yeah i think about this a lot when i think about my ascendent

i have a taurus rising but my venus is conjunct pluto in scorpio in the 7th house right next to the descendent. my sun is also in libra along with my merc/mars. so im pretty venus ruled.

a lot of the times i have people tell me how sweet and almost innocent i come across and trusting. then when people get to know me they see a darker nature to my feelings which i think takes them by surprise.

Hmmm, my Asc is Taurus, ruler Venus is in Capricorn.

I do identify with her a lot but not only, the air is very tangible for me, which however could be coming from the out of sign conj. with my Aqua Mercury?

Yrone, in your case, following Coffee's system, you come across as a Taurus but are more Capricorn-like inside.
If the ruler of ASC (Venus) makes a conjunction to another planet (Mercury), then the energy of that planet will modify the picture. So it is quite "natural" for you to feel more "airy" than a regular Asc ruler in Capricorn.

Well yes. The only thing I am not quite sure about is the "come across as Taurus" because quite honestly I wouldn't know how a Taurus would behave in public/1st meetings.

It's very hard for me to judge the first impression I make on people or have a 3rd person PoV on my behaviour.

Also, people say they can judge the Asc from physical appearance, so according to that, what should I look like?

I understand Coffee's system and it works perfectly for me, because my Sun is in Scorpio, my Ascendant is Aquarius and its ruler, Uranus is in Scorpio, in 8th house (naturally Scorpio) conjunct Mercury. I am Scorpio through and through, but I don't know whether the outside world sees it or not, I suspect they probably see me as more of an Aquarius, because I can appear very changeable and I'm incredibly unpredictable and anxious.

I can't understand how the rest of my chart works under Coffee's scheme though. (That said, I can't work it out under traditional rules either, it just confuses me! :-( )

Depends on the degree/decan of your ASC.

Basically a Taurus ASC makes you Venusian, calm, polite, always seeking peace and harmony, sensual, and quite beautiful.

Yes actually me neither.
I don't see how we can stop using the planets' energies.

To me, Sun is identity, not the 1st house..
Same for the Moon and the 4th or whatever else house.

But maybe we're being too narrow-minded!

Even with traditional methods, I'm only capable of understanding one planet and one sign, or one planet one house - I can't combine all 3 or add in an aspect; I wish wish wish I could understand it better, but I cannot keep my mind focussed so I just don't get it. I'm so jealous of everyone here, I wish I understood it better aaaaaaaaaaaargggggggh!!!

You will! It was the same for me six years ago when I came here. I didn't post a thing, I don't think I even had a username, but I browsed the archive every day (the one in astrology 1.0). Trust me, you will

The Gemeni rising is indeed talkative and youthful, even in old age. The distinctive physical trait for Sag asc is a fuller bottom lip (think Brad Pitt, Elvis and prince William) and most of the time horse like, big teeth (sorry lol)

Don't worry Rachel, soon you'll be just as good as everyone else here. And by the way, everyone is not so good at astrology here yet, I, for example, only have the basics.

Thanks maira and doux reve, I just wish my mind would slow down and be more methodical but I can't control it, lol, it runs at a million mph all the time!

I've just posted my chart on a separate, "indulge me" thread lol so i can stop taking over coffee's brilliant thread. oops!

Thankfully I don't have teeth that big

I do have a fuller lower lip, although my lips are generally very full anyway (not Angelina Jolie-like but you can see they're full) - the strange thing is that I get the full and bigger lower lip from my dad, but he has Virgo rising. And his lower lip is more distinctively bigger! Odd...

Scorp sun , Gem moon, Cap mars and Sag nearly everything else! Well, except Pluto and Saturn :p

Isn't the lower lip almost always bigger than the upper lip? *confused*

That man I mentioned before with the Gem rising, has a bigger upper lip! It's pretty uncommon, but it happens.

Usually people have roughly the same size lips

Actually, his mother doesn't have it

Don't know about his father since no one seems to know who that is

I can't find the word in English, I meant bigger but also... um, not protruding, but it bends distinctively at the margin of the lip towards the chin (English is not my main language, so it's hard sometimes to explain, I know the exact term in my language. Maybe someone could look at the pictures of the people I mentioned and tell me the word, it bugs the hell out of me )

I'm sorry for derailing the thread too :flowers:
