quote: some of the threads may be valid but personally, i have a hard time taking anybody's i think... into consideration when they continuously confuse the word your with you're..im sure there are people who would love to study these things and do their own research and every time i try to do my own, i eventually stumble onto a ll thread of these sorts..
Also, based on your own statement of preferences--why NOT use an apostrophe in the word "I'm"? Why not try to write coherently? ("i eventually stumble onto a ll thread of these sorts"--really??) My guess is that your writing here is sloppy for the same reason everyone else's is--it's an internet forum. IP: Logged |

If you can't be arsed to use the correct grammar and proper punctuation to begin with then I don't think you can be in the place to point out other people's grammatical errors. Just sayin'!IP: Logged |

....and the beginning of every sentence should be capitalized too, FYI. I'm not really harping on your grammar, just making a point. Overall, I get what you're saying re: the actual topic.

>>>wtf, I always try to help and I am NOT saying asteroids are FALSE, I am simply saying keep things in CONTEXT. Just because I don't agree with how far it can go doesn't merit rudeness, because I always try and go out of my way to help when I can.Is this what it comes to? No one can even give their own personal opinion after they have contributed and tried to help in their own way? >>> Completely agree. IP: Logged |

Asteroids are not everyone's cup of tea. I do not see any mature reason to criticize those who get results using them. Philip Sedgewick has excellent results using Trans Neptunian objects and he is the Guru of Star Seed Astrology. Eric Francis and Ziporah have tremendous results using Asteroids. Diane Rosenberg has had great results Fixed Stars. Using all of them with disciplined orbs, I see not one but many past life events which a client maps to a Psychic reading [after I give my reading] with unerring accuracy. Hence I will never hesitate to accentuate their usage on any astrology forum. Those who cannot comprehend them, just ignore the posts and save your valuable time. To each their own, if a system works for you, then all the best with that system.

eek. just another small slant on the capitalization element of this discussion: i don't use it because i actually prefer the look of text when it's not capitalized. i find it easier on the eyes; less jumbley and chaotic (as a whole) or something. smoother. and i think strict adherence to grammar and proper sentence structure and the like are shackles to free ourselves from! i write pretty freeform and sloppily, but this is closer to how most people think, taking intuition/emotion more into account than structure for its own sake. my personal and mostly off topic take. carry on. lordy. some people are better at grammar than others. i do not use capitals as a rule because one of my shift keys is broken!! mystery solved on this count anyway!!we are not writing books or newspaper articles here and many of us are just plain foreign. if you want to nitpick about grammar, pick your own nits first please!! I like asteroids BUTI do use them and have always done. I also understand duke's comment because I think he/she's right, planets are significants and I say so especially cause I am a fanatical of sabian symbols, and I do believe planets position are the structure of astrology. I mean, asteroids are great, as I said I use them, always did, naturally btw, not because someone told me my king asteroid was conjunct my queen and I was a king in a past life, or whatever.. so yeah, I use them, but go about explaining to someone he's got asteroid X and Y conjunct his sun means ..... whatever is something very dangerous in my view. dangerous, because, it's making assumption that will "qualify" or "define" the person, and guess why? because it's conjunct this planet. Thank you, Lucia23, for mentioning the use of capitalization and proper grammar. I actually laughed my a$$ when I saw this person complaining about other people mixing up the words YOUR and YOU'RE and didn't bother to use capitals letters or use proper grammar through the initial rant that started this thread. It takes colossal nerve to throw rocks from the front door of a glass house. COLOSSAL NERVE!! The part that makes me laugh the most is he/she then claims to refuse to discuss the matter any further once it's pointed out. Are you kidding me? REALLY? It seems to me that The Duke's rant was more a critique of the subject matter that people post here and how they choose to think and communicate about it. When you break it down in the most simple terms, he's pointing his finger at us and telling us that we're stupid for being interested in the topics we discuss. To that I say - kiss it! You don't like it, move on! No one's forcing you to read here. The internet is as vast and wide as space and the planets in it. ...and for the love of God please use some capital letters and proper grammar. You know, the alphabet is a symbol system, also. I don't trust astrologers who don't respect the alphabetical symbol system (grammar). If you can't respect the rules of language or at least TRY, how are you going to respect the rules and symbols of astrology? IP: Logged |

Yeah, I don't personally mind if someone has different preferences than I do re: grammar use or writing style. And I like the forum aspect of a forum, where people discuss their similarities and differences of opinion. But I do mind when someone seems to be posting slurs or insulting others, apparently just to be an ass and try to make people feel bad. It's especially weird and unfortunate in the case of The Duke, like an 800-lb. person accusing a 350-lb. person (or a healthy-weight person, even) of being obese. But even the hypocrisy wouldn't rankle me so much if it weren't for the spirit behind the post. So yeah--KISS IT. IP: Logged |

ugh, geo, i love your stuff, but aren't you basically repeating the hypocrosy of the duke? not that you started a thread with gunz-a-blazin or anything, but do you honestly think people who do not adhere to YOUR (note: ANYONE's) preferences regarding grammar/capitalization (granted, they are Proper and The Law of Language and all) are not to be taken seriously?i have a friend who is an english prof and an author. he is an aquarius like myself and he is not fond of such rigid language restrictions, despite being aware that they are preferred and The Norm. he thinks language is evolving, including structure. i couldn't agree more. what is so wrong about doing things your own way and having your own style? is it THAT hard to glean the meaning of a sentence when it isn't structured in a specific way? no. further, those who lack awareness of correct grammar are not doing it intentionally. i know i'm ranting and this hasn't a whole lot to do with what you're saying to the duke specifically (and i get your point; i laughed too).. i just hate when ANYONE says that something HAS to be done a certain way or it is WRONG. s'all. Actually, Pire, with comments like this: quote: some of the threads may be valid but personally, i have a hard time taking anybody's i think... into consideration when they continuously confuse the word your with you're..
...The Duke is basically saying that s/he has decided not to value other posters' contributions to any debate or discussion, based on their grammar choices. I don't see how that's anything but being assy, just to be assy. It's rude, hypocritical, and unneccessary, but the salient point is that it's also wildly inaccurate--demonstably, lots of posters with crappy grammar have valuable astrological insights. His/her comments on other threads have often been mean-spirited, too. IP: Logged |
