You start a thread that obviously won't go down well with some, and then you call people wolves, when they get defensive? In case you hadn't noticed, things have been tense around here lately.

I don't see anything wrong with the asteroids, as long as I'm not being forced to actually read and interact in the threads.

And my communication skills are just fine on most days; not so much when I'm feeling depressed and crabby, but then I usually avoid interacting with people in general, when I'm feeling that way. I expect rudeness, if I'm picking at something, or picking on someone. I expect defensiveness, no matter how old somebody is.

Your complaints about grown-ass people doing this or that, could easily be reflected back at you, when you display certain attitudes - like this - of your own. (I say this with kindness - I'm not angry.)

Telling it like it is is only valid when you actually practice what you preach. Otherwise, you're frickin' hypocrite.

i think as with any off topic (well not so much in this case) divergence in threads, the arguments and points of contention that ensue are really just a display of peoples' uniqueness. they are fascinating to me and i don't get why emtotions get so infused and shackles get so raised in these things, cuz NO ONE ever sees perfectly eye to eye. we all live in our reality tunnels. so why not just take an attitude of sharing and learning and productive debate?

Woah Cakes,

quote:
aren't you basically repeating the hypocrosy of the duke?

No, but I’m open to your explaining how, but I beg you to use capitals where they should be, not to be mean to you or anything, but I’m very serious that it’s difficult for me to read all lower case. I like you, Woah City, but it really drives me crazy to read all lower case. I confess that I skip most posts that are in lower case. It’s true. I get very tired of reading after a few sentences and I just stop. But I don’t want to control anyone’s actions, so do what you need to do. In the spirit of rant, let’s all go hog wild.
quote:
do you honestly think people who do not adhere to YOUR (note: ANYONE's) preferences regarding grammar/capitalization (granted, they are Proper and The Law of Language and all) are not to be taken seriously?

No, I didn’t say “people” are not meant to be taken seriously. I said
quote:
I don't trust astrologers who don't respect the alphabetical symbol system (grammar). If you can't respect the rules of language or at least TRY, how are you going to respect the rules and symbols of astrology?

That’s what I said.

quote:
language is evolving, including structure. i couldn't agree more. what is so wrong about doing things your own way and having your own style?

That’s 2 different subjects that you’re addressing in this phrase. I agree that language is evolving (language includes structure) as well and there’s nothing wrong with that at all, but at some point a structure will evolve simply because Saturn exists. At some point people will want clarity about the new language and that’s how dictionaries and style manuals evolve. One can be on the forefront of the changes, but there’s always someone documenting the changes so that the world can comprehend it. That’s what it all comes down to, comprehension. I’m also a big believer in knowing the rules before you break them.
I am a well studied jazz musician. Jazz is known (symbolically and spiritually) as chaos music. Not many people can just jump into playing and learning jazz without knowing and having played classical (Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, etc.) and learning classical theory, etc. Know the rules before you break them. That doesn’t mean there is no room for innovation. Life can be ambiguous, and I accept that as well.
quote:
is it THAT hard to glean the meaning of a sentence when it isn't structured in a specific way?

YES, YES, YES!! I see that you answered the question already, but that’s your individual opinion. It’s very different for me. As a matter of fact, I answered the question before I saw that you had written the word “no” right after the question mark. Mainly because the letter “n” wasn’t capitalized and we’re all trained in the U.S. school system to recognize and look for a space and then a capital “n” or other letter if the person is to continue. So, that’s my answer to that question. My personal opinion.
quote:
i just hate when ANYONE says that something HAS to be done a certain way or it is WRONG. s'all.

If you re-read what I wrote, you’ll see that I kept it all as my own opinion. I never said that anyone was REQUIRED to follow the rules. What I clearly stated is that I, personally, don’t trust[b] “astrologers” who don’t respect the alphabetical system which includes grammar.
I also urge you to remember that I said if someone is giving it a good attempt, that is definitely to be respected. I’m not perfect with grammar and I don’t expect perfection, but to ask for someone to simply use capitals where they will make it easier for the eye to flow, that’s not asking too much. But I live in the real world and understand that it won’t happen, but my standards are kicked up a notch when it comes to astrology or medical jargon. When it’s not done correctly, it can endanger your life. I’ve seen so many people on this website panic about misinformation or if they’re reading symbols incorrectly, they’ve taken to their beds in fear only to laugh with joy after I’ve told them that they read it wrong or that the symbols actually foretell excellent fortune instead of doom and gloom. Rules aren’t meant to cage you in, they’re mean to make life a little easier and safer. Rivers need riverbanks or else you have chaos, and not the good, fun, jazzy kind.

thanks for the reply, geo. Just for you I'll use captialization in my reply to you. I understand where you're coming from, definitely. I've never used capitalization and like I said it just disturbs my flow. Even the act of pressing the shift key distracts me from my thought process, weird as that probably sounds! It's interesting how we have the exact opposite reaction to the look/flow of captialization vs. lower case. My after-breakfast time on LL is up and I'm doing housework/cooking/playing now but I'll reply to you more thoroughly later.

Pire,

in what way did I do what you accuse me of?

I was just answering the question in the thread title and giving my opinion. That`s all I did.

The remark about virgoism actually is just a reflection of two of the poster`s here talking about their virgoanity themselves. So I don`t see it as an insult.

Actually I interpreted the disgressing into the "grammar-discussion" as exactly an unwillingness to delve into the original topic anymore, which is fine by me.

At the end of the day everyone has their opinions and they will not be convinced otherwise.

Asteroids are soooo accurate and if you don't know that then I suggest you study your chart a bit and prove yourself wrong.

I changed my last name when I was 16, and the name I changed it to just happened to be progressing over my ASC when it was changed.. Coincidence? No!

I met someone when I was having my Nodal Return. His name asteroid in my chart is in exact square to my Natal Nodes...

My first name asteroid falls into my first house.

My last name asteroid in someone's chart, is at 8 Aries, and we met when his Progressed Venus was at 9 Libra. It was I that activated this! Plus my Sun/Moon Mp is at 8 Aries.

His first name asteroid is in his first house.

We met in California, asteroid California is conjunct the Composite Sun.

The proof is in the pudding.

I guess that the idea that asteroids are about details while the major objects (planets, angles, etc.) are still the main dish isn't news here, since it's often stated in different threads in LL already.

But well, there's nothing wrong with researching other things too besides the basic ones. They don't cease to exist (asteroids and other objects) just coz we ignore their existence.

Asteroids aren't any less important than the planets and points and I think that's why people are getting confused. If you do want to know something specific about who you will marry or who you have lust for or how a certain person impacts your DSC, the asteroids are there to tell us.

I agree with you raspberri. Everything in a chart be there and will tell us a story but you will never be completely sure how it will works out.

and popcorn, earlier in the thread, it was already stated that you speak swenglish, which i think is pretty cool but i don't want you (or anybody else in a similar situation) to think that because of my take on not wanting to have conversations with people that can't tell the difference between certain words, that i look down upon you for not being a native to the english language, or that i won't communicate with you at all because that is not the case. i don't want the message to be lost amidst the translation.
