AcousticGod, just in case she did need advice, I gave her some. Just in case she felt there was something wrong that she needed to change. I've been there before, so maybe she was going thru the same thing.I appreciate your reply. My best friend's a capricorn. It's hard, and a little bit like torture sometimes. Lol. But, at the end of the day I trust her completely cuz I know she's a good person. But, yeah, I wouldn't go out with a Capricorn. It's just...well, like I said, like you said....just wouldn't work out I'm on the fence about whether there is more to astrology than the beauty of generalizations. Maybe I just have more to learn. But for now...It's all I've got IP: Logged |

Correction: I'd give a Capricorn a chance, but I'd be on the lookout that it's probably going to feel a lot like torture. lol. (Please don't take that personally. It'd be neither of our faults...just our incompatibility) And if it doesn't feel like torture at all and isn't at all what I expected..then great IP: Logged |

MVM, If you read that page, you'd see an anecdote of my arguably detailed nature. quote: But people who become initially interested in astrology only BEGIN with those generalizations - because they don't know any better.
There isn't an experienced astrologer here that doesn't deal in generalities of what different things mean or could mean. quote: Otherwise, what would be the point of learning? To gather more generalizations?
All of astrology is a result of inductive and analogical reasoning, which takes a specific fact and creates a generalization. When you're learning astrology, you're learning what the accepted generalizations are. As you continue, at least from what I've seen here, you begin to examine how you come up with your own generalizations as well as how other people are treating the subject. It's all generalization, though. IP: Logged |

Yeah, RunAround, I could possibly give a Cancer a chance as well, but it would come down to maturity. Both mine and hers. Cardinal Suns always have some outcome in mind, and melding the two together can be tough. One might sacrifice themselves to the other for awhile, but I think that creates some resentment. I guess a Cardinal can't go with feeling too unfulfilled. I will tell you this. I didn't like Cancers for a bit, perhaps because I didn't understand, but over time I've come to be impressed with a number of dynamic Cancers. There are obvious ones like Richard Branson, but there are also intellectuals like Tesla and Nobel Prize winner Muhammad Yunus. There are amazing athletes amongst which is the star of my local hockey team Joe Thornton, who's been one of the best in the league for years. Cancers get a bad rap. Their every bit as Cardinal as the other Cardinal signs. IP: Logged |

Of course you agree with him, he shares your viewpoint.AG, you can argue all you like but I don't agree with you. You like to generalize. It's easy for you. So go ahead. I'm done with talking with you anyway. IP: Logged |

quote: The thing about pain is this. Do you have something causing you pain at the moment? If not, then the "pain" you feel is MEMORY. The way to cease memory pain is to say "stop!" and it will!!This is where people can misunderstand the meaning and memory of pain. Memory is not a pain; it is only the memory of something that caused pain and in truth, memory is always distorted from reality. Food for thought
I understand that - that's why I have been trying to distract myself, have been talking occasionally about what upsets me, or has me feeling so down, and then finding something to laugh about... including myself. It doesn't just go away, but one day, you'll notice that it doesn't hurt so much, for so long, and then another day you'll realize that it hasn't even been through your mind for several days. *edit. By the way, this is why I thought you were really trying to help the other day. After I'd asked about the one quoted part, I understood why it had been said, but I didn't think you meant any harm. I'm glad you didn't leave. IP: Logged |

This talk of generalizations reminds me of someone who called me out on a generalization they assumed I was making, right before pointing out to me that there are *always* exceptions to generalizations, and that I shouldn't feel the need to defend those targeted. (That wasn't supposed to be one sentence... and I don't know if it makes any sense to anyone else, but they amused me. I tend to defend people against generalizations, if I know exceptions.) I haven't read this whole thread but...I have a Capricorn Moon, Mars and Neptune -- and Taurus Venus. When people have water in the places where I have earth - I find them emotionally dramatic. I am actually very serious in these areas. I am reserved and I do lack joviality. I am very comfortable in my own skin. I like my life and I enjoy my peace and my lack of joviality. It gives me inner comfort. Life is ok as it is - I don't feel the need to turn it into a running soap opera. When something shakes up my environment - I move away from it, if I cannot ignore it. Usually I love water signs (despite their emotional theatrics). When the people have a mix of water and earth like myself then it's great - It fits. We can complete each other. BUT - water alone can be too much at times. For instance Pisces Moon and Cancer Moon are often too much. I can't be patient enough to listen to them to be honest. It begins to annoy me even though I have a Pisces Mercury. A LOT depends on rulers. I can't stress that enough. Some sextiles have extra simpatico. Taurus is ruled by Venus -- so a sextile to Cancer (ruled by Moon) -- can be very nice and enjoyable. Capricorn is ruled by Saturn --- so a sextile to Pisces (ruled by Neptune) --- is not always as enjoyable. If I had a penny for all he Cappy influenced people I have heard complaining about Pisces friends.. about their evasiveness, their inability to be somewhere on time etc. Scorpio on the other hand is a perfect sextile for Capricorn. Pluto and Saturn are the best of mates - figuratively. Both cold planets. Both masculine planets ruling feminine signs. Both disinterested in subtle sensitivity - Both at home with the ugly side of life.
My Capricorn Moon loves Scorpio Moon. My Taurus Venus loves Cancer Venus.
and so it goes.. But.. My Capricorn cannot stand Cancer. My Taurus can be love/hate with Scorpio. Basically - I think sextiles are generally compatible but if the people are too different - (due to planetary rulers and other aspects of their charts) -- they don't always work so well. Oppositions can go either way. It depends so much on other factors. IMO Gender is definitely an issue.

Wellllll the accepted generalization of Cancers + Capricorns is that they go together like peas in a pod. Cancers + Virgos/Tauruses are sextile which is harmonious. So either way, this post is moot.IP: Logged |

WELL THIS POST SHOULD DIE.im jk And to add: I mean, duh, your Sun is important but it's not THE ONLY THING THAT'S IMPORTANT. I'm an Aqua Sun but the overall vibe you get from me is Sagittarius, even though I only have Mars, Saturn and Uranus in Sag. BUT HOW CAN THIS BE?? MY SUN IS IN AQUARIUS! I have a 9th house Sun & Mercury which are both in Aquarius and its rulers are in Sag (Mercury is also my chart ruler so again, that leads back to Sagittarius). Second strongest sign in my chart is of course, Aqua, but Sag out ranks it. And that's why I don't rely on Sun Signs. IP: Logged |

Librarising is known to be full of inaccuracies. That's cool of your friend (I guess) but a lot of astrologers will tell you that you're more likely to guess someone's rising sign than their actual Sun Sign. Anyway in regards to moot: quote: In American law, a matter is moot if further legal proceedings with regard to it can have no effect, or events have placed it beyond the reach of the law.
MOOT. lol i keep editing to add things: And your Librarising brings up a good point (in my favor). Look at all the celebrities for a certain sign. It's all over the place. Like Paris Hilton is an Aquarius... WUT. Makes no sense! Also SARAH PALIN (noooooo)! Conversely, Cyndi Lauper is a Cancer (her hair!), COURTNEY LOVE is also a Cancer... as is Pam Anderson. None of those women seem very Cancer like to me. IP: Logged |
