I am a huge mavs fan and have been for years. So its easy to understand that I was beyond thrilled when Vince Carter nailed a 3 at the buzzer to lift the mavs to a 109-108 victory over the spurs. Both teams fought equally hard and both teams were covered in sweat at the end... There were 18 lead changes during the course of the game and it was close throughout... But it all came down to luck at the end.. The mavs had the ball last and vince carter nailed a lucky 3 pointer to win the game and the arena erupted, it was luck... Simple as that.... As a basketball player myself I know how much luck factors into the game... The truth is basketball can be a very unforgiving game... Sometimes you step into the gym and make every shot you take and sometimes everything rims out and you cant buy a basket even if you are doing everything right. And wanna know something else? Everytime a basketball player shoots the ball they think it will go in, they envision it going into the basket. But guess what? Their belief that it will go into the basket doesnt mean it will... Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesnt... Thats just how it works.. Why is this important? Because it demonstrates that attitude has nothing to do with success or failure... And you know what? Life is just like the game of basketball in that way! You win some you lose some and you make some and miss some... Sometimes you are red hot and cant miss and other times you are ice cold and cant even convert on a simple layup. My point? Life happens and it has little respect for your positivity or lack thereof... All you can do is try your best and work your a** off and hope you hoist the trophy at the end of the day, but there are no guarantees! Basically I see positivity as a desirable mindset but nothing more.. What really matters is hardwork, and you dont need to be positive or sunshine and rainbows to do that.

You miss the lesson that when they shoot, they expect to score, if they miss, it does not effect their confidence one bit

And that is an internal charcter trait, not external, they get it,

I was in sales for yrs, and knew i'd fail 60% of the time, yet also knew, 40% of the time, i'd get paid so suffered the failures to get to the success

PPl don't remember your failures, they recall your successes..which the NBAers know

Micheal Jordan missed more GW shots then he ever made, yet everyone recalls the ones he made..that is the attitude of a winner

Mom went there w/a opal ring, will be interesting if she still has it..perhaps that bit of vodka will buy mom another set of eyes to watch over her

Yeah, that sounds like something my brother would do.

He always knows the best way to protect his own by keeping people on his side.

Kudos to you.
