I find that I have to lie. Evasive answers only make people more determined to find out the "truth".

Why would you have to lye?
If it's true, you're however old, why would you conform when you can explain?
Everything happens because of something.

Birthdays are no great loss. Remember your first birthday party? Everybody else was much more excited than you were. I find I genuinely forget how old I am much of the time.

I quietly celebrate mine, but I celebrate.

Not to me, it doesn't. I know the number of sunrises and sunsets one sees has nothing to do with aging. But you should do what works for you.

You're welcome. The day you were born into this Earth School is very important, since it's the day your Natal Map was snapshot in the sky...but the number of trips the Earth makes around the Sun truly have no bearing on aging, but that you think it so.

The preoccupation with age is amusing. One of the first things people ask is,"How old are you?"
For some perculiar reason knowing your age gives them an idea of how "mature" you are. They stereotype ages into little groups of progessions.

Again, chronological age, whether you're older does mean wiser, nor does being younger mean that you're absolutely clueless about life.

Someone mentioned that being vague makes for more questions..I agree. From personal experience there were a couple of people who got quite p***** off when I wouldn't disclose my age. Like what's the big deal? So now, I just tell them the age I think they'd guess and then they're content. The very rare occasions when I did disclose my true age I was accused of lying because I looked way to young. Go figure!

If you are into astrology you will probably want to keep your birthdate but add a different year. Changing the date would turn you into a completely different person LOL! It wouldn't work with Chinese astroglogy, which goes by the year.

I just make up an age to satisfy people. When you don't tell them, they only persist.

if the person asking is just an aquaintence i generally start by reminding them how rude it is to ask... if they persist i counter with "how old would you like me to be?"... if that doesn't work i will point blank tell them they have no need to know as it isn't likely to give them valid insight into my being...

if i know the person better... well, i usually go thru the above but with a charming smile on my face rather than a pointed stare

"Life is like a box of crayons. Most people are the 8-color boxes, but what you're really looking for are the 64-color boxes with the sharpeners on the back. I fancy myself to be a 64-color box, though I've got a few missing. It's okay though, because I've got some more vibrant colors like periwinkle at my disposal. I have a bit of a problem though in that I can only meet the 8-color boxes. Does anyone else have that problem? I mean there are so many different colors of life, of feeling, of articulation...so when I meet someone who's an 8-color type...I'm like, 'hey girl, magenta!' and she's like, 'oh, you mean purple!' and she goes off on her purple thing, and I'm like, 'no - I want magenta!'"

You can stay around 30 for quite a while without raising eyebrows. A singer on the X-Factor is almost 60, but he was telling everyone he was 30 until he got on the show, and then everyone found out he was lying.

I see nothing wrong with saying what the day is. But one could be cryptic and say that's a secret. Or just say you don't celebrate.

What you think of your birthday is what counts. If it bothers you, don't share it.

Just to remind you, this thread was about the necessity of lying v the need to regard oneself as a truthful person
