AbsintheDragonfly,

I am not trying to tell the ONLY side of the story...

I do NOT want it to sound that way. But, I am telling it from my side.

ghanima81,

I know. I tried to go back and edit. At first, I thought she was a "he"... so, that's why it's confusing.

I understand that.

I also know that the other party is not able to respond to this, so it might be more equitable if names were left out.

If it were you or I we would appreciate the same courtesy, no matter our opinion of the other person. Yes?

Well, since it erupted in Sweet Peas, then it should have remained there & not drug all over the forums

I`m infering much was deleted & caused others to carry their voice out of the forum.

That`s a no no but once the fire consumed, it was too late.

How to prevent it in the future is key now.

But Spanky IS NOT. And that's dirty pool, as you said yourself when you found out that you'd been "discussed."

AbsintheDragonfly,

I am just trying to open discussion. If you want me to take out *******'s name, I will.

I am trying to just "get" the other story, tell my side, and see what we can do to be fair.

Pluto Squared, if I may..
I don't think there is an objection to your modship. In fact, I believe I said yay to your being mod in beginners astro.
The thing was it seemed like you were trying to be security guard for the whole site, and I know you feel it's your job to protect Randall, but he's been fine for 10 years.
To be honest with you, when I first came here, alot of people barely responded to the things I posted. I quickly understood that acceptance has to be earned.
I spent hours upon hours reading back threads and learning the histories, names, theories and what-nots of the members.

If you indeed wish to get on with people here, perhaps having a softer touch would be to your advantage. I am not asking you to change as a person, but simply to understand a bit more about the dynamics of a group that was together for a long time.

*sigh*

The point is that as moderators you shouldn't bring people up that aren't here to give their side of the story.

It's bad form.

PS

Exactly what Gypsee said.
Learning about the dynamics of the group is the first rule for a new moderator.
You completely ignored it from the very beginning.
You managed to insult just about every old member who left.
People who have been here for years.
You know the proverbial new broom in the old house, don't you?

Gypsee, a very insightful answer.

I agree whole heartedly. LL and Randall stand strong with the knowflakes standing behind him, as a whole.

Not new, not old, it just is

And welcome as a Mod!

Let's not name names. Bottom line: In the future, defaming someone's character will get a warning. The same goes for clearly overt insults. Some "moderate" leeway is allowed in GU-related arguments, as tempers flare there. That warning can be issued by Mods. If the warning is not heeded, contact me, and I will address it according to my discretion, but banning is definitely a strong possibility. Please, issue the warnings politely. And although the offending word(s) may be removed (if libelous), no strings will be deleted unless the person who started it requests it. Does this policy sound fair?

Ok.

Forget Dirty Pool. If ya gotta pee, go to the toilet...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What I was trying to say was by bringing up names of peopl that have been banned, they have no way of responding to anything that is said, and therefore:
It gives you an unfair advantage in the discussion.
Does that make any sense?
I have been off work sick for few days - and unusually have been observing some of this playing out.
I stopped posting a while ago because I witnessed something I thought completely out of order; as I was a 'visitor' to someones house, I did exactly what you all keep talking about. I quietly left, and didn't ring the door-bell again.
However, I miss my friends, and this is one place I can nip into to check they are all doing just fine.
I think I may have a 'middle ground' perspective. I have been here for a year - not a long stander and not a newbie.
Half way through this year the whole tone of the place changed. Some people that I really really like left voluntarily, others just 'dropped off'. The behaviour that lead to this was left largely unchecked. Whilst threads burned out, and things resolved themselves, it was never to the satisfaction of everyone. Bad feeling festered.
I think Randall might have recognised this. I imagine some people might have lobbied him to step in and sort things out.
So, Randall stepped in. I admit, I really didn't like it and, as a consequence, really didn't like 'him'.
It's taken me several days of scratching my head, pondering why such a change in approach. What is this 'clearing the house' he keeps talking about. Why these new allies. None of it makes sense.
I have seen it many times in a corporate environment, and tried to translate that to here.
So, I think I can see why you are doing what you are doing Randall. You are trying to rid your site of some poison? (not saying I'm agreeing with it) and the fact that you are killing all of the good bacteria in the process, you see as a necessary evil. At least you will have a clean house? But that house will be sterile???
I don't know whether you use the phrase 'don't throw the baby out with the bath-water'? I think that is what you are doing. It's very sad. Sad for someone that has only a small emotional investment here. I can really understand what others who have invested years here must be feeling.
I don't think this is about a few peoples 'off the cuff' remarks about flirting, or about the new forum. This is about the new Nazi regime - conform or you will be eliminated. It's one approach to the problem, but not the right one.
Please listen to your truly loyal visitors Randall - they have been yelling at you for a week to be heard.
Pluto, Ami, Nicki - PLEASE (meant nicely!) step aside for a while and let people work this out with Randall. You can't help at the moment.
