Also curious about this......

And if women were considered equal to men;
women would not need to fight for rights et cetera.

So what do you feel are the issues women should drop?

Also would you please define what a feminist is in your opinion;
and why you have this problem:

Wow!
Sounds rather sexist/chauvinistic
to me.

PS.
Apologies for the thread segue.

You are never going to get a girlfriend or long lasting meaningful relationship with those underlying thoughts/beliefs aquaguy.

It's going to be a long frustrating road for you until you resolve them. I also wonder why you are posting here and not more on forums full of guys (not men!) that hold similar beliefs (maybe you do, and that's where you get your best material/brainwashing).

Do you love to try to irritate women or are you sincerely looking to grow up and open your mind? I'm not so sure yet....

Women sense anger, especially from men who don't respect them. That might be why you seem to be wearing a chick repellent all the time.

well one thing i have a big problem with is how women are outnumbering men significantly when it
comes to enrollment numbers in college and instead of focusing on getting more guys into college or trying to figure out why guys arent going to school in the first place we are focusing on getting more women
into the only majors where men are outnumbering
women. thats a big problem in my opinion. also you just illustrated another reason why I have big time problems with feminism. Any man who has any disagreements with women or feminism is automatically labeled a misogynist, that is also a big problem.

Disagreeing with feminism doesnt automatically= disrespecting women. The reason i disagree with feminism is because I respect women and men. I dont believe in the notion of a patriarchy or male privilege because they dont exist.

Why should something like women outnumbering men in enrollment in college scare you? If anything, that will end up bettering your life.

guys arent going to school in the first place we are focusing on getting more women

If as you say, guys your age are more focused on "getting more women", that is something you should maybe take up with your fellow guy peers and not us.

I'm just sorry you think of life in so black and white, men and women and not just people to people.

I hope you can resolve that someday.

its not that it scares me. you completely missed the point. my problem is the fact that we arent trying to figure out why the number of men in college is declining.instead they are now focusing on getting more women into the only areas where men outnumber women (engineering, science etc)

Maybe let us take the reigns and take a breather for a bit then. Let us show you how it's done.

We'll pick up the pieces and make a better world for all. We'll show you how it's done.

Lord knows the world needs help right now more than ever.

^btw you misquoted me and took that entirely out of context, probably on purpose. I actually said and meant " Instead of trying to figure out why guys arent going to school we (society)are focusing on getting more women into the only majors where guys outnumber women."

Also the balance of power has never been men vs women, its been the rich vs the poor. the average man has never had any substantial power or privilege. thats why the notion of a patriarchy is a bunch of bologna

Actually, I didnt at first. Then later realized it was you typing from your phone (after I already replied) and that's why it was all jumbled and mis-puncuated. Then thought the slip up was kind of funny.

So, chill. I didnt notice it right away.

The troll thing might p!ss people of your age off, but since I know I am not one, it doesnt really get me riled up, so you can quit it with that immature bs now.

BTW, your inability to laugh off things like that is also unattractive and immature. Don't get bent out of shape about things like that so easily. It might help your chances with females too.

No one wants to be with someone who whines over the little things and can't find humor in them. And no one want's to be with a "man" who acts like a little boy and is so touchy about everything, especially on the topic of women. I feel sorry for you because you seem to have so many open wounds.....even when people aren't trying to be mean, but instead being lighthearted you can't even take it that way or see it for what it is. It's got to suck not to be able to laugh easily.

I knew guys at your age who were grown men in that they knew the divinity and value and beauty in every woman and they treated them with the utmost respect....because they were real men themselves or in touch with that part of themselves. They knew they were on equal footing and were able to make that deep connection of friendship and love, alone - seperate, or at the same time with one woman or a female friend, or sister or mother. I wonder if you will ever understand that. I know you have not had the best female role models, but that should not hinder you for the rest of your life. Maybe only after you are able to fall in love with a woman completely you will realize. Until then, you will remain the same person you are now - always wanting to argue with them and look down on them. I hope someday you are blessed with a relationship that teaches you otherwise and helps you become a real man.

aquaguy, have you noticed that there are more women than men in the world? and that even now it takes "concentrating on getting more women into" areas dominated by men to even out the numbers in those classes? maybe THAT is why, not overbearing feminism but an attempt to make a more realistic balance in school, as in life?

you are right that poor men are relatively less powerful than rich men, but maybe you have come across, say, the musical/movie Oliver!...about dickensian england and the underclasses...and noticed that "little men" tend to lord it over their women more than "big, rich men"? the more powerful a man is, the less he feels he has to "be above" others, especially his female partners and associates. not talking about the kind of money-power stuff that some men use to prop up their egos, but real, internal power, which is just as available to poor men as rich ones...

but i haven't noticed that anyone gains any power by resenting that of others

Then you must not laugh much! LOL

I don't like having words put in my mouth either, or some young guy who keeps telling me (and other women saying the same thing) that things are going over my head.

It still makes me laugh though! I can still find humor in it and not hate you or shriek "TROLL" at you.

btw No need to correct me. I'm never wrong. I am a woman afterall.

back on topic..

as to the use of the C word, in england it is more often used to disparage MEN than women. the D word(or P word or the OTHER C word) or whatever male-part word people are talking about...is also used AT men. funny that...

i have always found it strange that the F word is used to express anger or frustration. you would think it would be a "pleasure" word, wouldn't you?

but personally, i just find it gets boring - especially in writing - when people don't exercise their vocabulary skills and make use of the amazing wealth of expression available to them, but rely on "bad language" and other overworked phrases that don't lend any colour to the conversation..

Are people in the UK more free with their swear words, just like people in certain areas of the US?

I don't think i've heard anyone since junior high school use the C word, but they let the F word fly like it was nothing.

I notice it less in the south. And I've not noticed usage of swear words an indicator of a person's intelligence, but more of where they came from or how colorful they choose to be with language.

People who flinch or gasp at the F word are probably not people I could hang around with much. It really does show alot about a person - whether you are using it, or hearing it and how you react.

Perfect example of this is Teresa Caputo - the Long Island Medium
http://tlc.howstuffworks.com/tv/long-island-medium

One of the things I love about her is she doesnt hold back and there's lot's of "bleeping" going on, but she's a lovely person. She's talking like how she grew up. It's not a bad or offensive thing ..... or not to people up there anyway. The F word is nothing and not looked at as offensive or vulgar. It's normal.

So, yeah, it's easy to forget that people from other areas of the world almost fall over in their seats if you use a swear word.....

btw, i hear she's been renewed for another season.

I think humor is an issue for people with that.

All said, you are probably doing alright.
