lol, what is cancer-like to you?Cancer is probably one of the least understood signs. To me a cancer woman is someone who looks motherly....but is a hippie at heart . The one thing that you'll find in common between all cancer women is that they all seem a bit "loony" and strange. They choose to be this way, believe it or not. Cancer women are rebels at heart. Lindsay Lohan, Pam An and the ones you mentioned..they all follow the same pattern. Paris Hilton. I know someone who is an aqua sun and leo moon like her and the similarities in the way they look, act, and talk are pretty incredible. Why can't Paris Hilton be an aqua? Air signs are the socialites of the zodiac. And Paris' moon in leo means she needs to stand out in some way, so...there you go, that's why she's such an attention ho. lol. Please, Kim Kardashian is a Libra! And some of the most superficial (whether they really were or not i dunno) people I've known have been air signs, who were all very into their looks and being "socialites" I also had a teacher once who had cancer sun and leo moon like me, and boy were we similar! Same thought patterns, wishes and dreams, and fears. IP: Logged |

Cancers are not rebels. Not in generalized Sun Sign astrology. Sorry. Rebels, lunatics and hippies are reserved for Aquarius.Which is why generalized Sun sign astrology is horsesh*t. Yes, of course there will be similarities between you and someone who has the same Sun AND Moon sign as you! And the similarities get stronger the more planets you have in common (and stronger still with actual conjunctions). You just undermined your entire argument. WHERE IS RAYMOND??? I wish he were here to come in and explain his theories on how you shouldn't even really pay much attention to signs anyway and instead focus on aspects/planets. Edit: It's interesting that you have a Cancer Sun with a Leo Moon because it just reinforces your Cancerness... which is probably why you identify with it so strongly so you attribute every aspect of your personality to being a Cancer. I am an Aqua with a Libra Moon AND Gemini Rising and I can tell you that I hate schmoozing at parties and being around huge crowds of people is extremely draining. So no, Air is not always superficial and trivial. IP: Logged |

So of course every aquarius is not going to be the exact same. But just the sun and moon being combined shows how much "generalities" of the sun and moon combined without looking at the other aspects of a natal chart can make a person similar. I did not undermine my entire argument, because of course I am not saying that every aqaurius is identical to one another. It doesn't matter whether or not traditional astrology describes cancers as loony, hippies, and rebellious. It does not change the fact that that's how they are in real life. Maybe they need to update some of that traditional astrology. Truth isn't based on the traditional eays of doing things it's based on observation and experience. And from my experience aquarius women are rebels, sure (Paris Hilton is a rebel in her own way...she does exactly what she wants) but more than anything I've found aquarius women to love being socialites, love being on center stage, and love going to parties....and yes, a lot of them can come off as superficial socialites. I actually think gemini women are probably more rebellious than aquarians. IP: Logged |

Then, you'd be the first aquarius i've met that doesn't like parties ^^Meaning...you'd be just an exception IP: Logged |

O rly because I have yet to meet a Cancer Sun woman that was particularly rebellious.Which brings me to my next life lesson: Never ever base generalities on the people around you because it's not a good sample of the population. Plus our prejudices come into play, too, which color our perceptions. What we perceive isn't necessarily true. Humans tend to pick and choose things to pay attention to, which reinforces stereotypes. Like, say you see a Cancer with a piercing. You start to think "Well gee wiz, maybe Cancers love piercings!" Then the next time you see a Cancer with a piercing you think "OH MY! I AM CORRECT! CANCERS LOVE PIERCINGS!" then you start to explain away all of the other Cancers without piercings and ignore everyone else who are not Cancers with piercings. And that's how stereotypes begin. RunAround - Sorry if this question was already asked.. but - Do you have any earth in your chart?I'm an Aries Sun. As I was saying in my previous post I have 4 planets in earth (And forgot to add -- Cancer AC). I do fit your description in being serious etc.. But I know people with earth Sun Signs who are NOT like me... who are very vibrant, happy and full of life. So I still think a person has to have a predominance in an element for it to *show*. Virgo slob typing over here, who doesn't mind sharing toothbrushes or kissing someone I love who's sick. Virgo here, who loves parties, but also loves time alone. I love balance. Ah wait, that's a Libra thing. Must me my stellium. Virgo here. I'm not frigid, I can assure you. So yeah. Generalization is horsesh*t as amowls said. RAS - I think it's one thing if you become interested in astrology and learn it and then generalize. But I think it's a bit shallow to insist that all people are one way based on the month or day they are born, because it is random. At the same time, I think generalizations are ok, but like anything they are good in moderation. You're a Cancer and you say they are misunderstood. Why do you think that is ? It's BECAUSE of generalizations that the misunderstandings exist. Not because you're an overly sensitive Cancer (I'm joking of course). So IMO those generalizations are ok to an extent but they do need to remain *flexible* otherwise, there's no learning. IP: Logged |

Here's a good example of an Earth Sun Sign not being super serious: My best friend is a Capricorn Sun. She's super silly. Loves a good laugh. She is so silly and so un-stick in the mud that she is the biggest drug user I have ever encountered. She almost puts Amy Winehouse to shame (who is an Earth Sun--VIRGO--too). Also another friend of mine, a Taurus, loves cuddling and is probably more Cancer-like than anything else. Not so stiff and cold as you make Earth signs out to be. IP: Logged |

RAS, I would love to pull up your chart but I am too tired from working. Do you know how to pull one up on astro.com by any chance? I think before we all keep going in this needless area of generalizations, it might be interesting to balance out with some observations about your own chart. Have you had your chart looked at on here by any chance? It's really amazing I wish I wasnt so wiped out from work, but I'm also in the middle of baking a pumpkin pie and my Flikr account is acting up.

I've got it MVM (from another thread)... I'm looking at it right now but I don't want to post it unless RAS says its okay. It's actually funny because, RAS, you are Libra Rising, so one would think schmoozing and being a socialite would be great for you (you also have your chart ruler [Venus] in your 10th in Leo so you looooooooove parties and publicity). As for your dislike of Capricorns, do you think it's because you've got Saturn conjunct Neptune in Cap? As for being rebellious.. your Moon is conjunct your 11th house cusp so that would give your Moon a sort of Aqua feel to it. Anyway this is interesting for me because you're born 2 days before my boyfriend so he has a lot of the same placements as you (except he's Gem Rising with a Virgo Moon). And I'll tell you, my boyfriend is the opposite of rebellious. I'm always ranting about how the man is trying to keep us down (so to speak) and he just shrugs and continues reading whatever the book of the month is for his book club.

Oooh, I hope she's ok with putting it up. Hopefully it is and you might so I can over-analyze it. And lol @ you writing the man is trying to keep us down - not you thinking it, but when you wrote that and described you and your boyfriend's reaction, I giggled, it reminded me of my double Aqua mom going on tirades about the evilness of it all. While my dad (another Aqua btw but Gemini moon/Scorpio rising) just smiles, then shrugs lol IP: Logged |

Amowls: Cancers are probably the most hard to pin down sign. We are both rebellious and conservative, both independent and needy, both emotional and detached, both affectionate and cold!I love parties...at times. I'm fine with any activity, honestly. As long is I don't have TOO much of it. There has to be balance. IP: Logged |

Seriously the only time when he cares about the state of the world is when it directly affects him. Like now he hates cops because they falsely arrested him... but before he didn't care. He does not care a lick about politics... EVEN THOUGH HE READS THE NEW YORKER (which has several political articles) AND IS A GENERALLY SMART INDIVIDUAL. I don't get it. IP: Logged |

My dad is the same way, amowls. I think he's actually just pretty zen about it. RAS - Cappy Saturn! Hello! Something karmic with the Saturn Cappy...it causes either extreme dislike or attraction (sometimes both lol).
You've got not much air in your chart and your NN is in Aqua whih is really pretty interesting IMO. I'd say rebellion would be GOOD for you - I mean not following any conventional path or way of thinking. OK will look later once the pie cools slightly and I fill my wine glass IP: Logged |

I don't have much air or earth. But, I have a stellium in the 10th house and another stellium in the 3rd house If anything, I'd attribute my rebelliousness to either moon trine uranus or mercury opposite uranus. IP: Logged |
