Now you are angry with me?

(I'm just teasing you

Seriously now, I loved your post. I love to see men who reject these past "models". There is so much ahead of us now, together, not obeying each other.

Hmmm... I'd reply to some of the sexist comments made... except... this one time I saw a fly about to go down an exhaust pipe and I wanted to warn it, but then I realised I don't speak "fly"... so that would've been pointless.

That's my general drawback...

I don't know if you've ever heard of Emma Goldman (an anarcha-feminist). Until now I figured you had. I also figured you were somehow connected to a certain Goddess worshiping sect that I don't feel like explaining (though I'd never heard about immaculate conception or how it was supposed to have happened from any I knew but there are many offshoots), whether of a rare group that allows men to join or just close to a member (perhaps even married to a member). If you were then you'd likely have heard of Emma Goldman, but now I no longer think that's the case and so I'm sharing something because I think you might find it interesting (it's my nature to do that):

Hey Jane. Of course its sincere. Ive been building forever and I finally found the peace I was looking for. Never felt this complete. No im not part of any group or sect, but a notorious one invited me and kept bothering me but i had to respectfully decline. I ride soulo. Never heard of Emma Goldman but ill check out that link you sent tonight for sure. Thanks.

In fact, I think anyone considering giving opinions about feminism, women rights, female gender characteristics should do it by thinking of their mother first, I'm not sure this happens in all cases.

Therefore, like with everything falling into our laps through the courage and sacrifice of a few, gratitude is the only proper attitude, everything else seems disgusting, at least to me.

oh my! i totally agree with you. And i feel so irritated when I hear very young girls dissing feminism..they don't realise they are sabotaging their own lives.

Yes, but let's be honest the feminist's have taken a pretty bad approach. I am all for feminism, I've read a lot of well rounded books, taken a few gender studies classes, and volunteer all the time at our Gay and Lesbian community center in town (i'm straight)

That being said the way some feminists go about spreading the message is the worse I've ever seen. The crazy **** I've had said to me being a white male is really just amusing. There is not really any organization with as much radicalism and weirdness as the current feminist movement. So I think that plays a huge role in young girls not liking it too much. Which is sad! Sadly though, not many people read books like we do and can see the whole picture not just the bottom barrel preachers.

I have to disagree with you there. But then I've been around and mixed with lots of people so I've probably just got more exposure to all the craziness out there.

That said, most girls putting down feminism do so for very ignorant reasons which have little to do with the reality rather than genuine reasons. Believe me, I've certainly got my gripes about modern feminism as well, including the mainstream kind, but the stuff most people (especially girls, ironically enough) say to dismiss it makes me think they've never met an actual feminist in their life but only read about the most extremist kind that some dishonest folks like to portray as the mainstream and/or the straw feminist trope common in fiction.

Though I believe you about your experiences (especially if you like to play hip hop around them ), I've heard some real horror stories out there. And a friend of mine (white male, and his name made sure you knew he was male) wrote a brilliant article IMO that was feminist in nature and he got lambasted by certain feminists (though they were the type always looking for offense anywhere they could find it and their audience followed their lead) but when a female (obvious in both name and the picture that went with it) wrote a very similar article she was praised for it from the same group of people, SMH. (One article was only in a magazine and the other has since been taken down which is too bad as the article was still good, both of them were.)

And if the gender studies class you took actually PRAISED Valerie Solanas (as at least one genders studies program did) then I can completely understand why you say you can't find more radical and weird because it's hard to find crazy that intense (but I still maintain I've seen at least as radical and weird in all sorts of places).

Yeah I was exaggerating a bit! Of course other groups are crazier for sure. It's just being a college student there is just a ton of not well read feminist's in my life lol. It takes many conversations and frustration to be like, "Hey sister, I'm on your side" Lol.

Probably the hip hop doesn't help, that being said I try to avoid misogynist music which is really hard lol. Stuff like this is what i'm into.

Serious warnings it's time for you to update your circle of acquaintances

And please don't try to pretend: "I'm all for it!" while bashing something, no one here is 5y old not to notice that

Every movement has some radical wing, focusing on that is a lame attempt to discredit it. What matters is that the feminism I was talking about, the main movement and the core of it, means equal rights to men and women, empowering women in this respect, where they did not have this power. Globally, they are still behind with that, at this very moment. It's about equal rights for people, no matter the gender. Until this happens entirely, speaking against feminism is a form of promoting inequality.

Personally... I'm only critical of those feminist writings where the focus is on the past and present (almost like a historical mapping of current and past events), to the exclusion of a proactive plan for the future.

I don't like reading a paper that tells me: "This is the problem. Look, it's right here! It's a big fat problem" - and then offers me no possible solutions to the problem.

I'm left feeling like.. "What am I supposed to do here? Cry about the problem? Simply acknowledge the problem? Get really angry and outraged about the problem?"

Problems require solutions... not merely "raising awareness" about the fact the problems exist.

Well if feminists are all about liberating women tell them to go to a country where they are really needed. That would be more productive than b*tching about trvial **** here in the west.

As long as there are sexists, we need feminism in the Western world. I am pretty sure you prefer to bring the "other" lifestyle here though haha
