I just closed it provisionally. It doesn't mean I have already made my decision at all. Truthfully, I expected a lot of positive responses to closing it. The huge support for keeping it is quite a big surprise to me. I thought most people felt it was the black sheep of Forums...the family member that you tolerate because you have to. As to consolidating Forums, that ain't gonna happen. Yes, we have several slow Forums. But to keep the Linda-entered theme here, that's just necessary. Some people just stay in one or more of those (probably because of their love for Linda). Each of the slow Forums is vital to the make-up of LL. I am pleased with all of them. The only one I originally questioned was Hearth And Home, but as it turned out, it was a great idea, since it has become the shout-out Forum. IP: Logged |

If you can do this, then I don't mind the loss of the forum. I had one thread there that was a compilation of things that inspired me or made me feel better, and I posted them for others.

I would have been very surprised if people wanted to close Sweet peas, as there are many people whom I know rely on it for comfort. ------------------ Passion, Lust, Desire. Check out my journal http://www.mychristianpsychic.com/

If you want me to express an opinion, please close it. This isn't a sex forum. There are many topics in there that are beyond the mainstream, and age enforcement is non-existent. Even if my teenage son were interested, I would absolutely prohibit him from this forum until he is over 18 years old. Even then.IP: Logged |

In that case, swift and effective enforcement is the solution.Your three strikes rule works well, but it must be enforced. Sex is one thing. There are other taboos that are variations around a theme, such as strangulation, domination, etc. The biggest red flag I have seen is: what causes grown men to desire young teens, posted by a 14 year old. That is stuff that not only flies above the radar and is most distasteful, but contains of all sorts of illegalities. IP: Logged |

We're not Linda, it reminds me of when people ask what have "Jesus done"?Also I dont know why people think 18 is some magical number that makes you suddenly mature and grown up, it depends on the individual person. I know a 16 year old whom I'd call a young woman (in apperance and personalitity) and anotehr who looks childish and acts very younger than me (about 12) IP: Logged |

Yes, it's like Lindaland's 8th house. =) I don't see why threads about sex can't just be closed. Also, to shut it down all at once deprives people of the opportunity to get closure on certain threads or finish their business. (Requesting transfer of certain threads, for example.) I hope Randall re-opens it, if only so we can wind it down more intentionally. IP: Logged |

It is mainly that being under age 18; you are a minor and interacting in some ways with folks over age 18; is illegal up to in some cases a felony.

I feel like the decision was already carried out, after only a few people had their say. It seems like their opinion carried the most weight; either that or you had already made up your mind, and this thread wasn't necessary. Either way, advance notice would have been really appreciated. To have this discussion after the fact leaves an off taste in my mouth: like I just wasn't around for the little tiny window of time when my opinion may have mattered.
Just a note to say it was closed first, before this thread was started. The decision was made and then asked for opinions. IP: Logged |

I think Randall has to feel that LL honors him and Linda. If something does not do this, it should go, but I think Sweet peas can be nonsexual, except for sexual abuse imo, anyway. People will try to fudge it with bondage things etc, but then Mods will have to use discretion or ask Randall what he thinks.------------------ Passion, Lust, Desire. Just do what you feel is right. The right decision is just plain right. It's not subject to democratic vote or dependent on majority decision. This is not a popularity contest. What is right reflects your vision and philosophy. and ultimately that of your conscience. It's no one else's business, least of which is mine. Just do it, whatever you choose. IP: Logged |

Also, there is no law against sex. There are multiple laws across many jurisdictions against drug use. Think it over. IP: Logged |

I have always wished for a forum dealing with the "darker" sides of the human condition...I agree, completely with limiting the sex thing, like I already said. Randall, I trust you to make the best decision for all! IP: Logged |

I guess I'm pretty neutral since I do like that forum but it's all to easy to type things out online and then I usually end up regretting 90% of the things I say in Sweat Peas lol, but other than that I don't really see a reason it should be closed.I'm not bothered by the taboos but I understand a lot of people are, but people worried about the age requirement need to realize that teenagers looking for info on sex (or drugs, or whatever) have plenty of less tasteful ways of finding it. Even if the topics get a little bit out there or it turns into arguing, I feel like at least there is the potential for some of that to be constructive, rather than some of the other sites you find that are completely uncensored and no one really knows each other.. Not to mention there are other forums on this board that often devolve into mindless bickering and have nothing to do with Linda or astrology.. Global Unity 2.0 for example. Which is supposedly about "The Aquarian Age of Peace on Earth, and Celebrating cultural, national, and spiritual diversity while uniting in Light and Love" Haha definitely not. I enjoy political debate as much as the next person but I won't even step foot in that forum because I know I would get far more worked up than by anything I've ever read in Sweat Peas.. But I'm not hating on G.U. because I understand when you have a forum dedicated to controversial topics, it really becomes impossible to draw a clear line between what's acceptable and what isn't, and at least those things are being discussed, and hopefully people are being exposed to new perspectives that might even teach them something or open their minds a little bit.. Anyway sorry for the random tangent, like everyone else has said just do whatever you think is best IP: Logged |

You could rename it to something like "The Dark Side" - and add stuff like this in description: depression, suicide, abuse, etc (YTA - are this type of discussion appropriate for teenagers like your son?).Randall, again - it's your forum, your rules... if you do something - explaining why you chose to do it should be enough. This topic "Should Sweet Peas In The Rain Be Closed?" - which comes of as a question - wasn't necessary, because everybody has his "personal opinion" - which apparently "it's based on their needs/wants" which sounds very selfish/self-centered... and i for one - approached this topic objectively - didn't speak in my behalf, since i wasn't that active around that section (astrology is still - my main interest) - yet, objectively speaking it's unfair to pick sides like this - because it's disrespectful for one side. Having a "Subcategory" about sex on the bottom does not make it a "sexual forum"... same as indulging the idea of talks about depression and suicide - doesn't make it a "suicide hotline forum". Either way - it's up to you, i don't care much about that section of the forum - for me, it's ok either way... was more about the people, some of the people i know (not personally - just from here, from this forum) who seemed interested in those type of subjects - all types.

i would also like to point out that we cant say for sure how linda would feel about the sexual talk in spitr because she is not here to tell us. most of us wouldnt be as open about our sexuality in real life, but we are here because we have anonymity. so how can we say for sure how she would feel about discussing these matters unless she was here posting with us. for all we know she might have joined in lol.
