of one house in another house is far more important than the signplacement.
Well, I am not sure about that, but who knows?

Also, 6th house is about work and service righ,

buuuuuut

why?

I think it is important that is is placed in the emotional quadrant. 4th and 5th house are clearly emotionally related, but how does 6th house?
I think it is the house that shows how you adapt yourself / your feelings to your environment. Finding a balance between your own feeling and the demands of the environment, and that is something that happens a lot at work I guess.

Anyway, I read that ruler of 4th in 6th house is actually good for actors, as it signifies that you can show (6th house) your feelings (4th) in a way that is somehow acceptable (if the 6th house is not somehow "tainted").
And it shows a certain flexibility in showing one`s expressions, meaning you can analyse them and show them or keep them in or show them in a refined way.

Comica,

I think the most significant aspects are:

His 7th ruler to my objects:
- conjunct my 5th ruler;
- conjunct my IC;
- squares my AC.

His 8th ruler to my objects:
- opposes my Sun (12th intercepted sign's ruler);
- squares my 7th ruler.

My 5th ruler to his objects:
- conjunct his 4th/7th house ruler;
- square his AC;

My 7th/8th rulers to his objects:
- (Jupiter) trine his 8th ruler;
- (Neptune) square his 8th ruler;

Actually I don`t think that squares are that bad; you just have to "balance them out" a little bit. But they really get your attention I guess.
His 7th house ruler has strong connections to your chart, so I think he might see true "relationship-material" in you.
7th ruler conjunct 5th ruler is really nice; a little bit like having Venus conjunct Sun. Both are houses having to do with romance; also the 5th is about your emotional selfexpression, and it seems that he is very much attracted to that.
conjunction to your 4th house could imply that you can build a home together or at least you feel at home with him, like you belong together, almost like family (maybe soul-4th house, mates-7th house?)
Actually I once did a research on some longer standing relationships, and the connection from DESC/7th house ruler to IC/4th house ruler was the one that stood out the most!
7th house ruler squaring your ASC. I am still unsure about how to really interprete the square, but I guess you got his attention, and had a strong impression on him.
8th house ruler squaring 7th house ruler is a bit like having Pluto square Venus. Maybe your views on relationships are not always on the same plate, BUT it is an intense connection, plus the 8th house keeps holding on; letting go of you will not be easy for him.
With your Sun opposing his 8th house ruler, your Self / your general expression of yourself could trigger some really intense feeling inside him, but it may not be very smooth.
5th house ruler conjunct 4th house ruler is a bit like Sun-Moon-conjunction. Your Selfexpression and his homelife/ soul are in harmony. You may really like his soul, who he is deep at heart.
Strong 8th house aspects - so this would be pretty lasting I guess, and reaching deep into both your psyche`s, a transformative relationship (of course we always transform a little bit in every relationship).

From a quick glance you seem to fit each other`s type well:
your ruler of 7th house is in 6th house - he has Virgo-Mars.
He has Virgo-DESC, you have Virgo ASC.
A little bit MErcury in there, no?
But I guess it is pretty good in analysing and come to reasonable solutions, shall problems arise.

Let me look at a natal comparison for myself:

MY pattern:

7th house:

DESC in Gemini:
his Mars squares Mercury
his 1st house ruler squaring Mercury

Ruler of 7 in Sagittarius in 1:
Aries intercepted in 1st house (for my 7th ruler in 1)
Sun-Moon-MC conjunction in SAgittarius; 1st house ruler in Sagittarius; Mars ocnjunct Jupiter; ASC-ruler conjunct Jupiter

Ruler of 7 conjunct Sun:
Sun on the MC and conjunct Moon

5th house:
Ruler of 5 in Capricorn in 1st house
ruler of 5 squaring Pluto:
his Sun and Moon in 10th house squaring Saturn
Aries intercepted in 1st house
(ruler of 2nd house squaring Pluto/ Mars, 1st house ruler, on the antiscia of Pluto)

8th house:
ruler of 8th house in Aquarius in 2nd house
Saturn in 8th house:
Sun and MOon in 10th house squaring Saturn
(Uranus exactly trine ASC, but probably minor; ruler of 2nd house in 11th house)
No Taurus or 2nd house placements

HIS pattern:

7th house

Desc in Virgo:
Mercury conjunct Sun in 1st house

Ruler of 7th house in Sagittarius in 9th house:
Sun-Mercury-conjunction in Sagittarius; ASC in Sagittarius squaring Jupiter

Ruler of 7th house squaring Mars and Jupiter:
for Jupiter, look above
ASC conjunct Mars

Saturn and Pluto in 7th house:
my Venus in Capricorn squares Pluto; ruler of 2nd house in 8th house

oh intercepted ruler of 7th house in Capricorn in 11th house, squaring Pluto
my Venus in Capricorn square Pluto
Moon in Aquarius

5th house:

ruler of 5th house in Sagittarius in 10th house; conjunct Sun and MC, squaring Saturn:
my Venus in Capricorn
my stellium in SAgittarius
my Sun in 1st house

mmh, maybe I have a bit too little Saturn / capricorn influence

8th house:

ruler of 8th house (Pluto) in Libra in 7th house, squaring Venus
my Venus in 1st house

ruler of 8th house (Mars) in Virgo in 6th house conjunct Jupiter and square Mercury
my Mercury in 1st house conjunct Sun
my SAgittarius Stellium

Uranus in 8th house:
my Aquarius-Moon

mmh, that doesn`t look too shabby actually

ruler of my seventh (mars) trine ruler of his first(sun).

trine his 8th house ruler

his 5th house ruler
conjunct my Sun
conjunct my 7th house ruler

his 7th house ruler
conjunct my Mars
conjunct my 4th house ruler
squares my 1st house ruler
conjunct my ASC

(both our 7th house rulers are conjunct each other`s Neptune, too)

his intercepted 7th house ruler on the antiscia of my Mars
his intercepted 7th house ruler on the antiscia of my 4th house ruler (and traditional 12th house ruler)

his 8th house ruler
trine my Moon
trine my 8th house ruler
squares my 2nd house ruler
on the antiscia of my 1st house ruler

(traditional 8th house ruler)
trine my Venus
trine my 5th house ruler
opposes my 1st house ruler
squares my ASC

(as you can see I concentrated on just a few houses and left out many others, like 10th or 12th).

oh the nodal axis aspects are interesting, too.

my 4th house ruler squares his nodal axis
his 4th house ruler conjuncts my NN
his 7th house ruler conjunct my NN
his interc. 1st house ruler squares my nodal axis
his trad. 8th house ruler squares my nodal axis.
his trad. ASC-ruler squares my nodal axis.
his MC-ruler squares my nodal axis.

DD, thanks a lot for this detailed analysis! X3 I've been looking at these aspects for a while, yet I can't even analyze my own chart's house rulers' aspects well lol. Guess that I need some time to learn about this (still not good at in-depth synastry/natal analysis lol).
But I feel that your theory about house rulers' importance and how to interpret them are really eye-opening for more details that weren't obvious by simple synastry reading method.

Actually, it seems that Indian astrology also gives a lot of importance for the house rulers' placements (in other houses), although they seem rather obscure, while western astrology and how you interpret them are more psychologically oriented.

About what you've mentioned about 4th ruler in the 6th house, I have to agree with you. I do adapt my own feelings to the environment, and I can analyze them and filter what to show and what not to.

quote:
7th ruler conjunct 5th ruler is really nice; a little bit like having Venus conjunct Sun. Both are houses having to do with romance; also the 5th is about your emotional selfexpression, and it seems that he is very much attracted to that.

This is very interesting, coz I think that my own emotional self-expression is one of the things that he loves in me. Actually, I have an artist side, and he usually motivates it.

quote:
conjunction to your 4th house could imply that you can build a home together or at least you feel at home with him, like you belong together, almost like family (maybe soul-4th house, mates-7th house?)

Yeah, it feels a lot like home when being with him. X3 Interesting is, his 4th/7th ruler that is conjunct my IC is Mercury, and I feel that it is by communicating that we even feel more like home.

quote:
7th house ruler squaring your ASC. I am still unsure about how to really interprete the square, but I guess you got his attention, and had a strong impression on him.

Actually, he has Mercury square AC in his own chart, and then I have AC/IC square in my own. Somehow, this manifests in a way that he might be evil when he speaks sometimes (Sag Mercury), even if he didn't mean to (square his DC)- like saying certain inappropriate jokes sometimes -, and then I still love his Sag Mercury (conjunct my IC) yet feel that it's evil sometimes (square my AC/DC). In another way, I can be a bit sensitive when he says something mean that he doesn't exactly mean to (Sag Mercury can sound mean to my Virgo/Pisces), yet I can still understand what he meant in the end lol.

DD, do you think the following aspects would be even further indications of soul mates?

my mars (7th) conjunct his saturn (7th) and DSC in aquarius (uranus)

I have uranus conjunct my DSC in Scorpio (7th) (mars) but in my 6th house (mercury)- virgo. conjunct his IC.(4TH)

Comica,

I am glad you can relate to my interpretation.
Why don`t you try interpreting my aspects for me? Maybe it is easier if it is not your own synastry?

Vesta,

I didn`t really use this to determine soulmates. It works with all relationships and just reflects the dynamic of the connection.

BUT if I were to think about soulmates I would check the:

4th, 8th and 12th house rulers

to

1st and 7th house ruler, and of course to the 4th, 8th and 12th house rulers themselves.
An emphasis on 4th house would be more about family, an 8th house emphasis more about sexual soulmates I guess.

quote:
my 5th house ruler
trine his Mars
trine his ASCruler (Jupiter)
trine his intercepted 1st house ruler (Mars)
trine his 8th house ruler (Mars traditional ruler of Scorpio)

Do you feel that your self-expression is inspired by him?

quote:
my 7th house ruler
conjunct his Sun
conjunct his Moon
conjunct his MC
conjunct his 5th house ruler
conjunct his 1st house ruler
square his ASC

His chore ego/emotions and public side, as well as his self-expression and identity fits the ideal of your relationship?

quote:
my 8th house ruler
trine his 8th house ruler

Could indicate similar approach to the 8th house matters.

quote:
his 5th house ruler
conjunct my Sun
conjunct my 7th house ruler

His self-expression can be an ideal trait for a partner for you, yet you can also inspire his self-expression.

quote:
his 7th house ruler
conjunct my Mars
conjunct my 4th house ruler
squares my 1st house ruler
conjunct my ASC

It seems that you fit his image of an ideal commitment partner too.

quote:
his 8th house ruler
trine my Moon
trine my 8th house ruler
squares my 2nd house ruler

He could feel comfortable with being intimate to your emotions, and your ideas about intimacy and other 8th house matters are compatible.

quote:
(traditional 8th house ruler)
trine my Venus
trine my 5th house ruler
opposes my 1st house ruler
squares my ASC

He feels comfortable for being intimate with you and the way you show your affections and express yourself, but your own sense of identity might challenge his 8th house issues.

quote:
my 4th house ruler squares his nodal axis
his 4th house ruler conjuncts my NN
his 7th house ruler conjunct my NN
his interc. 1st house ruler squares my nodal axis
his trad. 8th house ruler squares my nodal axis.
his trad. ASC-ruler squares my nodal axis.
his MC-ruler squares my nodal axis.

Wow, so many NN aspects! He should have a big influence on your growth/life path, although with the squares, it could come as a challenge.
