True, amowls.... but you know the Irish were treated like complete poop when they first got here lol No one wanted them. I think it's definitely over time this stuff will assimilate better....I keep having to remember that the US is VERY very young. IP: Logged |

Lara, the United States has the best political system. There are no if's and's or but's about it. The UK doesn't allow it's people to make choices. The government does; End of STORY. IP: Logged |

WOW talk about delusional. The battle of Normandy is what won the war and this is status quo knowledge. Is this argument going to be like the moon landing argument? IP: Logged |

Well I suggest you read a historians account of WW2 because you will find that the US version you have been told is untrue. I can't go into why now as I'm on my BB and it needs a concise and lengthy response, suffice to say that its a mistake to call someone delusional when you have no inkling as to their education nor knowledge. I won't argue with the possibility of there being many flaws and holes in the facts doled out in US textbooks, but i won't draw any conclusions either. Wars in general tend to hold a lot of lies and deceit. Just look at the Vietnam war as an example. IP: Logged |

Yeah well don't get me started on Nam nor Pearl Harbour. The latter of which was started by the US to gain 'national support!'.Go figure... personally i'd rather believe a Historian whom has been acclaimed for writing the most accurate description of WW1 and WW2. So accurate in fact that America has asked him to write the story of Napolean's landing in the USA (NYC) IP: Logged |

If we never entered WW2 you'd all be hailing Hitler or whoever took over for him in the present time. The French didn't even really resist, FFS. IP: Logged |

Y'know, this thread started as Scorpio rising, so lots of passion here. The Sun normally rises in Leeds about 5am and sets about 9pm. It's nice outside when you get red skies. I like that tons.IP: Logged |

Oh you did enter WW2, you managed to get most of your troops killed upon landing. Then you partied and shagged all the locals and went home proclaiming victory.Hitler would not have won even if you'd have all stayed at home eating Big Macs IP: Logged |

Oh yeah, we did nothing but Partay during the war. That's why we went there, ya know. We didn't fight at all. It's just a coincidence the war ended after we entered it.IP: Logged |

And you want to talk about flawed U.S. textbooks/P.O.Vs? Some Europeans still believe Native Africans and Asians BENEFITED from them carving up their lands. Atleast we don't have that sort of DENIAL here. IP: Logged |

Exactly! Oh and lets not forget all the land stolen and wars England started prior to WW1 & II.
We are WAY behind you guys as far as being greedy and war mongering. We have a lot of catching up to do.

no one said other countries didn't start wars, HELLO! It's just that the US always whining about how its **** doesn't stink and how awesome, which is annoying. I don't understand how some of you can't look at the place you live in objectively and see its problems, instead leashing out at how other countries are 'worse'! IP: Logged |

Well maybe if other countries weren't so rude and obnoxious to us, saying how awful our country is we wouldn't have to get defensive and stand up for it. Its not nice to tell americans they are stupid and their country sucks, ya know. I take that personally, since I love my country just like I assume others love theirs. We should seriously just not help anyone anymore since everyone is so damn ungrateful and says we don't anyway. We should just think about ourselves from now on. We need to become more selfish like every other country on the planet.

i understand the reaction, Diana. I don't think it's right to rudely criticize esp if the person hasn't lived in the country themselves and haven't experienced firsthand what it's like to be here. In general tho I've always had a very strong reaction against any kind of nationalism. IP: Logged |

1)You've been doing the exact same thing, and 2) None of us have denied there are social issues in the U.S. Why don't you direct that advice at yourself and LARA as well and then maybe it'll be taken seriously. IP: Logged |

How am I doing the same thing BM? I've lived in the US for 24 years and can criticize when I see something isn't right in the country where I have been living. That simply means I am aware because I read the papers, period. I am directly having experience with it myself since I LIVE HERE. And I'm not bashing other countries, so your point makes no sense in regards to me. IP: Logged |
