People will know you are Christians by your love. No one is perfect, but when we are Christians, we have the Holy Spirit inside us. God is pure love. That should show itself, as it flows from the inside out.

An interesting thing is that some homeless Christians decided I (despite my professed agnosticism) was Christian by my love (or "my fruits") even more than a really holier than thou preacher who looked down on others (and they didn't consider him to be a Christian). It does change things significantly (and potentially revolutionary) when one is measured by their acts more than their stated affiliation (and that's not just true of religion, Christianity and otherwise).

I vaguely recall someone telling me about The Chronicles of Narnia that a character in the series who followed the evil ruler but did so believing her good was actually following the good leader, he just had the names confused. (CS Lewis, btw, the author of this series was a popular writer of Christian theology which is why I mention it.)

I just had an experience confirm the Bible and God to me. It was very simple but showed me how God wants us to live.
I ordered a product from a person and paid for it. The person was having a hard time figuring out how to send it etc and was very stressed. I knew the person and actually bought the product as I knew she needed the fee.

I said, "Keep the money. Don't worry about sending it to me"

She was so grateful and my heart got such a boost by being able to give to someone and ease her burden.

Hate kills you.

God wants us to live in love because it blesses us. If you see love, you see God.

‘Lord, is it then true… that thou and Tash are one?’ The Lion growled so that the earth shook and said, ‘It is false. Not because he and I are one, but because we are opposites.

For I and he are of such different kinds that no service which is vile can be done to me, and none which is not vile can be done to him. Therefore, if any man swear by Tash and keep his oath for the oath’s sake, it is by me that he has truly sworn, and it is I who reward him. And if any man do a cruelty in my name, then it is Tash whom he serves and by Tash his deed is accepted. Dost thou understand, Child?’ I said, ‘Lord, thou knowest how much I understand.’

But I said also, ‘Yet I have been seeking Tash all my days.’ ‘Beloved,’ said the Glorious One, ‘unless thy desire had been for me thou wouldst not have sought so long and so truly. For all find what they truly seek.’

For me, and my Faith, when I feel out of sorts, and need to "feel" the universe/existence, the Divine:

Psalm 147:

"He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name."

Or:

"saiah 40:26 Lift your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one, and calls them each by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing."

I lay down in a field and consider the starry sky and ponder, and "feel" what love is and the reality of no matter how terrible things may look at the time, there is a Consciousness that cares for even me.

I am inspired to share one of Gods` gifts of Love.

THE ANGELS OF THE SEVEN PLANETS,
_bearing the Star of Bethlehem._

_The Angels._ The Angels of the Planets Seven
Across the shining fields of heaven
The natal star we bring!
Dropping our sevenfold virtues down,
As priceless jewels in the crown
Of Christ, our new-born King.

_Raphael._ I am the Angel of the Sun,
Whose flaming wheels began to run
When God's almighty breath
Said to the darkness and the Night,
Let there be light! and there was light!
I bring the gift of Faith.

Gabriel._ I am the Angel of the Moon,
Darkened, to be rekindled soon
Beneath the azure cope!
Nearest to earth, it is my ray
That best illumes the midnight way.
I bring the gift of Hope!

_Anael._ The Angel of the Star of Love,
The Evening Star, that shines above
The place where lovers be,
Above all happy hearths and homes,
On roofs of thatch, or golden domes,
I give him Charity!

_Zobiachel._ The Planet Jupiter is mine!
The mightiest star of all that shine,
Except the sun alone!
He is the High Priest of the Dove,
And sends, from his great throne above,
Justice, that shall atone!

_Michael._ The Planet Mercury, whose place
Is nearest to the sun in space,
Is my allotted sphere!
And with celestial ardor swift
I bear upon my hands the gift
Of heavenly Prudence here!

_Uriel._ I am the Minister of Mars,
The strongest star among the stars!
My songs of power prelude
The march and battle of man's life,
And for the suffering and the strife,
I give him Fortitude!

_Anachiel._ The Angel of the uttermost
Of all the shining, heavenly host,
From the far-off expanse
Of the Saturnian, endless space
I bring the last, the crowning grace,
The gift of Temperance!

(_A sudden light shines from the windows of the stable
in the village below._)

Henery Wadsworth Longfellow.

The thing about God is that people should see him shine through YOU. It is not enough to read about him in books or quote ad infinitum.

Do you have God's love inside you? Does it radiate out?
People will know you from your fruits. That is how people know you are a child of God. That is what MAKES you a child of God, in fact.

I hope you are being sarcastic...

The word angel in the bible and I'm taking English, does not appear in Biblical text until the 1500's AD.

Before that it was Greek (Angelos) [Angelos (Ἄγγελος was a daughter of Zeus and Hera ,(mal'akh) in the Hebrew Bible (Tanakh); a similar (Malāīkah), is used in the Qur'an, Latin (Angelus) <-- Romans are so lazy, just changed one letter.

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (February 27, 1807 – March 24, 1882)... yea way to predate the Greeks there Henry

The Greeks ofc, likely stole the Pleiades's from Mesopotamia. That still leaves Henry as regards the English version of the bible, ( in reference to his Mythical version of the 7 heavenly bodies) up a greek creek without a paddle.

Bah!

Ofc all that being said, I kinda like the poem, just not a fan of the archetypal usage/stealage in this religious case... hence my bastardization comment.

Interestingly enough, every country in the Middle East was thought to have a Angel assigned to it at one time, and it was a very very old belief.

The OT alludes to this in the story of Daniel/Michael/the Prince of the kingdom of Persia as found in Dan 10:13

Any chance you folks can post what your sun sign is? I know Ami's, Pixie's, and Linda's...the rest I don't know.

Especially when I get into theological discussions, I'm very curious about sun signs...if you care to oblige me, please?

I'm a Capricorn.

I believe that God is love, and love is God, but I also believe that neither Christianity, Judaism, or Islam teach that comprehensibly. Instead they teach a paradox, that you must love God, call him by the right name ONLY (that is the most important thing to do in this life...get God's name RIGHT!)...or you will suffer.

To me, Christianity is all based on the ego.

You cannot just Be, in the Buddhist sense, because you cannot separate yourself from your ego at all, because it's under constant surveillance by God, and you better tend to it all the time. "Mindlessness," just breathing and being empty of thought, becomes risky in the Christian scheme of things. What part of "pray without ceasing" did you not understand?

Judgement Day is when your ego meets God and gets torn apart for being an ego. Why did you have such a big ego? Because the Bible told you to, frankly.

Christianity is a substitution of your spirit for God's. He comes to live inside you, in an actual way, not metaphorical.
Then, you can show Him to others, as he is inside you.
Your ego( body and personality/the flesh) remains with you until you die. Only then, do you shed it.
Your spirit becomes totally new at the New Birth. That is what the New Birth/ Born Again is!

That sounds nice, Ami, but I don't see how doctrine comes into play with any of that.

Religion = magical incantations to summon God to inhabit one's body?

Doesn't seem to work like that.
