X - I really like "In On The Kill Taker" and "End Hits". "Red Medicine" is brilliant to listen to but you have to be in the right mood. "Repeater" is OK too.

American Hi-Fi kinda sounds like them, the singer sounds like Guy but the guitar work is to straight-laced and soft, sounds more like Jet.

Still Guy is so sexy when he sings, ugly to look at but his voice is very sexy. I once corresponded with Ian McKaye via email too, back in my younger days

I'm sorry I'll just never like stuff like GnR, Def Lep, Poison, Metallica. Ugh, those little zit-faced teen boys with their stupid faded black metal t-shirts and the bogan true rocks girls with joozy fringes, tights and silver jewellery.

And Xodian thanks his lucky stars that he didn't decide to invite his GF on the forum yet Lol! This thread would have turned into a gladiatorial arena filled with sharpnels of broken Electric Axes and Drum sticks Lol!

Sexiest lyric ever:

by U2 - actually, oddly enough, I'm listening to it right now on my iPod.

Beatitful Day - "touch me, take me to that other place".

Another fave is Lifehouse, song: Hanging By A Moment. "Forgetting all I'm lacking, completely incomplete, I'll take your invitation, you take all of me, now". And "I'm standing here until you make me move".

PA - I'm not sure if they were "depressed" in Birm. I remember reading somewhere that the reason why they dressed the way they did was because there was only one decent clothes store so they bought clothes from it. Whether New Romantic clothes were in style already in London I don't know. New Romantics were devotees of Roxy Music and Bowie and other glam acts so it was just a continuation of that. I know however later on that DD did copy Japan and Japan is credited for the first New Rom album. Also have a look at David Sylvian, N Rhodes completely ripped off his look!

Mick Karn to the right, possibly one of the best bassists ever...

Xodian - I suspect you and GF don't remember the late 80s, unfortunately I do. It was bad sh*t. That is why grunge was so powerful to our generation, it completely destroyed insipid imitation LA glam rock. Kurt shoved it up Axl and Kurt will be remembered in time. ALso that's why rap was so big as well, it was a backlash. I think the metal stuff that is going today with teenagers is very different to what we had, the kids look completely different in dress and style as well.

Ah 23; Ultimate Rock diva! Lol! Oh I do love gig related stories; Really brings out the wild side in a persona Lol!

Unfortunately, I don't have many stories. The last gig I went to (with the exception of AC/DC last night) was the Rolling Stones SARS Jam.

The sexiest lyric without doubt is Lounge Act, Nirvana:

"They'll go out their way to prove that they smell her on you."

So primal.

I imagine that R Stones would be quite good live.

PA: U2 can very well be the greatest Rock Band in history Lol! (Sorry Beatles... You're not it anymore .)

23: Lol! I was born in 1984 so I kinda skipped over the Grunge revolution. Oh yeah... Mullets were big but as a Kid I never could tell why... Now, looking back at the Grunge era... I know Lol!

Mullets was the metal head bogan uniform. Everything had to be black, black metal t-shirt with black skinny leg jeans, druggie shirts and ripples shoes. Bad skin a necessity and skullits quite common. The guys were all pencil thin with ciggie packs under their t-shirts on their shoulders. Their chicks were fat all dressed in black with the uniform druggie shirts, bleached blonde hair with roots, lots of silver jewellery and blue eyeliner. Growing up where I grew up, it was a haven for this people. They were the nasty bogans that persisted through the 90s not realising that the world had moved on from their manure.

Here's another one of my personal opinions that may make me unpopular, etc, but I've always thought The Beatles were over-rated.

I am a HUGE Rolling Stones fan. Love them, love them, love them.

I think Beatles are very good because of their simplicity and they were the first to set that style but I've never really gotten into them.

And unfortunately it still hasn't changed *cough*Emo*cough.* What I do not get though is the absurd commentary of people who might not know of a particular rock style in grouping all given punk, Hard Metal, etc. styles in one category and labling it all with the same stigma of ultimate punk.

LOL 23.

Mullets are THE WORST fashion statement ever. Even Flock Of Seagulls and even Duran Duran with their colours and styles were better than any mullet. NO-ONE looks good with mullet. Hate them. Actually, I find them hilarious - always make me laugh. Why do women get them?

Grunge was powerful to New Wave like Punk was to Disco, etc. But the funnything with punk was that while they were knocking the oldies they were really the front runners. The Who were punk even before The Sex Pistols were out of nappies.

EDIT: I said New Age instead of New Wave.

JT was tolerable with one but probably better without one, I think he's mildly embarrassed about it now. However the worst onces were always the blonded headed guys - Simon Le Bon, Jason Donovan, flapping in the wind. Apparently favoured by football players because it flaps in the wind and makes them look aerodynamic.

Emo is something very different in look X. It does however borrow some dress looks from metal boganry. Anyway, there was no 3/4 fringes or piercings when I was a kid - just the cartiledge or the multiple if you were game.

As much as I'd like to blame David Spade for many things, somehow I don't think he's responsible that far back into history.

However, Ralph Fiennes might be another story..........

JT - Roxy Music, Bowie, Chic (listen to Chic's bass line, JT directly copies from it), Japan.

PA:

They lost their way. And like many classic bands, internal glory hogging and rivalry dissolved what could have been a smooth transition on to newer generes.

But hey... U2 is here so I don't care .
