I'm just saying....it IS relevant. Why would the majority elect a black man if the majority is racist? Please answer because I think it's a valid point.

Coffee,

I will not look up all these women's charts to see why I find some more attractive. Sorry.

The Europeans created it and stopped it a hell of a lot sooner. Not saying it's right, but it's the cold hard truth.

And yes, the US being young IS part of the issue. It's young and arrogant and thinks it's the best which is why it's going to go down after starting wars and provoking other countries and not thinking it should pay the consequences. It will pay. Only then will it really grow up.

A LOT of guys like Sloan, me included lol. I think racism is stupid. We are all people. And for the record, black people do not like to be labeled "ethnic" or "people of color."

If you wanna get technical we are ALL "colored." We are all varying shades of brown and beige. No one is "white" nor "black." Racist people have ruined this world.

How them stopping slavery sooner have anything to do with how much better at race-relations they are? Newsflash: they STILL have the same problems you'll find here. And in some places, it's even worse than U.K. or America (see: France).

And if we're using your logic, that would make America better than Europe since we elected a black president. Not saying it's true, but I'm just applying your logic.

America at least does acknowledge racism (and tries to fix it, like putting anti discrimination laws in place) whereas I've noticed the UK and France like to say "HAHA LOOK AT THE UNITED STATES" and then ignore racism on their own turf (like the Burqa ban or overwhelming amount of xenophobia that's in the UK right now).

But I don't like to play the blame game.

Here in america you are either: Caucasian, Black, Hispanic, Asian, American Indian or other (from what I remember). There is no latin. I'm talking about regular questionnaires and not the census.

The last census had a seperate section for latin/hispanic and then asked if you were black or white.

It also listed asian by different countries (since historically Chinese people believe they are a different race from Koreans, Japanese, etc... hence the basis for Japan wanting to start a "Japanese Empire" and believed they were a superior race to Chinese and Koreans).

quote:
And for the record, black people do not like to be labeled "ethnic" or "people of color."

I'm pretty sure people of color is an acceptable designation for people who are not white. Racialicious, Shakesville, and other blogs who focus on racial issues use POC all the time. And I think they would know.

COLORED is a different story.

I think a desirable woman would be Katy Perry - she a scorp with those knock em out looks. That would be my choice if I were a man.

Big difference between the individuals and the media. Look at the whole problem with them whining about his birth certificate and his possibly being a Muslim. That's not racism? It took them forever because color is an issue. And religion.
This is what I mean. Still talking about the color of the president. Who cares about his color? I don't.
But it doesn't make a country less racist to have a half black president. There's an Egyptian word called 'manzar' which essentially means 'prop' or just for appearances. I wonder how many people voted for a half black president in order to FEEL like their country is less racist, even though it is definitely racist in many areas in the US.
Didn't you see the footage of random people interviewed and talking during the elections? He's black but he's ok. Isn't he Muslim? He's a terrorist. LOL.

Look, there are a lot of diverse, open-minded people in the US and they got him in. But some of those people are also NIMBYs who want to say they have a black president!
And there's also a HUGE divide and there are a lot of ignorant, backasswards folk who HATE the idea of him being there. And of course there are those who don't give a toss about his color but just don't agree with his policies, which is their right. I think I probably have a lot more respect for those people.

If you don't want to look at 99 names, look at 5 names. If you don't want to look at any, you don't have to, you are a free person - I think anyway. Slavery was abolished many years ago - I think.

The more positive part of this story is that 99 women, by reader poll, were voted as the most....whatever (insert word) from a population so big not even I would like to look at all the natal charts! That big!
Regardless of their status and how they may have got there to be considered by a large part of this worlds population, they are there. Such a focus should show up astrologically, for them to win the award, get placed.

If you want to look and see any patterns in 99 selected out of billions, that would be a good astrological test. Whether it be horses, sports people, actors and resses, or anyone on a much smaller scale than planet celebrity.

House 10 is award, house 1 used too. House 11 for fame. A good one to look at.
For desirability, look at what you find attractive if you can seperate. Looks? Likely to be house 1. That sexual feeling? House 8. Maybe do a detailed list of what you like about 1 person or even 5 and see if there is a reflection with the natals. Or just do whatever!

I can do the natals and rectify the charts of the Women, hopefully get a few correct.
I do understand that privacy is an issue and ways of getting round this, though it really shouldn't matter. I guess many are happy to reveal and be upfront as possible.

MVM, not saying the US is the arbiter of race relations, but it is pretty effing annoying when people from other countries say stuff like "WELL MY COUNTRY ISN'T AS RACIST AS THE US" when OF COURSE IT IS. There are ignorant a-holes in every country.

A few months ago there was a story about a BRITISH family who came to vacation at the Ritz in Florida who asked not be served by a black waiter. There are also many instances of people being xenophobic against Eastern Europeans during the last election in the UK. So please, look at yourselves.

It's not natural, but it sure is typical. That's what happens when you listen to Fox News and Rush Limbaugh and all the other conservative wack jobs.

I can't personally comment on the amount of racism in the USA since I haven't stepped foot on US soil - however, a friend of mine moved to NY & warned me to stay in the UK. She said that as a black woman, I had more opportunity of success in England. I was quite surprised at her comment since I thought the USA was more integrated than the UK.

In regards to the comment about the UK & US political leadership, I agree with whoever said there won't be a Black leader in the UK at least in the near future as in next decade or so.

The comparison between race & politics in the UK & the USA is tenuous. The migration of ethnic minorities to both countries is very different.

You have to remember that Black people were stolen, raped & taken to America several hundreds of years ago, so the black communities have had time to develop inspite of the racism they had to endure.

The vast majority of Blacks and Asians came to the UK as economic migrants from the 1950's onwards so it will take time until we are seen as credible contenders in UK politics.

There's actually a black woman - Dianne Abbot who's entered the Labour party leadership contest. I doubt that she'll win, primarily because of her political stance, she's too left wing for most Labour PMs - they view her as a legacy of 'old Labour'.
If the Labour party do happen to elect her, it's unlikely that the electorate will vote for a Black woman. I have a lot of respect for Dianne, in fact, she's my political hero.

There are a couple of favourable young BME MPs climbing up the ranks slowly, but surely - one is actually nicknamed the UK's Obama.

NO amowls, we DO NOT LIKE the designation People of color NOR do we like ETHNIC. We are people plain and simple; just like every othe homo sapien on the planet. The only difference is the melanin content in our skin. We are not "colored" or "people of color." Thats actually a backhanded diss to black people to call them "people of color." And I hate going to the supermarket and seeing the "ethnic foods" isle. I'm like WTF???? White people are no better than black and vice versa.

So regardless of what that blog says, we don't like that.

"MVM, not saying the US is the arbiter of race relations, but it is pretty effing annoying when people from other countries say stuff like "WELL MY COUNTRY ISN'T AS RACIST AS THE US" when OF COURSE IT IS. There are ignorant a-holes in every country."

TOTALLY AGREE. I wouldn't dare step foot in some other countries as the way they treat black people is faaaaaaaaaar worse than the way we experience racism here.

An absurd argument. That's the reasoning behind putting Japanese people in camps during WWII.

You know who one of our biggest allies is? Saudi Arabia.

I know but that is why I said it was natural. It's the most common response to the possibility of Obama being a Muslim.

Not making any arguments for "ethnic", but People of Color is a correct term... mostly because it's PEOPLE of color.

I can go around saying that I'd rather not be called asian but chink instead, that doesn't make it politically correct.

LOL @ ethnic foods
And you know what's funnier, GG? When the ethnic food shelf varies from small town to small town. Sometimes it's Hispanically geared.
Sometimes it's Jewish.
Sometimes it's Asian.
Hey, you never know!!

Amowls, I agree 100% with you about saying it's typical but not natural. Exactly how I feel.
