Thanks for correcting me about Sneaky! As I said, I fell asleep and was out of it, so even with a rewatch (which also happened when I was out of it; I fell asleep on about three rewatches before I finally made it through most of it), I missed that detail.

I still wonder, though, if there's a Queen-Dwarf connection.

I LOVE that crazy laugh (Rumpelstiltskin)!

It was also kinda sad for me, though, to see crazy!Rumples knowing what he had been like before and how he got there. It was so sad when I heard him talk about love being something that makes you sick, something that has killed more than any disease--it made me think of how he lost his wife and the child that he had raised. However, him saying that love was the most powerful magic made me wonder: could he possibly be redeemed by love, possibly as Mr. Gold in the real world--not even romantic love necessarily, but by any kind of love? Friendship? Love of humanity? Even coming to love himself/not hate himself for past cowardice? Could love heal Rumpelstiltskin? If he were to get stabbed and to die, could he experience losing the darkness of being the Dark One and have a few human moments again, and peace? Could he experience love in that state? Could Mr. Gold experience love?

I'm very,very mildly shipping Emma and Gold (I know, I know, but according to tumblr, I'm not the only one!), but I could see her being drawn to the stranger. He strikes me as annoying, though--intriguing, but he comes off to me as an odd mix of a 'beat' (as in, the 1950s subculture) plus a "bad boy". Have to say, though, that I was NOT expecting a typewriter. A shrunken head or something, maybe (like in the film "Seven"), but not a typewriter. At least he appreciates retro-communication devices. One coolness point from me.

I rewatched it too, when I was completely awake/coherent this time.

More and more, I'm really loving the depth that the show is giving its characters. I love how no character is completely good or evil and that no character is perfect. Initially, MM and David seem "Mary Sue"-ish to me, but, as they and Snow/Charming have been revealed, I'm finding that they are more balanced and not perfect, and I like that. Charming still bores me to death both as him and as David (the character, anyway; I think that the actor is playing the character as he's written and all, but I'm just not into that character--not saying that the actor is bad). Snow White, though, I really like her and MM.

Something else that I noted is that the story with Charming, the king (his adoptive dad) and Snow White is that it reminds me a lot of my favorite opera, La Traviata. In La Traviata, Giorgio, the father of Alfredo, asks Violetta to leave Alfredo because their relationship is causing a scandal and that is preventing his youngest daughter from marrying her fiance whom she loved, and Violetta does just that, pretending to be with someone else. (Not going to spoil the end for you). I couldn't help but be reminded of that when he forced Snow to leave Charming.

In the case of the king, though, his intentions weren't as good as Giorgio's. Giorgio was a meddler, but he did it purely out of love for his daughter, and he does apologize to Violetta later/regrets later what he has done. Charming's father strikes me as cold, pragmatic, and extremely selfish. He only cares about HIS needs and his desires for the kingdom. Isn't that, come to think of it, the only reason he wanted a son in the first place? I can understand him wanting the best for his kingdom, and I also understand that this is how many real-life royals were (and possibly still are in some places), but what gives him the right to use other people for that purpose? Then again, I suppose one could possibly argue that this is his (twisted) way of caring for his kingdom and his country, but it still doesn't make it right. As they say, "the road to hell is paved with good intentions". (I think that's becoming a big theme on this show--Rumpelstiltskin is a prime example of that).

Speaking of Rumples, yes, he is a VERY complex character---possibly THE most complex, and definitely the best-acted. He keeps me guessing more than any other character. And, again, now that we know his backstory, I can't help but be struck when we see him as he is in "7:15 a.m."; I can't help but remember what he was before. On the good side, he has more courage and doesn't let people humiliate him or walk all over him, and he does have an incredible amount of power and is no longer helpless, but, on the bad side, he traded his soul for that and lost any trace of gentleness or sweetness that he had before. And, too, I have the strong feeling that he definitely lost his son, especially given his comments on love. I think that both the loss of his son and the loss of his wife led him into that kind of thinking. I definitely feel that, whether the show depicts it in actual scenes or not, he almost certainly encountered them after he became the Dark One. I can't wait to see more and more of that character, and of Mr. Gold too. I really want to see what happens with him!

I'd also like to learn Red Riding Hood's backstory, now. What did Snow mean by "I helped you when no one else would"? In the real world, no one seems to have a problem with Ruby, and I haven't seen any tension/conflicts between Ruby and anyone, so I'm really curious.

I'm just hoping that ABC doesn't bungle this, like it did "Twin Peaks" and "My So Called Life" (though to be fair, there were others in addition to ABC to blame for the latter). I hope that they will give this show at least a few seasons (I'm hoping for at least four, but only if it's still good--if it's no longer good, then shorter) and that they will let the writers, actors, directors, and producers do their jobs and not meddle too much. Maybe that's not realistic, but I just really hope that the show is allowed to be the show and that it will be able to continue until all of the stories have been told properly.

If you ever get a chance to watch season 5 of "Angel", I love Illyria's episodes. Her lines are hilarious. She has no filter and says exactly what she's thinking (like one funny scene where she meets one member of the group, looks at him, and says, "This one is lusting after me", completely serious and numb too--just comes out and states it without any regard for social propriety. She does stuff like that a lot--very deadpan, not very emotional, no regard for social rules).

And yeah, I knew that she was a Sag, but didn't know that she had a lot of Cappy!

There is a LOT of cardinal influence on this show! As a cardinal sign, that makes me happy :-)
