It was the other brother who tasted the Cattails, though...

I'll say this: the best behaved sites with not much restrictions on freedom of expression had two things LL doesn't.
1) more mods for more eyes
That could get ugly but not when teamed up with
2) very clear, black and white rules and little left to mod interpretation.
I can expand on that later if needed.

To continue, rules of respect and such. Things that got these things before they started instead of coming in later, "oh, here's another thread that went to crap. Time to close it."

I recall one site that was full of young people, mostly guys and it was for the most part very well behaved. Things were cut early and they knew that they shouldn't push it.

I was there 4-5 years and it worked. Never had much of a problem. ME... who is known for starting things here.
I'm only not there because I no longer own what the site was about

These heavily moderated sites are like being at a stiff party. You are like in a tight corset. There is no freedom of emotion there. If people even look cross eyed at others, the Mods jump in. I can't be on a site like that. That is like what I grew up with

Randall has had LL for 12 years. Most people who leave come back, with the same or a new name.

Most sites don't last. What makes this site special?

Randall gives people freedom. However, when people get abusive, which they do, the thread is closed.

It is a balance. All the people crying for Mods on your back would not like it in reality imo

If you are the kind of person who needs a Mod on your back, you have not learned social and relating skills imo

You should take the opportunity to learn them now

See, I tend to think moderation here has been too heavy-handed for my taste. Or at the very least, very biased.

I'm nervous to post things sometimes if I disagree with someone. And sometimes I won't post something because I'm not sure what forum it should go in and I've seen threads I think make sense in a certain forum get moved somewhere else. I am WAY more reserved and quiet than I used to be.

I have double thoughts about even posting this but hey... YOLO and all. It's one of those kinds of days.

I was smelling my Butterfly Bush in the Rain this morning and thinking of something like that.

They both smell so sweet and fresh.

Truly, Linda wrote about the sorts of things we all think of.

I suppose that was very ironic for me to say considering I am a reincarnation believer.

This is funny. I write about abuse asteroids and sexual asteroids and I have pics of women in corsets and various things and I will get very angry Christian readers, sometimes, who take me to task for them. I tell them to go find another website lol

Nah.... Not where I've been.
I remember one guy telling a story about how he knocked out 5 of 6 girls because they jumped him outside of the bank. It was so funny, people laughed, joked about it but there was no disrespect or butthurt.

You can have fun and be expressive without the d-baggery.

Sex topics came up, the whole works and rarely did things get too carried away. Relationship advice etc.
It was a car site for a certain sports/fast car too so it was full of young men. You'd expect different but it was actually a nice place to be most of the time without the worry if the moderation would be biased or if someone would get nasty with you. It wasn't tolerated nearly as much as here.
Actually a few sports car sites as I've owned a few. One was kinda bad.
Due to the nature of the sites and who frequently went there they needed very clear rules and the mods had very clear direction from those rules.
I'm sure there was some trial and error but they did find a formula that works.
I hate to call you out Ami but I've seen you many times get your last jab in and close threads.
You know, just say that the content is out of hand and close it. Or another thing I saw and Randall does do this is give warning. Clean it up or it gets closed. I like that.
Often threads just magically close and depending on the mod it's done with no explanation.
I apologize if I seem "whiny". I'm heavy Virgo, I find flaws, Leo, I express them... Libra asc and Pluto... I'm obsessed with what is fair and just. I'm not perfect. Not close...
But I just think that this site needs some change and a few are more or less agreeing.

Mods I think need more direction and more accountability with a little less Grey area about what's allowed, how to handle it... When to do what, etc. I mean there doesn't need to be extremely precise lines drawn but it seems mods just do what they "feel" like willy nilly...

Some "mods" I'm not sure why they are mods. They have the title but don't seem to do much moderating or in fact jump right in the mayhem.

+1

To go off of your post above, I also noticed some mods close the thread when they get called out on their behavior. Easier to avoid accountability than own up to your behavior.

I think the site for the most part is welcoming and is beneficial. However, if we want to avoid the drama and hurt feelings, everyone has to do their part. It starts with the regulations and behaviors of mods.

I feel the same way. I hate it when I finally feel comfortable, and then I find that someone dislikes me after all. , or someone deliberately makes trouble where it hadn't existed.

I had two women be downright cruel to me, last Autumn, and before that, I had more trouble with people here, when I couldn't handle it, and hadn't even known what was going on. I keep bumping into walls socially, and I get more pissy than I ever used to, but I'm really grateful to those who are nice. With those where there is bad feeling, for whatever reason, I hope it passes. Too many things have changed for me in the past two years, though, so now I'm back to being quieter.
