Something personal that shows you know who she is, emotionally, like a mug with something unique about her written on it, that kind of sentiment.

Oh come on now Randall...lol.

Family, home, something nostalgic, appealing to their emotions, something they will keep and treasure.

I'm Cancer rising and my baby sister made me a valentine long ago, with calligraphy writing and a wax seal on the letter. She wrote about how instrumental I have been in her life. I read it the other day, but forgot who gave it to me. When I saw the wax stamp I thought"whoever made this really loves me!" It was like 20 years since I read it...and I felt so freaking good to feel that feeling again.

Something personal. Something from the heart. That's a good gift for a cancer.

I don't know her very well, which makes this all the more difficult.

Then keep it light. Something to decorate their home. Photos frames, or a collage frame. That should do it.

Cancers like to feel protected, something around their body.

How about a cozy soft blanket or shawl she could wrap herself in while she studies or reads?

And some hot chocolate, a coupon for a *hug*, or, an invitation to come spend the night?

FOOD-- Dinner by a hearth/fireplace, candles. Surf-n-turf.
A place where a professional chef is present, and prepares and serves you a multi-course meal of favorite foods, wine.
A dance floor with slow-dancing and live-entertainment?

You gotta cuddle her, Goat man!!

We are not at the cuddling stage yet. I would merely say we are acquaintances on the cusp of friendship.

My Cancer friend really loves a good, homemade meal. Or food from her favorite restaurant. A gift card? Or a meal?

I like the restaurant gift card. I just need to find out what her favorite restaurant is.

Then just give her a really nice card.

That will provide her with proof that you have an interest in her life. Who can resist when someone took "thought" plus the action of their personal time (and finances) to celebrate her birthday by a nice card, that might be 'kept' as a memento later in their life?

Let things unfold by themselves.
If she's interested in you, you'll instinctually know what next steps to take towards her.

I love cards, my ex gave me a card with roses on our one month anniversary and he said he spent hours looking for the "right" card LOL, He has virgo rising.

The card was soooooooooo scorpio btw...it had a boomerang and said something along the lines he will give back whatever I give times 3 and I love you etc...

Ok, so I decided to just go ahead and ask her what she wants for her birthday. I walked up to her today and said, "Hey." She said "Hey" back. We have engaged in playful banter a lot in the past few weeks, but this seemed so forced that I froze up, and I just said, "Never mind." She replied with, "Ok." She seemed disappointed. I think she may have thought I was going to ask her out and didn't.

Randall! You make me laugh. If you DO want to ask her out, then her birthday is actually the perfect occasion! Then when you take her to dinner, a nice bouquet of spring/summer flowers will be all you need to “give” her. Just don’t get red roses!
