I think Lady Neptune said it. Madonna is more vulnerable than she lets on. And I think what happened, is that Guy voiced (unpleasantly) what non of the toadies who surround her would dare. And that is, that it's NOT that she is too old to perform but it might be that she is too old to dance around in leotards and in an overtly sexual manner. There is a desperation about her now. Instead of relaxing into another type of presentation of her art, she appears to be clinging on to the image that she had in the early 80's. She hasn't reinvented herself this time she has rehashed herself. That video with Justin Timberlake was strangely disturbing. He looked awkward as if he didn't know how to respond to a menopausal woman thrusting herself at him and I found myself thinking "Oh no...stop this now.. I think Madonna has found the only area of her life that she has been unable to control and that is aging. She reminds me now of Bette Davis in "Whatever happened to Baby Jane" But the one thing in Guys defence is that he said he would not take a penny from her. Now that is an old fashioned British attitude and one to be applauded. Most British men would not be caught suing for emotional distress. They may be emotional retards but at least he wont be weeping and wailing all the way through her bank account! IP: Logged |

I think this is karma. She was known to be domineering and mean to people and I think she finally met her match. She was attracted to someone like herself except he was stronger and maybe she never expected to be put in her place. If you look at the astrology, there is definitely: His Sun/Jup conj Her Moon. Her Moon is actually the apex of the t-square, Saturn is the final member. She didn't approve of the natural leadership of his expanded Sun. She was happy to follow with her Moon but ultimately didn't like it. Otherwise, there might be a chance of His Moon trine her Sun but that is no match for the conjunction in terms of strength. Plus his Saturn and Moon were on her SN opp her Jup. He would take down her optimism like she did to him but he would drag her back in a Saturnine fashion and an emotional fashion. It looks like that she pulled the plug. Her NN is in Libra, his is in Aries, no opp between them but going in different directions. quote: And that is, that it's NOT that she is too old to perform but it might be that she is too old to dance around in leotards and in an overtly sexual manner.
Agreed, I think you can still be sexy when you are old but not in the way that she did it. quote: There is a desperation about her now. Instead of relaxing into another type of presentation of her art, she appears to be clinging on to the image that she had in the early 80's.
It's called aging. She knows she's not young and she like everyone of us thought that we were to be forever young in our younger days. Young is when you think you are invincible and immortal. As I was saying yesterday to someone else, it must be awfully hard to have the world at your feet when you are young and to be in such an immensely powerful position. It must be awfully hard being someone who was known for their beauty or sexual prowess (eg model, singer) and to watch their image just melt away by age. She is lucky that she still has fame that requires no further work. She's addicted to the power and wants to stay on top but knows that her youth is gone. She knows that she can't be young again. I know how she feels, I'm only 32 and I know logically I am still young but then you see the young kids out there on the streets with their carefree ways and you think how reserved and "old" you might appear. I think this is particularly hard on women who are emulated to be beautiful and to be thought only as beautiful. Men are seen to be better as they get older, women are considered worthless IMHO (unless you're Helen Mirren lol). quote: She hasn't reinvented herself this time she has rehashed herself. That video with Justin Timberlake was strangely disturbing. He looked awkward as if he didn't know how to respond to a menopausal woman thrusting herself at him and I found myself thinking "Oh no...stop this now..
I agree re reinvention. Every time the Timberlake video came on TV I didn't bother to watch it. However, remember that Timberlake is going to be an old dude. Pitt's already showing it... quote: I think Madonna has found the only area of her life that she has been unable to control and that is aging. She reminds me now of Bette Davis in "Whatever happened to Baby Jane"
I guess so.

I think that's the problem - without her public sexual persona, Madonna is really nothing. She NEEDS the adoration of the masses. That's where she gets her sense of security. IP: Logged |

Yes, I know! Helen Mirren is this brilliant anomoly. Even I'm in love with her. She's amazing. The perfect lady showing the way in how to grow into yourself and your time with elegance and grace. There's more beauty in owning the lines on your face and how they got there than trying to hide them. IP: Logged |

The Cancer Rising, 10th house Moon seems right. North Node in 10th house, now there's a hint. ***************** "A Friend" has spoken! But in the News of the World, so there isn't a pinch generous enough for the salt. http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/news/article48773.ece
quote: The friend also revealed how Guy poured his heart out to him about his distaste for his wife’s bulging muscles. “After a few drinks one evening Guy said it was like cuddling up to a piece of gristle,” said his pal.
quote:
We uncover Guy’s secret HATRED of her obsession with the mystic religion Kabbalah, which exploded one night with him storming at her: “You think it has made you a better person? It’s made you worse, you selfish cow!”
quote:
MADONNA’S love for Guy was heading for the rocks—from the moment he FORGOT to get her a present on their FIRST VALENTINE’S DAY, pals revealed yesterday. When the film director realised his mistake he had to dash to a PETROL STATION to buy the superstar a last-minute bunch of basic blooms.
And they went down like a sack of the proverbial.

I'd be grateful (and surprised) if my husband bothered to make that much effort for me on my birthday, let alone Valentine's Day. ROFL IP: Logged |

Overexercised and horribly aged? If we wanna talk about class, dignity and perhaps "Britishness", then yes age=certain restriction. Unfortunately, these days, too many old hags wander around thinking they-re hot s**t and ridiculing themselves. Hey! you have an amazing body, congratz to you. Still, behave appropriately. From experience, British people are not afraid of speaking their minds and criticize everyone and everything [sometimes, a tad too much]. IP: Logged |

Very true, we tend to be a cynical lot. quote: when it came down to it she really wasn't british and didn't understand his responses, from what it sounds like! i know plenty of english men who are anything BUT emotional retards, though you do have to be able to read between the lines a lot of the time!
I pretty much agree with the sum total of katatonic's post As for leaping around in corsets... it doesn't really bother me but haven't we been here before? She's admitted before when she thought about it maybe it was less about sexual emancipation than attention-seeking. If she is an a crusade to say you can be post-menopausal and sexy, great, but I wonder if deep down it is about not wanting to get old. The main problem I find is that she just isn't sexy. It just seems mechanical, passionless. The video with J.T ~ case in point. Just my view, it doesn't bother me that she wanted to make it. IP: Logged |

it's true, tina turner is coming out this year and she is 70 years old. but she has considerably toned down her act, gradually over the years, and lets her dancers shake THEIR booties while she concentrates on singing, leading them and communicating with the audience. and she is no longer pretending to be "current" - as far as i know there are no new songs, this is a revisit for those who want to return, or those who were too young to catch her before...but i'll bet she does it with pride and dignity! madonna is a publicity hound and nothing hits the tabloids like the breakup of a famous WOMAN's marriage...i think the cruelty and abuse come from the lawyers' office, not her own..

Never in a million years did I think I would be defending Madonna. I've never liked her but I think she looks amazing. She needs to finally get rid of the gap in her teeth but other than that she looks better than she ever did. Look at Cher. Still going strong. I can't believe this hen party picking her bones. It's misogynistic and sexist. As for him, he's always seemed jealous and threatened by her. "Forgetting" her birthday and bringing flowers from the gas station-She's a LEO. Not only that it's inexcusable to act the way he did when she fell off the horse and broke her ribs. He's a passive aggressive bitter little imp of a man. THERE. IP: Logged |

stillatlarge, yes she does look amazing, but is it really misogyny to prefer a 50 year old to mature from her 30-yr old image? i don't think so...you can still look great and be sexy OF COURSE but it is different. and madonna is the first to admit that part of her gorgeousness is due to the beholders "standing far away" (her word not mine). and i agree with whoever said she has not so much re-invented as re-hashed herself. time for a new perspective from miss m...i can think of plenty of women older than she who look better with every passing year - meryl streep, helen mirren, diane keaton, look at shirley mclaine! they are still doing sexy AND beautiful but mostly they have put on some weight and included their experience into their impact!IP: Logged |

Correctomundo. In some way, she is the best example of Leo at it's most extreme (in terms of bad qualities of Leos). When she's up high, she looks down upon all and makes it known that she is queen. When she's down on her chips, she looks like a desperate child looking for attention. The Valentine stuff also indicates that. She requires attention and stillatlarge is right in that she is a Leo and needs to be treated well. All this from a 12 th house Sun too! quote: chart with cancer rising:
I'm starting to agree, I saw Cancer in the photo on this page: http://www.news.com.au/entertainment/story/0,26278,24522143-7484,00.html quote: If l look like Madonna at 50 then i'll happily still wear corsets, short skirts and look damn sexy!!!
I wouldn't say she's horribly aged but I would agree that she is too muscley for my taste. quote: Valentine's Day is overrated anyway
And for all of us that are in the know, we know that St Valentine Day is celebrated bang smack in the middle of Aqu, which is associated with friendship. My understanding is that St Valentine's Day was originally a day to celebrate friendships....now for the politically minded, it's a Capitalist ploy to extract money from consumers

That is archaic. She has the money to take care of every problem she has and still look 30. I think those people look like crap. Come on. She's a stage performer. 50 is not what it used to be. And Diane Keeton and those people never approached the likes of a Madonna in their appearance in their youth so they're certainly not out to prove anything at 60. Nobody is on here saying Mick Jagger should hang it up. Or George Hamilton or David Hasselhoff or Burth Reynolds. She has a better body than a lot of teenagers. I say she should get everything out of life that she can and not slink away in shame. I can't believe the attitude of the women here. You take us back 50 years. It's not the men that keep women down-it's the other WOMEN. I hope she does a Demi and gets an 18 year old. That'll give you bitties something to cackle about.IP: Logged |
