ICU psychosis usually only happens when one has been in the ICU for a very prolonged time...and it is very real!

hippichick... {{{ }}}

yeah... life and death! You watch it, day to day. And, have to keep an eye on clerks and workers... deathly serious, this is the PIT of responsibility!!

What role does "drug side-effects" play in the 'deficiencies'? I would think it could be as much as the oxygen deprivation?

This ia a very stressful time for Lexx so may we keep it on track

Lindaland is glitching for me so I`m not sure if I am on top of the thread but I`m still praying for you and hubby. I hope you got some rest!

He is home now.
This is all still very stressful and exhausting to say the least, for him;
and for me too.
Two sick and disabled people trying to take care of each other, it is beyond taxing both physically and emotionally.
Also we are still trying to figure a lot of things out, from how to give shots, to how to get more medical tests and treatments and pay for such for us both.
Also having troubles getting copies of everything they did at hospital.
Both of us are so damn exhausted and foggy headed.
It is still all just one moment at a time.
I have fallen ill on top of my disability body woes.
I am exhausted and sick.
Sure need some good miracles to come our way..

I might not post or post much until things get better in my world.
Only posting because I had to get up and take care of him so he can try to rest and for me to take my pain/spasm/infection; etc. meds.
Neither one of us is getting enough rest.
We are both up with pain right now.

I also wanted to thank you all again.
Please forgive me for not replying individually to everyone at the moment.

Hope you two are managing okay today!

I saw this page http://my.clevelandclinic.org/patients-visitors/support-therapy/social-work.aspx

And felt some optimism about the resources they may have to offer.

Hopefully you can accomplish a lot with only a few phone calls and then rest.

Hi hon!

Glad you both are home.

Is there some type of, usually state funded, clinic system that helps folks like yourselves?

You both would qualify for medicaid.

Sending love and blessins!

Lexx, if hubby continues needing Insulin and you have access to a Wal Mart store, they have Novolin 70-30, meters and test strips at bargain prices. The Insulin is $25, 100 strips are $36. Anywhere else the Insulin starts at $72 & up. The strips start at $52 & up anywhere else.

I hope you get your rest, regroup and are back soon.

PS I should have added the meter is a no frills , easy to read but gets the job done for under $9 !

Hi Juni!

It seems that his diabetes is quite insulin resistant, that is why I stated he should be on a long acting, and boy is it not cheap

I think they need to get a good lawyer (of course fees will apply) and get on disability and medicare/medicaid.

He is doing better but still not good.
Doing the waiting game here and Still looking into prices and all.
What a nightmare.
He is supposed to be on Lantus.
He got a month free and a meter and strips.
They all cost over $200 without a deal.
Might be able to get a discount.
Not sure yet.
My sugar is almost as bad as his.
My total monthly disability income is not enough to pay for all the meds and tests and doctors we both need, let alone pay for groceries, utility bills, taxes, etc.
So we do without.
Same for vision care.
Wearing same contacts for several months not just a week or month.
Dental, yeah, dental health dropping,
cannot afford that either.

OK;
sorry;
very gloomy not optimistic today.
I am sick but must just try to get well on my own.
Have several prescriptions turned in but suspect I will not be able to afford them.
yippie

Thank you all for caring.

Haven't been here for quite a while, but got a feeling I should come visit.....
Lexx, I'm so relieved that hubs is out of the hospital, even though there are still enormous challenges to face. I'm with Hippi on the get-a-lawyer thing - do you think you can find one in your town that would handle a case like yours?

Seeing you both feeling much better soon, and sending Love & {{{ hugs }}} to you both

Just stopping in a moment to update.
Forgive me the brief reply.
Very tired here.

My husband wanted me to tell you all;

quote:
I am heavily medicated and resting but want to thank you all for the caring and well wishes.
I appreciate all your helping us to cope.

He is very medicated and mostly sleeping.

I got some of my meds today.
Will get the rest on March's disability check.

ZALA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I lost your e-mail address in a computer crash.
Also my old hotmail does not work.
Thank you for the well wishes BSK.
Love LSF.{{{hugs}}}
