I started that thread about Electronic Voice Phenomena and I gave my consent for it to be deleted. As did fayte.m Zala did not just go in and delete the thread. She consulted both of us first to get our approval.

Only one post has ever been edited by myself or Zala and that was in the closed thread last night when Silverstone called Star a name. It was an all around very nasty post. It was uncalled for. Normally I ask people to edit their own posts but I did not feel that would do any good last night and it didn't do any good when I requested Silverstone to edit out the name he applied to Star in his second personal attack on her.

This is the third thread I have closed since becoming moderator. All were due to non-productive arguing that resulted in personal attacks on members of LL. And I closed the first two when I saw the discussion was not only going nowhere but others were coming in and the arguing was escalating. That was also my reason for closing that thread. I gave a warning by telling those involved that if they continued on with the attacks the thread would be closed.

I am all for freedom of speech. But verbal abuse is not a part of freedom of speech. It never has been. Never will be. Verbal abuse is just what it says, using words to abuse and hurt other people.

People can make their point without calling others names or attacking their character or twisting and distorting their words just so they can start arguments. You can say what you mean without saying it mean. It's far more productive that way.

I like your correalation to the broken pot, Xodian. Very wise. Stresses a very good point.

Arguments only serve to disrupt discussions. They are designed to draw people off the topic and put the focus of attention onto to those that start the arguments.

The only person that Zala and I and any other mod at LL have to answer to for any decisions that we make as a moderator is Randall. So as Sattvic said instead of starting a thread which really is only designed to keep the arguing going on and on ad nausem anyone who has any complaints about a moderator and their decisions should take those complaints to Randall. He is the webmaster.

Any name calling or attack on the character of another member of LL is not only verbal abuse it is a direct personal attack.

LL Rules:

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this bulletin board to post any material which is knowingly false and/or :defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, insulting, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law. Randall selects moderators to insure that LL is a pleasant place for all members and to see that the rules are upheld by all members.

For anyone who comes to LL just to attack others and verbally abuse others they may be right, FFA is not going to be a safe place to post their verbal abuse directed at others because it's against the rules that we all agreed to when we became members of LL.

Randall's policy is normally to let these threads run and see if they work themselves out because sometimes they do. But when you don't see them working themselves out and only getting more and more nasty then they should be closed.

Thanks to all of you on this thread who have shown support for myself and Zala as mods at FFA. Your support is very much appreciated.

Zala sent an email to both of us simultaneously and said she wanted to delete that thread and asked for our consent????? We both gave our consent. In fact I still have that email that Zala sent to both of us at the same time.
