People tell me I need to stop being so so hard on myself. I can't. People tell me that I need to love myself, I don't know how. There so much stuff I want to get rid of but I can't. That stuff is locked in you as protective mechanisms, survival mechanisms. It is not that you are an "ungrateful jerk" You got this way to survive pain. I've tried those affirmations but meh, never really worked for me because the negativity was so ingrained from 9 years of battering against my ego that deep down inside, I just couldn't believe what I was trying to tell me. Alas, I got a lucky break. One day I decided I need to do something, things need to change. That's when I stumbled upon a flyer of a self defense class. 1 year later, I look into the mirror and see a person I do not fully know (yet). A beautiful person who is smiling a lot and generally more open and outgoing to people. Meh, still a long road ahead to where I want to end up, but I've also learned to be more patient with myself and not expect results over night. Anyways, for me doing something I had always wanted to do but being talked out/denied because it's not something girls do and sticking with it week after week has been a huge help. IP: Logged

I realistically don't think change will happen. My mum made me go to a psychologist.. they all say the same thing. It doesn't work. I'm sick of being patient. I just can't do it anymore. I need to change now or change at my saturn return, SO I HAVE TO DO IT ALL NOW!!!!!!!!!!! or face tSaturn/tPluto cj Venus/Saturn...aka probably the worst transit I'm ever going to have in my whole life. I don't want to deal with all this in 7 years, I have better things to do with my sat return. By this I mean that you cannot throw shame and guilt on yourself IF you are stuck. You are stuck for some reason ,known or unknown(usually subconscious) Our minds build defenses for survival . These defenses come down ,slowly. Our depression,hopelessness, pain etc is what we have HAD to build so we can live. They are our "friends" in a strange sense,if you know what I mean. And no, it wasn't easy by any means. The first time I went to the trainings hall after the self defense class and summer break I almost puked because I was so afraid that they really wouldn't want me there. Even now, occassionally I get a little knot in the stomach. There's no magic formula or switch. I know the mountain of a task can seem overwhelming, but I stopped thinking of the whole and just concentrated on the next step. And started to be disciplined about small things I had wanted to change for a looong time already. Every so often when I think the previous one has become fairly abitual part of life, I'll add another ... and so on. Maybe in another year or two I'll be a semi decent housekeeper IP: Logged

It told me I must force myself to be real. I forced myself and it WAS a forcing. A year later,I feel much more real. The irony,as most things do have,is that I am OK. I was not "bad" as I was "taught" . Now,I am on to the next step.I am afraid ,again. I am doing a website. I am going to be going out in the world in a way I have not for many years. I was a stay at home mother so could escape in to the house,you could say lol I am resisting this move but forcing myself ,slowly to do the steps .
