I thought I should do a little research on these aspects in synastry, composite and Davison, using celebrity couples mostly.

1) Angelina Jolie - Brad Pitt:
Composite:
Pluto exactly semisextile Persephone

Davison:
nothing; but Sun is exactly conjunct Proserpine and Moon is exactly conjunct Persephone.

2) Antonio Banderas - Melanie Griffith:

synastry:
his Pluto squares her Persephone

Composite:
Pluto exactly semisextile Proserpine

3) A not famous couple:

synastry:
his Pluto opposes her Persephone
her Pluto exactly semisextile his Proserpine

Composite:
Pluto exactly conjunct Proserpine

Davison:
Pluto exactly semisextile Proserpine

4) Friends of mine (married for 5 years):

synastry:
his Pluto widely sextile her Persephone (2.5)

(I must add that their relationship is not so much based on passion and romance as on equal partnership, friendship, loyalty and familiarity)

5) Paul Newman - Joanne Woodward:

synastry:
his Pluto exactly conjunct her Proserpine

composite:
Pluto semisextile Proserpine

6) Johnny Cash - June Carter:

composite:
Pluto widely sextile Persephone (2.5)

7) Johnny Depp - Vanessa Paradis:

synastry:
her Pluto quinkunx his Proserpine

8) Katherine Hepburn - Spencer Tracy

Davison:
Pluto exactly semisextile Proserpine

9) Paul Mc Cartney - Linda Mc Cartney

Davison:
Pluto exactly sextile Persephone

10) Liz Taylor - Richard Burton

DAvison:
Pluto exactly squares Proserpine

Compsoite:
Pluto exactly trine Proserpine

synastry:
his pluto quinkunx her Proserpine

Hmm, what`s up with all these semisextiles?

Maybe in the Draco`s there would be stronger aspects, where there are only semisextiles in tropical?
This is at least true for Angelina and Brad, as her Draco Pluto exactly conjuncts his Draco Proserpine.

Oh you asked for one of the myths that intrigue me the most.

Pluto was once absolutely uninterested and unwilling to fall in love and allow feelings distract him from his job. That was just not his "cup of tea". He was doing his job and that was it.
Now, Aphrodite and Eros didn`t approve of that detached attitude, and Aphrodite convinced her son to shoot one of his arrows on Pluto.

Now, when Pluto came up from the underworld Eros shot him, and Pluto fell desperately in love with the young maiden he saw plucking flowers (in other versions, he just fell in love with her without the influence of Eros).
That young virginal maiden was Proserpine / Persephone, the daughter of the goddess Demeter / Ceres, a goddess of spring herself (Proserpine the spring goddess).

However, Pluto was obsessed with Proserpine, and made a blood red narcissus grow on the field. Proserpine was fascinated, intrigued by the flower, but didn`t dare plucking it.
But the image of that flower haunted her even in her sleep, so she got up at night, returned to the field and plucked that flower.

The same moment the ground opened and Pluto rose up, grabbing the girl and abducting her into his underworld. He was completely in love with her, but in the obsessive, posessive way, so he didn`t ask for long.
NOw some versions of the myth say he raped her, others say he seduced her and she finally gave in to him.

However, Pluto really loved her and so he made her queen of the underworld, his equal partner!

Proserpine also couldn`t leave the underworld, cause she had eaten 6 (or 4) semen of the pomenagrate, and if you ate something in the underworld, you had to stay.
So she stayed with Pluto (well, at least for half the year; the other half she spent with her mother, who missed her so much).

And the interesting thing is, that this couple seems to be the only one in Roman mythology (except for Eros and Psyche), who were loyal and faithful to each other. Or at least both took care that the other didn`t pursue his or her romantic interestes too fervently, as both, Pluto as well as Proserpine, were pretty jealous and passionately in love with each other, after the very tumultous beginning.

One interpretation of the myth sais that Proserpine NEEDED to be abducted and needed to lose her innocence (virginity) to become a full woman.
The bond to her mother, which had just been too tight (Ceres and Proserpine had been inseparable), had to be broken, so Proserpine could become a woman of her own.

It`s actually a story about the growing up, and transformation from a young girl into a woman with sexual and emotional needs.

That gives a very interesting insight into the Proserpina-myth!

I just checked her placements in the Synastry with my latest BF, a tumultous, passionate love-hate-thing that lasted a year. I found some very strong connections (tight orbs 0-2 only):

His PROSERPINA exactly cj. his Venus (orb: 0.0)
- cj. my draco Venus
- sextile my ASC (exact)
- sextile my Mars
- sextile my Neptune
- trine my DSC
- trine my Venusia
- square my Valentine
- square my Part of Security
- square my Moon/Eros
- opposite my Sun/AS
>>> seems as if there was some mutual craving for such loaded intensity ... my own DSC involved, for instance? (jealousy, suspicion and obsession was well hidden first - but then became unbearable soon, one of the reasons that this relationship failed.)

My PROSERPINA
- cj. his Neptune
- cj. his Sun/Juno
- sextile his ASC
- sextile his own Name-asteroid in his chart
- sextile his Uranus
- sextile his Pluto
- trine his Saturn
- trine his DSC
- trine his Fanatica
- trine his Venusia
- trine his draco Venus
- square his Identity
- square his Actor
- square his Damocles
- opposite his Part of Discord
>>>> the squares and the opposition: somehow he messed it up? Wasn't able to act out the Proserpina-myth in a way that was satisfying for both of us?

Both our draco Venus'ses and Venusias are strongly involved - all in all Proserpina gives a convincing impression of the (dangerous/morbid/poisonous) passion between us! We both ended hurt in a way ... and even after 9 months after the break-up he's following almost every step I do in in the internet ... Just today I sort of "banned" him from a social-network-internet-thing where he had "stalked" me again in a way ... WEIRD guy - weird interest in me.... Me instead: I feel more and more bored and disgusted, both at the same time. Definitely don't wanna have him around anymore, not even in his digital form.

Alvarella,

that "stalker-behaviour" could also be a symptom of Nessus-aspects. Have you checked if his Nessus was making conjunctions, oppositions or squares to your personal planets, especially Venus?

Ah thank you for the explanation.

BTW I think (at least as of now) that Proserpine / Persephone is only important in relation to Pluto, Ceres and Adonis, as there are mythological connections there.

I`m not sure about aspects too other planets, ause PRoserpine is defined through her relations to other Gods / Goddesses, but not really a symbol on her own.

It`s not like Venus, who stands for beauty or love.
Proserpine stands for the transformed maiden, only in relation to Pluto.
Or she stands for the rejected lover only in relation to Adonis.
Or stands for the rival in love only in relation to Venus / Aphrodite.

Ah but of course you can prove me wrong.

If I am wrong, though, how would you interprete an aspect between Proserpine and Mars for example?

I can understand, though, how an aspect between Proserpine and Sun / Moon / Venus / ASC / NN or Karma can be interpreted.
In those cases these personal planets / asteroids would trigger the Proserpine symbol in the other person, and might embody Proserpine to that person.

Example:
A woman`s ASC or Sun is conjunct a man`s Proserpine; she would seem like HIS personal Proserpine.
But what does it exactly mean?

I mean a man`s Aphrodite conjunct a woman`s Sun - that is easy. She would be his Aphrodite, his ideal of feminity and he would be strongly attracted to her.

But Proserpine has so many roles: daughter, queen, the desired and abducted one.

What would see the man in a woman, whose Sun conjuncts hsi Proserpine?
Probably someone who is innocent and who he would desire?
Is that the most prevalent trait of Proserpine?

Ah I don`t know, just have been thinking aloud.

Interesting you picked out Mars as form just looking at tropical to draco synastry this is the most obvious cross aspect.

His DracoProserpine conjunct my tropical Mars (chart ruler)(4) wide

His tropical Persephone conjunct my Draco Mars (3)

Pluto is considered the higher octave of Mars so my guess is the energies expressed would simular although Mars and Perserpina have no relation.

Mars kinda reminds of the i don't what im doing or why but i want to do it version of Pluto.

As far as synastry goes i would say Mars could indicate a raw attraction and impulsiveness towards Proserpina.

EDIT
Not sure how Proserpina person would respond to the Mars person in this case..

I am also rather interested in this particular pairing, as I have come across this synastric chart.

The girl is on the inside, the guy on the outside.

(I hope this chart posting works)

<IMG SRC="

It's interesting to note that natally in each chart the folling occurs:

Her Proserpine conjuncts her Asc, Persephone her Sun in her natal chart,
while his Proserpine conjuncts his Descendant, and Persephone conjuncts his Venus natally. Could we thus conlclude that she identifies and as seen by others as being, or has at her core the myth of Persephone, while he seeks the same but through his partner = needs his partner to have that myth embodied?

Synastrically they have a down to a minute Pluto - Venus opposition, along with the angular persephone/proseprine/ activation.

When I drew this up I also included the hypothetical planet HADES,since he is just another version of Pluto, but for the purpose of this thread you can disregard it.

Will write more on what I have observed, if people are interested

Funny, how Greek and Roman names of gods are mixed in like that.
Pluto never had anything to do with Persephone. Hades did.
Proserpina or Proserpine is the Roman equvalient of Persephone.
FWIW

There's Pl[o]utoN - Πλούτωνας [Hades - Άδης] and Pl[o]utoS - Πλούτος [a semi-god, son of Venus]

For the first one, here's the explanation
:
Hades, god of the dead, was a fearsome figure to those still living; in no hurry to meet him, they were reticent to swear oaths in his name, and averted their faces when sacrificing to him. To many, simply to say the word "Hades" was frightening. So, euphemisms were pressed into use. Since precious minerals come from under the earth (i.e., the "underworld" ruled by Hades), he was considered to have control of these as well, and was referred to as Πλούτων (Plouton, related to the word for "wealth"), hence the Roman name Pluto. Sophocles explained referring to Hades as "the rich one" with these words: "the gloomy Hades enriches himself with our sighs and our tears." In addition, he was called Clymenus ("notorious"), Eubuleus ("well-guessing"), and Polydegmon ("who receives many"), all of them euphemisms for a name it was unsafe to pronounce, which evolved into epithets.

The above paragraph, if you think about it, kinda makes a connection between Taurus and Scorpio.

DD, I think this is my favourite myth as well!

In my relationship we have:

Synastry:

His Pluto sextile my Persephone (1)
My Pluto quintile his Persephone (0)

There aren't any aspects in either the composite or Davison...

The Romans transferred most of the Greek gods and goddesses into their own religion, and just gave them Roman names.
Basically they have the same meaning, but there are differences in details.

But I agree, staying in one mythology-circle (example: Pluto - Proserpine) would probably deliver stronger results as for example Hera-Jupiter.

Love,

have you checked the Draco`s for Pluto-Proserpine / Persephone-aspects?

The Draco-Draco synastry is the same since our North Nodes are just about identical

However, his Draco Persephone quincunxes my Natal Pluto.
