I didn't realize his birth time was set for 12, so we won't be able to count the houses in his chart but I did notice his Eros falls in your 12th.

Also, you two share a Mercury/Neptune conjunction on your Ascendant, being squared by Jupiter in your 3rd. What are the orbs for these?

Ian also has a Sun/Neptune conjunction, Neptune is prominient in his chart.

In the draco, his Saturn and Spirit both fall in your 12th and are conjunct your Amor.

His Mercury is on 9°38 Sagittarius.
My Neptune is on 9°56 Sagittarius.
my True Node is on 10°09 Sagittarius
my ASC is on 7°01 Sagittarius

squaring
my Jupiter on 11°12 Pisces
my Ceres on 9°37 Pisces

His Sun-Neptune-conjunction on 16 and 17 Sagittarius is opposing my Karma on 16 Gemini, sextile my Moon on 17 Aquarius, quinkunx my Saturn on 17 Cancer and square my Juno on 17 Pisces.

It`s interesting to note that both of us seem to have a Neptunian theme in our personality (him: Sun-Neptune conjunction; me: ASC-Neptune conjunction) and a Plutonian theme to our Venus (Him: Scorpio-Venus; mine: Venus square Pluto; though his Venus is also resonating with Jupiter, while mine seems to be not as expanding. lol).

His pluto is conjuct my south node exactly!
his pluto 18 degrees Libra
my south node is 18 degrees Libra

There is only an 11 second difference.

My chart:

My sun is at 0 degrees aries
Moon 20 degrees Sag

Venus and Mercury 6 degrees pisces
Mars is 24 degrees Aries.

EDIT: to make things even more interesting...
His North Node is conjunct my Pluto within 2 degrees.

Maybe I just don't like Coco Puffs. Seriously.

Seriously. Yes, it's the wet blanket effect. I just don't see the warmth in him that you do. I'd really love a birth time so we could look at the angles and Moon properly. Just comparing him to Liam Neeson (because they were brothers in Clash Of The Titans) Mr Neeson just emanates this warmth in every role he plays, for me, no matter the nature and intent of the character. Whereas, to me Rafe has this coldness to him, this restrained energy.

Just playing into the synastry game. Mr Somerhalder's Mars trines my Venus, Sun trine Sun, depending on birth time there could be a Sun-Moon conjunction, his Saturn on my South Node and my Pluto on his NN, his Venus opposite my Saturn and his Jupiter opposite my Moon. His Pluto opposes my Mercury. Yeah, I'll take part in that conversation. Should add some asteroids.
