Totally agreed. There's millions of artists that aren't successful that would be just as good, if not better than Madonna and didn't sell records for myriads of reasons, eg didn't want to be on a major label, didn't have the desire for world recognition, wrong place-wrong time, music too futuristic etc. It's a bit like the Stephanie Rice fiasco, PA. The media keep on saying she's hot and she can be a supermodel. Talking about someone continuously does not make them hot. Selling records continuously doesn't mean they are musically the best.

Yeah, I never quite got that. How someone with a brilliant voice and genuine talent who sings from their soul doesn't always reach the audience or success that sometimes a heartless beat and bad vocals can. It comes down to the publicity machine, I suppose. IP: Logged |

Opinion = Judgment. We've got a right to judge as an individual if she fits into our own personal taste. I don't agree with how you want to always shut down someone when you don't agree, you shout them down. It's not personal and i'm not shouting you down so no need to go into defensive mode nor project! I'm just saying that you don't have a right to judge another unless you have walked a mile in her shoes and you haven't!!! You can say "i think she can be in bad taste" but you can't say "She shouldn't dress so provocatively" - she's the same as you and me and she is incredibly intelligent and obviously successful so good for her! Judging an individual behind their back when the reasons for judging her are not even worth the paper they are written on is just incredulous me thinks... please don't now judge me for my opinion otherwise my next post will be pot kettle black LOL You know, l always think that when we have such strong opinions about others we should look inside ourselves and ask "What do l hate about myself that l feel the need to hate in another" Peace x IP: Logged |

Absolutely, and when publicity is created and the public get the first taste of it and are hooked, the artist is then made. The allure is created and it keeps recycling especially if the stories and publicity is juicy. Just look at Britney or anyone else like Paris, even Duran.IP: Logged |

That's what I said and that is both an opinion and a judgment. To say that I don't like her, I made a decision that I don't like her and judge her "negatively" from there, for example. I just don't agree with you. It is right to not judge everything but it's come to the point with the world that everything is seeing as being judgmental. Judgment is required for the sake of an individual's morality. Sure, I haven't worked a mile in her shoes but her behaviour indicates otherwise. You can watch "In Bed With Madonna", watch interviews and other things and you can detect her attitude from her interview. She might be different in private because not everything in a person can be expressed publicly. However, I've got a right to judge her on her public behaviour. I can only make the assumption that it carries over to some extent in her private sphere. Courts and the legal system, societ, people every day form judgments in order to move on in life.

23Yes, you're right. Because when you think about it the same stories are hashed and then re-hashed forever. The same notorious (no pun) stories of Duran Duran sleeping with all the Girls On Film models - and even our GodZala thread - the guys there - the same stories are rehashed for years. Rafe will NEVER live down the airline hostess. Jude will never live down the nanny thing. And RDJ - well, he's in a world of his own there. It's the stigma. And people like to remind you - this stuff is far more interesting. And scandalous. Guy Ritchie - no matter what other talents or merits - will always now be primarily referred to as Madonna's former husband. IP: Logged |

She's a talented performer, morpher and user of the media. She has some ability to hold a tune. She is not to my taste, not my favourite musician and she maybe to a musicologist/music professor might not be objectively the most talented individual. Modern pop music is not only about talent, there are many things else that go with it such as image, sex appeal etc etc. IP: Logged |

Seems like you might be her number one fan. Doesn't sway me - I don't care about her sales - it's good marketing - she has a mediocre voice and very little acting talent, at best - and that's not a judgement - that's an opinion. She's still mutton dressed up as lamb to me. No matter which way you portray her. IP: Logged |

YOU are going to suffer... your immediate future is now going to be negative because you chose to beat up Madonna. I hope it was worth it I also hope you can see what i'm getting at cos it sucks! Which is unfortunate for him as he might be talented in his own right. But yes, these things never die down, it just recycles, hypes and makes the person(s) bigger. Madonna also falls in this class. It's the legend that is created by these people that we fall in love with, just like Levi's Jeans - "Do You Fit The Legend?" IP: Logged |

Lara - if I don't like her, how would that affect you?I mean what are you, do you secretly work for her as her personal assistant? Most of the time in life I don't even *think* about Madonna. She's most of the time she's just this image on TV that I don't pay attention to because most of the time, she's boring to me! It's only now that we have this disagreement that the whole thing is bothering me. I was fine before disagreeing with who she was. IP: Logged |

Yes, I think he is - very talented actually. But you know - maybe the same thing will happen to him that happened with Nicole Kidman when she parted with Tom Cruise and that he'll be out from under that umbrella and do his own thing. I think he'll also have a lot of public sympathy. But also - people will be curious about him too.

Oh please, I've got a right not like Madonna. Full stop. Just like I don't care for George Clooney or Shane Warne or Angelina Jolie or John Howard or Paul Keating or Kyle Sandilands. Welcome to the world of bad synastry. We all can't like each other. IP: Logged |

Exactly, difference makes the world go round. We hate those that differ from us but where would be if they weren't around? We wouldn't even be able to figure our own personal tastes for example.
