fayte,

You should start your own thread.

Or your own religion.

quote:
YOU, who trouble yourself with religion,
do not wonder if there was a Jesus,
or if Jesus was "the Christ" (whatever that means),
or if Jesus Christ was the only Son of God,
or if Jesus Lives and is Listening with us now.

That is to miss the point.

Ok...
I will go away from your thread.
Hint taken.
I shall, debunk the bunk elsewhere.

Fayte, I M going to say this as nicely as I can...

your ego is getting way to big...everything is about you, everything you write is about you..
and all the information you give is from books
and the writings of Man, big mistake....
what do you find when you go within...to the
Truth with GOD????

Religion is like the fashion. One man wears his doublet slashed, another

lace, another plain; but every man has a doublet. So every man has his religion.

We differ about trimming.

John Seldon, Table-Talk: Religion (a. 1654)

Who am I? Why was I born? Does my life have a purpose? Does the world have a purpose? When I die will I no longer exist? What is the meaning of it all? Man has asked these questions almost from the beginning of his history, and for just about as long he has looked to religion for answers to these questions.

It is hard to define religion. Ten different people will give ten different meanings. For one person, religion is a complete way of life, determining what he eats, who his friends are, whom he marries, even his daily schedule. For another, religion means going to church or synagogue or temple and observing religious holidays. For another, religion is simply a way of living in the world; for another it is a belief in God. For still another, it is not a belief in God but a feeling of oneness with the universe. And for some, religion is just something practiced by other people, something that other people need to provide meaning for their lives.

Even those who would not call themselves religious agree that religion has played an important role in man's history. It has given mankind some of its greatest heroes and some of its greatest tragedies. The history of religion, like the history of man, is one of love and pride and joy and sorrow and pain and greed. As long as man survives, so will religion.

I wonder at what point in his evolution man was able to ask this question. At what blip, what mutation in the genetic code, did the brain form enough complexity to ask such questions? Or did they slowly emerge over time?

Does a chimpanzee, who can study itself in the mirror and recognize its own reflection, wonder these same things?

HSC,

quote:
fayte,

You should start your own thread.

Or your own religion.

I don't think there's anything wrong with Fayte's post. She should be able to express her theories without you suggesting for her to start her own thread.

BrightStar........
That is a lovely thought.
But no...
HSC and I have gone around before.
Seems he resents my presence on his threads, But has no issue with going on and on when he posts on threads I start, and or were dedicated to me.
I do not "kick" him off mine.
I have in the past enjoyed talking with him very much.
But this new improved version of HSC is not the Diogenes type personality he was.
This post is not intended as a slam on HSC. But there has been a personality change from the HSC I knew a few years back.
That HSC. was not rude nor arrogant nor blatantly messianic.
And now as a new moderator he needs to show more tolerance. I do not feel I said anything that warranted being told, even somewhat tactfully, to leave this thread.

HSC and I get along then do not, then get along again. http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/002543-2.html http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/002543-3.html http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/002543-4.html
On a thread dedicated to me I never told him to leave even though
he was somewhat hijacking it. http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/002232-2.html http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/002232-3.html http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/002232-4.html http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/002232-5.html http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/002232-8.html
The pages of that thread not so full of HSC speeches and all. http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/002232.html http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/002232-6.html http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/002232-7.html http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/002232-9.html

PS. Your attention to me seems out of place for a real newbie.
Surprised you are not razzing me about Aquarians this time.
Whoever/whatever you are.

It was hypocritical of me to try to redirect you in that way, fayte. It's true, I often post according to my own agenda in threads that are directly opposed to it. I should not begrudge you that same right. I was just really frustrated, because the whole point of this thread is to get at the truth, not the facts. I think the proper sphere of Jesus is religion, not history. The words attributed to him are valuable because of the universal truths they indicate. I wanted to focus on those truths, and on the essence of the Christ. Just because the so-called authorities have screwed his message up, and surrounded it with so much historical misinformation, and dogma, does not mean that I want to wade around in their mess, trying to clean it up. I would rather respond to the message of Jesus as it was intended to be heard, as if it were the year 70A.D., and all this worldly nonsense had not yet begun to monopolize our attention. I do think that what you are doing is admirable, and it also has its place. I think we are on the same side, but, in different departments. We could accomplish a lot more without stepping on each other's toes.

A change has taken place in me. I am honoring my voice and my vision in a way that many people will find excessive. But I believe that taking myself this seriously is what is going to get me to the top of the heap, eventually. If I do not take myself seriously, who will? I am not always going to be satisfied posting on message boards. This is meaningful to me as a platform to speak my peace, a place to be challenged by other points of view, and to refine my own abilities, and prepare me for my mission. It may sound arrogant to say that I have a mission, but it is not. It is just a very healthy, very strong pride and faith in my abilities. If you think message boards, all you ever get is message boards. If you think immortality, you might just get it. That's where I am coming from.

But I know I am a work in progress. Plutonian and Uranian energies have been building up in me recently, and I am still learning how to work with them. I do not always treat people with the courtesy and humility which I admire in others, and would often like to express myself. I am confused about a lot of things. When my voice was meek, few people paid attention to my words. When I began to provoke people a bit, suddenly, all the champions came out of the woodwork to try their steel against me. And that is just the way I like it. If I am a turn-off to others, that is okay. I am not here to cut and chew their meat for them. Someone else will come along and baptize them with water. I've got a fire to spread. That's, at least, where I am coming from right now.

peace,
HSC

We are ALL works in progress HSC.
To our spiritual evolutions!
I too am on a mission. I am just not going to talk about it here.
What I do is more important than my being known.
I shall continue to quietly do what I do.
Thank you for the well thought out reply.

Hey TINK!
One day at a time.
Savoring the good bits and not letting the
bad bits get me down.
My husband and I were laughing last night because the entire last two weeks have "read" like some crazy chaotic novel.
We agreed, we definitely do not get bored! While we were having plumbing disasters all over, we discovered that the previous owner had used "CAR BRAKE LINE" for the water to the kitchen sink!
And right after my husband was sitting down to recover from a root canal, the washing machine faucets blow and another old pipe going to it!
So we were up to 4:30 am doing plumbing and him with a hurting jaw.
Right before that someone shot out our windsheild. Luckily no one was hurt.
Then when I discovered I could not recite my birthdate and a few other weird things happened;
it seems that a few weeks ago I had experienced another stroke.
I am recovering,
My sense of humor has actually improved!
And then when trying to start a garden....
We discovered that the previous owner had buried a transmission, a gastank, an axle and several other pieces of a 1950s car in the yard!
Oh it gets better!
We have squirrels in our living room ceiling!
And we finally got water to the washing machine but nowhere else yet.
Soooooo......
Taking sponge baths(hee hee hee, doing each other!) with "cold" brrrrr water from the washing machine!
Then I was eating olives and busted two fillings and broke a tooth.
And the boxsprings on the bed broke.
Oh there is more, but you get the idea.....
~"sigh"~
First we beat our heads against the insane chaos of it all they laugh ourselves silly.
And my mother-in-law is in the hospital again. But like she said..."hey! They caught it in time!"
And Auntie Trish is fighting her second breast cancer and getting remarried during her second baldy stage. And as she said, "What? I should wait for my hair to come back?"
Everyone has troubles.
Everyone has blessings!
And so life goes on.....
Maybe we should write a story of our adventures with our old house and our other struggles while attempting to fix the mess, and while offering support to ill family and friends.
Never a dull moment!

PS. And even with all the chaos we meditate and work on spiritual matters and talk everyday.
One should always find time for all that.

Do you remember yours is actually titled "Fate"?

To me it represents strenth, resilience, natural beauty, and mystery, that grows out of a stark, harsh environment. And other things... but I have a Mercury thing going on so it will have to do for now. And they say a picture paints a thousand words anyway...
