No, I'm not talking about a man whom you love and are commitmented to; but this modern and very insane idea that women owe sex to any man that she is friends with or he did a favor for. This isn't a "old traditional Western value" they like to naively proclaim, but just made by socially-crippled painfully whiny men with extreme mental issues and no charm or grace.

So where did this come from? Birthed from the mental ill internet warriors who are shunned by everybody? Roosh V comes to mind, the spiritually empty man whose only facets can offer is being a sad braggart of sexual prowess.

You might find this of interested, on how movies train men to hate women (and do put a lot of entitlement into them, though that's not the only place they get it from):
http://www.cracked.com/article_19785_5-ways-modern-men-are-trained-to-hate-women.html

While a bit snarky it does link to real news stories and articles.

And I suppose it's worth pointing out that when I was 14 a friend of mine was giving a "cowboy porn novel" by her boyfriend (same age) on "what boys want." It was about a cowboy who beat up guys and had sex (graphically described) with their women (who got horny watching him beat up their guy). We'd take turns reading it aloud to each other and laughing at the absurdity of the male mind (not saying that romance novels aimed at women don't get equally absurd and I wouldn't hold it against boys who read it aloud to each other laughing, too bad girls don't do the same, actually).

Then we got to a very hard core scene...can't describe it on LL as I think even Kero would've hesitated before sharing it, it was that bad. We stopped laughing, became serious, and had an immediate discussion on setting limits with boys.

Though it should also be noted that many females fall into the same line of thought. I lost count on how many females (more than males actually) told me guys go crazy without sex and the solution to every guy problem was have sex with him (whether he needs more self-esteem or needs to get off his high horse, whether he's depressed or not taking life seriously enough, have sex with him, and frankly it could be summed up as "whatever the problem have sex with him"), though I learned not to listen to that after awhile. Some women's magazines seem to promote that line of thought, too.

And when a guy got upset that I didn't act like some blonde in a porno movie and stormed out it was his sister that berated me for hurting him like that, trying to make me feel guilty for essentially not jumping into the closet with him for a quickie (and I was a stuck up ***** for not doing so). I've heard of mothers who were even worse (like one guy who walked into the kitchen naked and his mom, also there, tried to get his girlfriend to "take care of him" and yelling at her as she left).

One thing that has teased my mind...

While I was out returning from shopping (on foot and by bus) 2 men, I'd guess about 20 and dressed in a certain casual way that I associate with those going to a nearby college, looked me over as I passed them (going opposite directions) and one said casually, "You just scream 'rape me.'" Though the one who said it had an edge to his voice that made me think he was amused (couldn't tell if it was troll amused or cruel amusement but it sounded mean rather than thoughtlessly immature) neither one laughed. And neither showed any sign of intoxication (though I only gave them an "instant analysis" as I hurried to put distance between us).

I wore casual clothes that included cargo pants (for the pockets which had stuff in them) and loose tie-dye shirt that covered over half my arms in addition to fully covering my breasts and covering most of my butt. I had my hair in a ponytail just to keep it out of my eyes (wondering if I should get another pixie cut). And I wore a backpack to carry things back home with. I don't think I could be mistaken for homeless and I'm not unique dressing this way. (Naturally I'm explaining this to immediately get past the asinine assumption I was wearing a miniskirt with my boobs hanging out, and the even more asinine assumption that would mean those guys should talk to me that way then, maybe they should for my not wearing a burka, too! Funny how nudist beaches aren't plagued by this.)

Part of me wishes I'd asked him what he meant (it was a public place in broad daylight after all...). Still, I doubt he'd have told me even if he knew. Maybe he has something like coprolalia that just makes him say inappropriate things. Heck, it could've even been a thoughtless joke from one who has no idea what he was cracking jokes of. One rape victim I know of had to have corrective surgery, including seeing her dentist as the guy who raped her knocked some of her teeth out, and he quipped upon one of her return visits, "Been raped again lately?" He seemed (so she told me) genuinely confused and disturbed how everyone (including his own assistant) reacted and that she left to find a new dentist, him insisting it was just a joke and no need to take it so seriously, women are so sensitive. Maybe the guy who said I was silently screaming to be raped had a similar clueless sense of humor and meant no harm. His "amused edge" sounded mean to me but maybe I misread him.

OTOH, suppose it was just as well. Being the USA he might've tried stabbing or shooting me had I asked (people get shot for telling people to pick up after their dog, after all, heck, for not putting in enough condiments at fast food takeout!). Or worse. I've asked a few who I thought might have insight into his mind but no one knows.

My Scorpio Jupiter would like to know.

Its a little more complicated then that. Its not a matter of "male entitlement", its a matter of biology. Men, especially men in their late teens to mid 20s , have a biological directive to f*ck and it stands to reason that we aren't happy when we aren't having sex. We cant just turn off our sexuality... Its creepy to me how some women think that men they aren't attracted to should just act like asexual eunuchs.

And I think it's disturbing that you think you shouldn't have to practice impulse control.

So the guy that just sexually harassed my cousin is allowed to do so because of biology? She said no and he forced himself on her. Not getting laid isn't an excuse to be an a@@hole.

The guy who recently sexually harassed me can do so because men want to f@@k?

Jesus.

KQ, great topic! The internet culture definitely plays a part. It does tie into patriarchal values of society, especially when male status is threatened. Turning women into sexual objects is the easiest way to limit her value and consequently roles in society. Media plays a big part too-both male and female roles are impacted.

I have more thoughts on this and will probably edit later.

Did I ever say that men shouldn't exercise impulse control? My problem with women's attitudes towards male sexuality is they think a man should swallow his feelings and emotions if his feelings and emotions don't line up with theirs... They think a man should just lose his romantic/sexual feelings and be happy being her asexual emotional tampon. I fully agree that a woman should have the right to say no to a man's advances... But if a man decides he isn't interested in being just friends he is suddenly a selfish scumbag who only wants sex.

I've seen that tumblr...so sad. To me it makes no sense that we say no to a man and it still isn't enough. You're in the friend zone? Tough luck, deal with it. No excuses.

Didn't realize giving our opinions was baiting. You realize comments like this only fuel the fire? Remember as a moderator you need to moderate, not play favorites at your convenience.

The both of us interpreted what AG said in that way. It happens- people read and evaluate things differently.

Just look at this thread ami... And any other thread on similar subjects... Its always woman=good man=bad...... Anytime I stick up for myself and my fellow man... I'm a misogynist.... The only way I could avoid being labeled a misogynist is if I was a bootlicking mangina. You know you live in a effed up world when sticking up for yourself or your gender is a hate crime and you get ridicule and hate for it. And what makes it even better is when these people try to tell you that you are privileged.

Honestly AG

These women who complain about woman not having rights in the US and all this cooked up crock really get me angry

Go to the countries where they genitally mutilate women and show how brave you are. THEN, I would have respect for you.

Disgusting.

So women who are raped are not worthy of your respect, nor people who are sexually assaulted, physically abused, shot and killed b/c some man was mentally disturbed.

I can't believe I am saying this on an Internet forum but you know the guy who threatened to rape me? I said no. You know what happened? I was physically beaten to a pulp- blood and bruises. I still have nightmares about this.

But according to you I am not brave because my genitals haven't been mutilated. I'm very lucky to make it out of that situation-not everyone does. Marginalizing women's feelings only perpetuates this cycle.

This is why I am no longer a Christian, sick of this hypocritical behavior. Randell, can you please explain to me why this mods behavior is okay?

What does this even mean??? Are you wishing ill on the women of this forum for wanting to be treated as equals by men and not just a hole to be poked on? Because our genitals are not mutilated in this country it's ok for men to treat us as objects? I don't follow your "logic".

AG feminism and egalitarianism are 2 different things. Read up on it.

I too was in an attempted rape situation with a gun pointed to my throat. I said "not gonna happen, you'll have to kill me first."
Well I managed to get away without being raped but not before being choked and beaten black and blue.

No one is saying rape is OK. No one is saying rape is not a terrible crime. Did I say that? Show me where I did? Show me where AG did? Don't put words in my mouth or his.

I am saying that I am sick of all this petty complaining about women's rights/ discrimination when you live in a country where there is none to little. Grow up and visit a country where there is real discrimination!
