starkiss1,Well, in my defense, in real life, I NEVER pay attention to group dynamics. I DO WHAT I WANT. And, YES... this makes a lot of people mad. But, I can't HELP IT... it's what I am... Granted, I have only been a moderator for a very short time. And, I realize that if I want to keep my job, I will have to be kind and understanding to you. Hopefully, if you folks can realize this is 2nd nature to me, and that I am learning as I go along, you will not take my "personality" personally, in any way. Randall, I think suspension would be more appropriate for first time or light offense. But for persistent "headache" and extreme cases, then permanent banning is ok.And my suggestion to you is to develop a bit thicker skin.  This mature dialog thing here right now is good. As someone from a country that has/had a history of martial law, I can tell you that people don't like getting muzzled (whether they have legit issues or not). It's always better to offer a venue for peaceful conflict resolution.  IP: Logged |

I don't think Sweet Peas is a problem. Initially it may have been, but I think people have gotten used to it now. Although I did talk to someone I highly respect who expressed concern that since it is on the open web and discusses adult content, that someone underage may come across it. Which is why I made the comment to Randall that he may want to consider password protecting it. For his own protection. Either that or it needs to be well-moderated. I personally like Sweet Peas and would continue to post there as a member, but I don't want to be held responsible for some 10 year old who wants to know what makes her a Virgo stumbling across me discussing the merits of rough sex.I don't have any issues with Randall & NickiG dating/flirting/whatever. It's none of my business. I do have an issue with all of the conflict and backbiting, and I think the thread-locking, deleting, some of the bans, and the way this has escalated has contributed to the aura of discontent that permeates the site lately, especially some forums in particular. Lastly, my personal feeling about moderators is that they are held to a higher standard than the rest of us. With privilege comes responsibility. When attacked, you cannot attack back. Every word and deed must be carefully considered. Yes, you're human, but you're also supposed to exhibit maturity, sensitivity, and excellent conflict resolution skills. Otherwise, what are you moderating LOL? Consistently being part of the conflict is a big red flag, especially with other moderators. But apparently this has happened before (shrugs). My experience with LL has been that mods and yon Webmaster are rarely seen or heard in their official capacity. They are just regular folk and do their duty silently and effortlessly. IP: Logged |

I'm not trying to make this a regime. As I said, most of the Knowflakes are posting in complete freedom, and they don't tear anyone down in the process. Some others seem to need more direction. I stayed to myself for a time, but I came here in full force for a reason. Like me or hate me, I will do what is best for this community as a whole. I do not see what is so difficult about not insulting others. Respect is something I was taught as a child. If we show respect, then when we speak to one another--even if we disagree with what is being said--we will try to see the other side.------------------

OK Randall, understood.
But can you see at all how in the past week you have condemned those for insulting PS, Ami, or Nicky, but you have condoned PS insults by saying she is like the Archangel Micheal protecting LL, and similiar words such as this.?
It seems one sided is all we are saying.
However, If we can continue to discuss things this way, I think it will go a LONG way towards solving the issues.

I think the thing that has been hardest, and what I am now coming to realize because of other members on the board, is that I can't just behave like I was before - a simple member. I think if you guys went back and took a look at my comments, and erased the word "moderator" under my name, you would see that those comments were not quite as offensive. I SEE that I have more responsibility as a Moderator, and can't just be a "member" in the sense of just kicking back and speaking as freely as I otherwise would. IP: Logged |

All of the so-called "bans" are suspensions. They are being used to stop the fires that were being lit here. Anyone who cools off and wants to come back is welcome to--so long as they move on from this and stop causing contention. So, in essence, none have been banned. They choose not to be here. PlutoSquared, yes. That's it exactly.If you are a MOD you can't go in with your flaming sword and kick ass. When I was first made mod of this part of LL. I had to move lots of strings that didn't belong here. Some people took that personally, and accused me of "having an agenda" or hating them. I didn't. I just wanted things to go where they are supposed to go, otherwise what's the point of having any other separation. (I can't help it, I'm a Cappy Sun, with a Taurus Moon TIDY MAN) There was this huge moaning and gnashing of teeth any time I did it. I wanted, ooh I wanted so badly to go in and rip and tear, and vent, my reputation was being questioned. I coudlnt' though. I had to remain like Switzerland, NEUTRAL and IMPARTIAL. It's tough job.
